She started.

Flashback: -

Arjun was her 8 months old son.
On the same mission, five months ago, she had been assigned to work undercover in a child care institute which was under suspicion. Marketing of illegal ammunition were rumored to go on at the place. And then one day, or to be more precise, one night, while she had just finished all the required chores, she heard some commotion in the locked, musty room beneath which was quite eerie. As far as she had known the room was never used and now those bangs could only make the current situation more suspicious. Arming herself, she steadily and sleuthfully made her way down to the underground attic. As she neared the entrance she observed some remunerative transaction being carried out. Censorious of the actions of the masked men, she quietly slipped into the room and switched on her emergency efficient camera. They were hiding a medium- sized ivory carved wooden carton near the rotten and rickety furniture. Something smelled funny. She had an intuitive that these men must be affiliated with the leaders of the suspected gang. Naina knew that she couldn't outright arrest them. They outnumbered her and more of all proof was required. All they had been doing was loading and unloading stuff. And then she struck gold. Her eyes had caught a pair of uncensored rifles, all clean and polished lying on the ground all ready to be filled into the box. She was glad all this was being recorded. This video could act as a stepping stone for the foundation and establishment of substantial evidence. Afoot with a full-proof plant made on the spot, she quickly sent a message to Ali informing him of the situation. She knew the reaming part would be managed by him. About half or so later, when the men had almost completed the task, she decided to slip out of the room and let Ali and others continue from there. Swiftly, hiding the video in the thigh strap, she proceeded to leave. She had almost succeeded when her foot struck with an underlying rusty iron wrench filling the atmosphere with a creepy screech. Naina held her breath. She had to think of something quick. The masked men were alert and looked up but to their surprise found no one. Through God's grace a small rat scampered across the dirt. Taking it to be the source of the voice the men relaxed and then walked away but unfortunately not before locking the door away. Naina was in a fix. She didn't have a pickpocket tool box along with her. She heard snatches of some upheaval outside through the ventilator. Her colleagues had done her job. When thing died down she quickly called Huda and told him to get her out of the room. But the reply she received rattled her. The men had covered their tracks. They had received information that if they were caught they first had to destroy all evidence that could threaten to implicate the larger ring and then kill them selves. Thereby when the officials had caught them they had switched on the self-destructive bomb which was placed in the ivory box as a safety measure. Naina couldn't believe it. She quickly told him about her predicament. Huda was worried, neither he nor Ali could come down. They had with much difficulty restrained the men from in taking the cyanide capsules. Naina suddenly heard faint ticks. Quickly, walking over to the box, she found the timer running on. She had 10 minutes at the tops. With brevity and courage she told Huda to hastily get the kids out. They were about 50 toddlers in the centre and they had to evacuate the place. She would think about something. She found a spare safety pin in her pocket and tried to break though the padlock. But the pin broke before long. 4 minutes to go. She was confident that the infants were safe. But she wasn't so confident about herself regarding the same. Finally, having found a sleek, rusty wire she broke the lock.

1 minute more to go:-
Before leaving the site, she heard the faint sound of an infant crying. She ran speedily towards the source and saw a tiny baby crying while crawling along the glazed tiles. Quickly picking him she darted out. Just as she reached the front gates, a large blast threw her off her feet. Before falling she ensured that nothing happened to her baby. Sub-consciously, she realized that she had struck a deep, pure rapport with the life in her hand within a few seconds. Maternal emotions had risen for the child who now snuggled in her hands and had subdued to just slight sobs.

She must have lost out on one of her most important developments of the case with the uncensored ammunitions destroyed but she had gained something more beautiful, lovable and splendid. She had been gifted a son!!

Pt 9:-

There was faint smile on her face as she finished recounting her past. Raj could see the joy, happiness and love blooming in those gorgeous eyes. She looked happy!!! Somewhere in his heart Raj also was relieved, she was still Naina Singh Ahluwalia.

Realizing her present condition Naina said, "Umm. Sir. It's become quite chilly here, let's proceed inside. Everyone must be anticipating our return."

Raj nodded in approval. With a slight mischievous grin lightening up his face, when Naina almost tripped falling right onto his strong chest, he steadied her while she refused to look up to him. Suddenly, Naina realized that she had better go home and check up on her family. She told Raj to go back inside while she leaves to ensure her family's safety. Raj was beginning to disagree and almost proposed dropping her when she hurried past. Before disappearing from his sight of vision, she called out – "Congratulations!! Take Care!!"

Raj was bubbling with elation. She had retained her innocence and naughtiness over the years. And she still wished him. Shaking his head, he walked towards the porch.

