Delhi Multiplexes May Go Without ' Dhoom 2'

[24 Nov 2006]

A demand for the last minute increase in the prices by Yashraj Films for the release of DHOOM-2 from PVR cinemas based in Delhi may force the owners of multiplex cinemas in the northern region of UP, Punjab and Delhi not to release the film, which is due for release today. According to sources this last minute demand is being seen as arm-twisting and dadagiri of the Yashraj Films, which also distributes its films. An eminent trade analyst Amod Mehra opines, 'once a decision is taken at the distribution level, individual production companies should not increase the price again.'

However, there is another school of thought which thinks that DHOOM-2 is an expensive film and the collection from this movie at the box office is going to be much higher and so the multiplex owners should not really complain. Nonetheless they too agree that the last minute arm-twisting is an unfortunate situation which hurts the cinema, audience and the personal relationship of everyone involved.

It may be recalled that even earlier at the time of release of FANAA, which was being distributed by Yashraj Films, similar demands were raised and the release of the film was under suspense till the last moment. But fortunately better sense prevailed and the distributor and multiplex owners came to an amicable solution and the film was released on time. Let us hope for the best this time too.

lol hrithik stole the show, especially his intro scene, after the train murder, he starts dancing, he looks really hot.

Oh and about the kissing scene, my elder sister was quite jealous as she never liked aishwariya rai. Maan its still awkward seeing a kissing scene in a hindi movie, but it wasn't a proper kiss, just like some little peck on the lip, but my sister was mad 😆 I don't care much for hrithik, my favorite is abishek.

Anyways didn't aishwariya say somewhere that she would never kiss on-screen on lip? Cause thats what I read about her when Bride and Prejudice was released. 😕

Anyways about the movie, I liked Dhoom 1 better, it had a much more definite story-line and more about action than romance. But about Dhoom 2, abishek suited his role quite well cause such roles are kind of meant for abishek and uday had good comic timing, hrithik really played the cool and suave guy well. I like him here much much better than I liked him in Krrish, he was simply brilliant, you guys would drool when he came on the screen. Plus his movie character is sooo different, you can't help but like his role. Aishwariya Rai was good in the first half, but in the second half in the emotional scenes especially she looked a bit fake. But I really liked her acting in the intro scene and her and hrithik shared an awesome chemistry in the basketball scene (which all happened in the first half). I don't want to give away anything, but the story itself kind of lacked a strong villain (and thats the main reason I think saif should win best villain award just cause hrithiks character is not such a strong villain as much as a theif... those who watch the movie would understand what I mean), but it was fun watching all heists. Rimi sen played off her role remarkably well, Bips was good as the cop, nothing new as the twin. Abisheks last scene with ash/hrithik was really funny but I thought the ending wasn't good, cause it completely changed the movie to more of a romantic one than action. But its worth going, just to watch all their acting and enjoy udays jokes which are quite funny!

The picture was a complete masala entertainer, I did not get bored for even one minute. So its good entertainment, great dancing, most of the songs besides the title songs were crap.

I would rate it 4 out of 5 😊

About Ash saying she wouldnt smooch on screen,Ash's actual words "I'm very clear -- I speak for myself. I've never said I'd never kiss on screen. I've always maintained I'd cross that bridge when I come to it. Again, I'm accused of playing it safe. The truth is, I don't know what tomorrow holds. So I can't make a close-ended principle about it." ..This was said long back

First and foremost,no one expected this to be a pathbreaking cinema, all that is expected of Dhoom are some adrenalin pumping moments, great action sequences, great chemistry between the lead pair, and if you go expecting for all this, you wouldnt be disappointed,

All in all,it was totally Hrithik's movie.....Ash enters just before the interval,a good 40-45 minutes after the movie begins😕...Uday was a torture to watch, his romance with Shonali's twin was painful🤢...The English spoken by Bipasha makes me cringe🤢..Abhishek was totally dwarfed By HrithikAsh looked confused and lost and uncomfortable)..Infact Hrithik has never looked better with any other heroine......Dhoom was classy, nothing was overtly risque..Ash was mind blowing in Crazy Kia re(ONLY in that song),she's such a great dancer..I quite liked dil laga na too...Dhoom is no pathbreaking cinema, but paisa vasool for sure...

I remember you wishing for hot steamy scenes between Duggu and Ash...you wouldnt be disappointed😉

Actually,YRF is having some differences with all multiplexes,so I had to catch Dhoom on a single screen theatre, that too by paying extra money

DAMN! They censor everything in KUwait....I can't watch any of thus sensous scenes...they won't even show the bikini shots!!!! basically they will cut down teh whole movie coz I heard on Indiafm tht there's qutie a bit of exposure in the movie......DAMN DAMN DAMN! 😡

BUt im glad Hrithik stole the show....it'll shut up all those ppl who say tht he gives hits only with hsi father....

As for the best villian award, then I think Saif deserves it more..... 😳 coz Hrithik looks mroe lik the HERO and SOUL of D-2 rather than the villan....

Ah Buffie, so thats what she said. Thanks for clearing it up! 👏 Agree with you, they shared awesome chemistry and looked hot on screen, but my fav scene of theirs was the basketball scene and I looved ash's acting in the intro scene when she said 'Are you like checking me out?" 😆 But I still maintain that in the second half ash looked a bit fake in the crying or emotional scenes especially the one at the end! she was good in the liplock scene though where she was scared of hrithik. 😛

But anyways all hrithik lovers, get ready. I'm serious I don't think I've seen hrithik look any more hotter than how he looked in dhoom 2. Particularly the intro scene. Oh my sis even got to see hrithik in real life for Krrish (it premiered in dubai) but she didn't do to meet him, but she told me that hrithik looks 10 times better in real life than on screen and if he's soooo hot on screen (dhoom 2), can you imagine how he must be looking like in real life? 😛

Lol why don't you come to UAE, its nearby kuwait right? Thankfully they didn't censor any scenes over here. And I totally agree with you hrithik was more like the main hero and soul of D2 than the villain, saif definately deserves best villain over all the villains this year (yep even shahrukh khan)
