R: Darro mat. Main tumhare saath hoon.
Kanya angrily pulled her arm away.
K: Main darti nahi hoon, okay? Aur mujhe tumhari madat ki koi zarurat nahi hai!
With that, she stormed off down the road. Ranbir sighed and followed her. Kanya folded her arms as Ranbir drew level with her. She did not want to talk to him, he was a hate guru. But she sorely wished she could break down the wall that he had built up and talk to Ranbir. Just Ranbir.
As they walked down the street, Ranbir glanced down at Kanya. He felt a rush of love and an urge to apologize and make everything better. He fought it back in his mind and kept staring at Kanya, beautiful in the night, oblivious to the fierce battle in his head.
At that moment, a drop fell on Ranbir's head. He looked up slowly and realized it was going to start raining. He stared down at Kanya, who was still wearing the short white dress. He pulled off his jacket.
R: Here, Kanya
K: (angrily) Mujhe nahi chahiye.
R: Come on, Kanya. Bachho jaisi baat mat karo. Thand bahut hai aur baarish hone wala hai. Pehen lo.
K: (stubbornly) Nahi. Tumhe kya? Tumhe meri parva karne ke liye koi zarurat nahi hai.
Then, the rain started to spill onto her head. She looked at Ranbir and he silently put the jacket around her shoulders and they walked on.
They were now both very wet. As they walked, Kanya stole a glance at Ranbir. His short sleeve white shirt was now drenched and you could see his abs and chest clearly through it. Kanya bit her bottom lip to prevent her desires from spilling out of her mouth. Ranbir caught her eye and she looked away, embarrassed. Ranbir also looked away, with a smirk on his face.
They kept walking. Suddenly, Kanya's earring fell out. As she bent down to pick it up, Ranbir stared unabashedly at Kanya's hair and his gaze drifted down to her shoulders... her arms... her legs...and then he realized that Kanya was looking right back at him. Both of them looked away hurriedly, blushing furiously.
They continued to walk for a while until Ranbir saw a side street.
R: Kanya, suno, mujhe lagta hai ki humme is raaste se jaana chahiye.
K: No way, Ranbir! Kitna andhera hai wahaan pe! Tumne toh humme is musibat mein phasaya, ab main humme is raaste se bahar laaungi!
R: (llosing patience) Kanya, mujhe pata ahi ki wahaan pe andhera hai, par woh main road ki taraf jaata hai. Ho sakta hai ki hum us pe chal ke, main road mil sakte hai!
K: Main nahi jaaungi.
Ranbir growled in exasperation. Kanya just looked more stubborn.
R: Toh tum apni marzi se nahi jaaogi?
K: Kya matlab?
R: Dekho Kanya, main aakhri baar puchh raha hoon. Tum us raaste se chalogi ki nahi.
K: NAHI
R: Toh mujhe koi option nahi.
Ranbir bent down and scooped up Kanya in his arms. She yelped.
K: Ranbir! Kya kar rahe ho! Neeche utaro! Let go of me, you saand!
Ranbir ignored her and kept walking. Kanya started hitting his back. Ranbir kept walking. After a while, when he couldn't stand her yelling anymore, he put her down.
R: Ab tumhe jaana hai toh tum jaao. Main is raaste se jaaunga.
K: Fine! I will!
Ranbir left her and kept walking. Kanya stood there with her arms crossed. Suddenly, a bunch of motorcycles roared down the lonely road and encircled Kanya. A bunch of gundas got down from the cycles.
Gunda 1: Oye, tum itni raat ko is sunsaan raaste par kyun ho? Tumhe nahi pata, yahaan pe bahut khatra hai!
All the gundas laugh.
Gunda 2: Tumhari naam kya hai, gorgeous?
Kanya stares after Ranbir, who was too far out of earshot to hear her call him.
Gunda 3: Tum humare saath aao, baby. Hum tumhe bahut safe rakhenge. (more evil laughter)
He reached down and played with a strand of her hair. Kanya angrily shoved his hand away. The gunda raised in anger, but another strong arm caught it before it came down on Kanya.
R: Trust me, you don't want to do that.
Two more gundas rushed Ranbir. He kicked one and twisted the first one's arm around and kicked him from the back. One pulled out a knife and came at Ranbir. He grabbed the gunda's arm and twisted it around and punched him. Another jumped him from behind and ripped at his shirt. Ranbir kicked him straight in the stomach.
Kanya watched as Ranbir beat up the gundas. After he laid the last one down with a punch, he looked up at Kanya. His look was so intense that Kanya took a couple steps back before she could steady herself. He got up and walked towards her and pulled off his torn shirt.
R: Chale?
Kanya was too shocked to give him more than a faint "hmm" as consent. And they continued walking. As they walked, Kanya stole a glance at Ranbir's bare, muscular arms. And she noticed blood.
K: Arre Ranbir, tumhari toh khun nikal raha hai!
R: What? (checks) Oh yeah, thoda sa.
Kanya rips the hem of her dress and ties it around his arm. When she tied the knot, it pressed on the wound. "Ah!" yelped Ranbir, and grabbed Kanya's wrist. She looked up at him. He opened his eyes slowly and looked back at her. But this time, it wasn't Ranbir Nanda, baara hazaar crore ki malik, hate guru looking at her. It was just Ranbir.