Naina hugged and cuddled Arjun as soon as she took him from the cot. Half an hour had passed. Tears unknown to her kept flowing. He kept staring at her with a cute smile while his hands were upto some mischief She recollected the venomous, threatening words of man whose cult leader threatened to destroy their happiness. She knew she had to distress herself. The rain had reduced to a slight drizzle.
Placing him back on the cot with a sigh and leaving him to mess around with his favorite stack of toys she decided to play football on the empty ground outside. She recalled the time when Raj and all the cadets were in one team opposing the faculty. It had been so much fun.

With the ball beneath her feet the rain drenching her completely, her shorts and T sticking to her well- defined figure, she kicked it with a ferocious force with which it flew right into the goal post. At 9 at night, playing football in the rain would be considered insane.

After the vigorous shot, Naina continued to lash out her frustration and annoyance on the ball. She was about to give it another kick when she found herself kicking the empty air. Surprised she looked up and found him tossing and playing around with the ball as if she didn't exist. He kept scoring goal after goal with no care and no idea that someone apart from him even existed. Finally, this monotonous act of his was beginning to get on her nerves. The enlivening Naina was back. Marching towards him, with utter exasperation she managed to flick the ball away before he could manage another goal.

With his tousled dripping head, turning in her direction, their eyes met gleaming with stubbornness on a more concentrated degree in Naina's. With an unannounced start, the game began with Raj approaching Naina. Naina's moves were quick and agile but Raj himself wasn't an amateur. With lightning quick reflexes and strength, he remained an unbeaten obstacle in her path.
Eyes darting to and fro confusing him, she managed to steer away and make her first goal.
With triumph she passed on the ball to him.
All she got back was a "Not bad!! Not too good either." With disbelief, she turned to defend him. But despite this he managed to evade her and score.
"We are even!!"

And so the game continued. With one acing and the other catching up. After about an hour and a half of play, Naina was exhausted and thereby Raj won. Falling on to the lush green meadow prolific with water, she felt him gauging her expression and sensed his eyes scrutinizing each and every part of her body. Her already flushed cheeks turned more pink and rosy. Uncomfortable with the prevailing silence, she invited him upto the house wondering why he had come here initially. She asked him to stay over as it was late at night and also the rain had become more furious. Her parents were asleep and she guessed Arjun must also have dozed off. Hastily, supplying Raj with a towel and a fresh set of clothes she showed him the guest room after which she herself ran inside to get changed. After a hot shower and changing into warm pair of pajamas and top she walked towards the kitchen. She supposed that HE must have fallen asleep and attempted to make a hot cup of cocoa. It was 11 at night. Making herself comfortable on the diwan with the cup in her hand and the stack of files in the other she began to browse through them unaware that a pair of eyes was etching out her every move. Confident that she was too engrossed to care, he walked to the room from where he had seen her come out.

Having entered cautiously, he neared the blue sheet covered neat bed on which a small child was sleeping. Arjun, having sensed someone's approach opened his sleepy eyes while his legs kicked about in the air. Raj was fascinated, the kid was so cute!!

Part10:-

"Hey Baby", he whispered. "Hope you haven't troubled mamma in these last few months. Hmm.. You seem to have got the same ravishing and mesmerizing eyes."
Arjun looked on up with large, curious eyes. He seemed to like the person because he quickly crawled up, whimpering slightly and came near Raj with a babyish smile on his face. He then feasted his eyes on the steel Titan watch Raj had adorned. It was sparkling as a result attracting his attention. He played with the watch trying to remove it while Raj watched on with a strange joy in his heart. He knew the kid was special. His smile was so lovable and mesmerizing. He knew that Naina was the most appropriate and wonderful mother the child could have.
He was stunned when the child squinted at him and his scarf covered a part of his face. Out of know where he started hitting Raj's hand and Raj guessed that he was all moods to play. He calculated that Naina would be too engrossed in her file to notice the time and she would be back only after a while. Quickly shutting the door, he picked Arjun up, and tossed and hurled him up and down. Arjun enjoyed being in Raj's arms. He chuckled and giggled. Laughed and goggled. He found a strange solace and delights in playing in the arms of this strong stranger. Later when Raj placed him back on the bed, he noticed Raj's bulging triceps disappear. He was confused and annoyed. He wondered who had taken away those big muscles. He suddenly started hitting Raj's arms with his baby fist as to hit the thief and bring those strong things back. Raj caught off-guard became confused as to why Arjun was hitting him. When his arms flexed a bit he noticed Arjun looking victorious and then once again puzzled when his arms relaxed. After a minute he understood. He quickly flexed his arms and Arjun stated caressing those 'dolays-sholays' and then suddenly hugged him goggling all over his face. Raj laughed at his innocence. After spending some quality time with Arjun Raj decided to leave. But Arjun thought the opposite. He just wouldn't let Raj leave. When Raj tried to go, he threatened to cry and Raj was in a fix. Suddenly, soft padded footsteps could be heard from outside. Raj ignoring the child's pleas hastily hid behind the curtains just when the door opened.

