I think Maan is Channi's boyfriend. Repeatedly Channi and her mother's names are coming in between and also Maan seems to be a guy who had a painful past.
Maybe he has figured it out that Geet's broher is responsible for Channi's death so thats why he wanted to take revenge by buying off their land and torturing them later.

Hmm, yeah, that's a real possibility. That was the reason they showed Channi's death in the very first show, it's going to tie in some way with Maan's actions.

but logically its not possible...beacause brij killed channi because she was in love with a boy of other jaat..n if dev n maan are brothers they all are of the same caste so its not possible!

didn't Channi fall in love with a boy that was much lower in status or cast, something like that? Maan seems to be very rich and mature, and if Dev and Maan are brothers they are in the same cast. So I don't think thats a part of it. I think the whole thing with Channi was to make a point, that Brij and the old man can go as far as to kill a girl if she ruins their reputation. Channi wasn't even Brij's sister, but same society status or cast, so they killed her for falling in love with a lower cast guy. (sick).................
