thanks a lot...

That is because this story was already written earlier for another couple. I was only pasting it here after making appropriate changes for Maaneet. So I am no wonder writer.

Thanks for the compliment Reva. Means a lot. as to continuing my writing I'm afraid I'm no longer bitten by the writing bug. Have lost my touch, I guess. There are these phases I go through when I do something with great passion and then I come out of that trance-like state. I came out of my writing mania more than a year ago.

Me back Opti.. Sorry for the short post.. The big guns had come in today and I had absolutely no time to come on IF ( though I managed to sneak in and read Vrush and ur updates 😆).. Hence could not respond.. Now back home and would peacefully provide u what I felt about this tale.
The strangers and sequel is one of the best short story I have ever read and I am a person who loves readings- Not FFs, I am referring to reading romantic novels/short stories.. I got into this forum cos of Geet, so I have no prior experience in rating a FF other than Vroom(she is sensational for me) and some others who do write well... This forum is a talent pool of writers!!
But the way u treated the characters are very different. I understand why many of them reacted in the way your said they did.. It is outside the realm of our reality to think that a man would accept a woman who has been in a physical relationship I feel for Geet. Here is a person who beleives that she is unworthy, she has not felt love in any fashion after her natural parents death.. When she finds some companionship from a person and was asked a gift in return for this kindness, she didnt want to upset him and went ahead for his happiness.
I think there is always a price for kindness. She paid her price for the kindness that she received from Dev..
Similaryly, I dont think Maan was perfect too. But I love the way he loved Sahana.. It is easy to say that I would love a child who is not mine, but difficult to follow it through when we have children of our own.. This too was treated well in the story where Geet says that Maan ddnt want kids for this reason.. Like I told before, the way u portrayed love is unconditional is something we should learn and implement in our lives.. No one is perfect.. Love is 2 imperfect people falling into love to become a perfect couple..
I too love the movie Kannathil muthamittal.. One of the best movies I have seen and everytime I see the climax, I cry!! ..Very beautifully picturized- a must see!! (BTW, do u understand tamil?)
I wanted to bring one more example - Anil Kumble- He married a divorcee.. He is an international player and very famous.. If he can marry a divorcee and welcome her child to his life, why cant Maan Khurana do the same??
(Just my humble thoughts)😊

Rev, I do think you are my twin! My thoughts exactly. I was about to add Anil Kumble but thought better not to drag him to justify my fic. I really admire that man. He stood by her even through the ugly custody battle. When I had read about him, my respect for him grew.

Yes, unconditional love is difficult to understand and even more difficult to follow. Unconditional love is best exemplified in the relationship a mother has with her child but here I took it beyond that. Here is a man who feels that sort of love for a child who is not his. That requires a lot of courage and magnanimity. Can we dismiss it as impossible? I thought that we can't, at least we can hope such people do exist, can we not?

Actually the inspiration for this fic was a Tamil serial by the name Rayil sneham (by the way I am a Tamilian). I dont know whether you had seen this show which was telecast sometime in the early 1990s. I do not remember the whole story but like in my story, the guy rescues a girl from jumping over in a running train. He later realises that she is pregnant and shelters her. I don't know whether they got married in the show but I think she dies during the child birth and he raises the girl on his own. The story is told in flashback where the girl ( a teenager) finds her mother's diary and finds the truth that the man she thought was her father was not her father. It is a K.Balachander serial.

Taking this seed of a man's love for a child who is not his, I spun my own story.

Glad you liked this story.