It was Naina. As soon as she entered, she saw Arjun sitting all wide-eyed and energetic. His scarf had come off and his silky hair was all messy. She was astounded and perplexed. He had been sleeping when she had checked on him after her bath. Hurrying quickly towards her son, she picked him up and asked, "Beta, aap ko kya ho gaya. Aap abhi tak jage hue ho? Aur aapke baal itne bhikre hue kyun hai?"
She noticed Arjun pointing towards the curtain.
"Parda hai, baba… Aap jaante ho na. Uske peeche jo darwaza hai wo verandah tak jaata hai."
Arjun started jumping and kept on indicating at the curtains confusing Naina with his weird behaviour. Finally fed up with his antics, Naina picked him up and walked towards the curtains so as to prove that there was no one behind.

Meanwhile Raj's heart started beating wildly as he felt the approaching steps. Itni bigdi hui haalat to tab bhi nahin thi jab who mission per tha. His thoughts were running in this direction," Kya beta, mumma ko ishaara karna zaroori tha. Ab kya karoon." His thoughts then strayed to those good old days when he had caught Naina behind his room's curtain. How ironical the current situation was. It was he who was now behind the curtain and Naina the prosecutor.

As soon as Naina drew the curtains away she saw…….

Part 11:-

Revision:-
His thoughts then strayed to those good old days when he had caught Naina behind his room's curtain. How ironical the current situation was. It was he who was now behind the curtain and Naina the prosecutor.

As soon as Naina drew the curtains away she saw…….

Present Scenario:-

As soon as Naina drew the curtains away she saw nothing. As she was about to turn back, her sharp eyes landed on the slightly open door. The door to the verandah wasn't bolted. But she recalled herself pulling across the latch earlier. With Arjun in her hand displaying a bemused expression, she walked out to the open and observed that the rain had subsided and just strong wind was blowing. Her untied hair flying all about with a few strands tickling Arjun, she pondered over the situation. Arjun's restless conduct and the unbolted door all made her suspicious. She then looked at Arjun who now was befuddled and had started playing with her hair while looking around stunned.
Letting out a tired sigh while giving Arjun an exasperated look she decided to file away the matter for later. Then latching the door she walked back inside gathering up energy to put her now ebullient son back to sleep. Boy, it was going to be a long night.

Naina wasn't the sole solitary individual to brave a hard night. The now Major Rajveer Singh Shekhawat was like always accompanying her in this issue also.
That was a close call, he realized. He thanked his lucky stars vehemently for if not had both his and Naina's verandah been interlinked by the parapet he would have been dead meat. He felt glad that he had left his verandah door open before slipping out of the room.
Lying down on the bed, he now realized how majestically and beautifully, the little toddler had left a fascinating and eternal impact in his heart. Those sparkling innocent eyes, those cuddly fingers and the exuberant actions had sub-consciously and consciously become priceless moments of his life. His thoughts then drifted to his young fiery and lionized yet practical lass. Now a single mother he couldn't help but feel proud of her accomplishments. But lately, he remembered noticing, a strange emotion in her eyes. He was scared to admit and hope and believe, but those emotions were the same as that he had when he looked at her. Did Naina also reciprocate his feelings? He was baffled. Twisting, tossing and turning did nothing to subdue his highly evoked tumultuous emotions. He also knew Laala Saab would now initiate attempts to harm him and Naina and her family. Naina didn't know the reason of his arrival. He planned to keep it that way for the following few days. Accepted that she was now an illustrious officer of the Indian Army with many medals to her credit, but he also had been her teacher. Walking one step ahead was his style and statement of work. He was going to nail down the culprits one by one as the anticipated war had been triggered. Naina, her family's and his students safety was going to be his top priority in this case and he was confident, this time truth would prevail.

The shrill sound of the pressure cooker going off awoke him. Pulling off the blanket he got up and stretched. Then poring himself a glass of cold water, he walked out sliding open the door to the verandah unperturbed by the chilly breeze which grazed his bare chest. As he sipped, he found himself admiring the beautiful opulent colors of the lush green ground outside merging with the still natural tranquil ness. Glancing at the clock n the tower which now chimed seven he decided to refresh himself. He guessed that Naina's mom and dad would be up by now along with their daughter. His face broke into a grin when he thought about Arjun. Those delightful moments of remembrance darkened at the thought of the danger now revolving around the family. His mind had started reevaluating all his latest strategies and methods to handle this case. Resolving not to procrastinate matters any longer, he quickly took a shower and came out wrapped in a towel. He groaned when he recollected that his clothes might not have dried. His eyes then fell on a pair of crisp checked shirt and denim jeans placed on the bed. There was a note along with it which simply read 'Breakfast at 8.' Thanking Naina mentally and linking the simplicity of the attachment with the writer, he quickly dressed himself and walked down to meet the rest of the family. He was nervous as he was going to face Naina's parents after those startling revelations to Naina of being responsible of Naveen's death; he gulped down his saliva before landing onto the last step.

Part 12:-

Revision:-

He was nervous as he was going to face Naina's parents after those startling revelations to Naina of being responsible of Naveen's death; he gulped down his saliva before landing onto the last step.

present Scenario:

Astonishingly, he was welcomed with warm smiles, which temporarily confused him. He half-expected to be thrown out of the house. Nervously, he folded his hands in a namaste and walked hesitatingly.

All this while Naina couldn't shift her gaze which had been transfixed on her "sajna". He was looking dashing in the attire. His wet hair could only add to the charm. It was only when she realized hat she had been gaping, she looked away. She broke the silence by announcing the call for breakfast.

Naina's father broke in saying that he needed to talk to Raj in private.
Raj was now beginning to fret. Without a word he followed him to the garden outside and strange ideas kept formulating in his mind about the imminent situation. The reassuring smile which had been thrown mid way by Naina's mother did not aid much.

"You love her don't you?"

He first felt he hadn't heard right. This was the last question which he had been expecting. Now, which father would talk this way to his son's killer? He thought that it would be quite some time before he had propitiated their favors. But…

"You do, don't you?" he heard the question reiterate articulately.

He decided to stick to the truth and quietly nodded. There was a momentarily convoluted silence.

"Naina has always been the obdurate and staunch one. She was the jaan of the house and it was she who had rejoiced more than Naveen when he had been promoted to the rank of a standard official and had passed out with colorful feathers in his cap. Those priceless moments of cheerfulness, joy and color had been shattered with Naveen's untimely death and the false declared accusations. Those harsh moments days, are still quite etched in our memory. And then Naina's decision of following her brother's footsteps of becoming an outstanding officer while proving her brother innocent in the meantime rekindled the extinguished flame of hope in our hearts. We had retained the respect for equity the Indian Justice boasted of. In the academy, both your paths crossed – paths different but destiny same. I haven't thanked you enough for your undeterred support and guidance you had showered our daughter with, during those crucial moments of immaturity and loneliness."

Raj broke in, "No, sir, it's quite unneeded. It was my duty as her mentor to…"

He was interrupted,

"You stood beside her even before she was your protge. I still do remember that night when the news of your accident was flashed on the screen and how she broke down on the phone regarding your abandonment in her struggle and the deep void you had created in her heart. I'd just like to say that never bring anymore tears to her eyes. It's time both of you have your share of happiness."

Raj was speechless. Was this a dream or did he really have the unmentioned permission of his love's dad. He was lost. Then slowly, he bitterly realized that Naina might not have told her parent's of him being responsible for Naveen's death.

Gathering up courage, he painfully spoke up, "Thank You, Sir, but you probably are not aware of the grave dark moment of my life which regards your son too."

This earned him a sharp stark look.

" I am not worthy enough for your kind respect. Naveen's demise is due to my cowardice, I.."

A soft voice broke in," We know, beta. Hum sab jaante hain. Naveen tha hi aisa. Agar hum main se kise se uski qhwaish kehta to hum bhi yahi karte. Aur tumne to use begunah sabit karne main koi guzarish nahin chodi. Humnain jab sacchayi suni, to humain bhi bahut krodh aaya parantu uske baad jo tumnain kiyaq uska karz hum kabhi nahin chukka sakte. Tumhain to 14 saal jail ki bhi sazaa hui . Love had make you weak."

"Nahin Aunty", Raj managed to choke up, "Pyar ne mujhe bebas nahin banaya, ek vahi to hai jiske balbute par main aaj apna samman pa saka hun. Naina's my strength not my weakness."

His unshed tears now began to flow unstopped. He now also had a family. 'Bus Naina ki haan baki hai' he thought dizzily. The love and acceptance made him feel wanted and required. He now was considered a part of their family, and he resolved to protect them at all costs and terms. His newfound treasure was too invaluable and it was his second most priority.
