Part 13:-

Revision:- He now was considered a part of their family, and he resolved to protect them at all costs and terms. His newfound treasure was too invaluable and it was his second most priority.


Present Scenario:-

All of them were brought out of their emotional status by Naina?s appearance. She was astounded to see tears in her mom?s and Raj?s eyes. Even her dad looked quite sentimental. Concern overpowered her and she hurried towards them with those frowns clearly depicted on her creamy complexion. She put forth her worry but none of her parents replied. Finally, facing Rajveer her eyes bore into his demanding answers to wipe out her confusion. But all he said was sorry for delaying and ignoring her disbelief they walked inside. All she could do was follow them. By his time Arjun also was up and on the dining table she introduced Raj to her son. Raj smiled nervously when Arjun squealed at his sight and displayed signs so as to be in Raj?s arms. Naina was dumbstruck. All she could do was gaze open mouthed. Arjun was quite fussy and had often refused to approach strangers par idhar to manjra hi kuch aur tha. Her choosy son had in no time acknowledged Raj and was quite happily and surprisingly drinking his milk and having tidbits of breakfast which paradoxically contrasted with her forcing him to eat or sip even a morsel of his breakfast. She was in a daze. Raj's appearance out of nowhere, Arjun's weird behavior and her parent's reluctance contributed to the finest to her present scenario of mind.

But segregating her mounting questions for later, she hastily gulped down the remaining of her breakfast as she had a case to work on. She had acquired a rusty look with a corrosive denim jeans and white t-shirt which made Raj appreciate her dusky manifestation. He wasn't going to allow her to go alone. Handing over Arjun to Naina?s parents (or should I say in-laws; Naina jaldi haan kar do!! lol), he offered to accompany her. She initially declined his offer but when he pressurized her she gave in. As they made themselves in his black jeep, in which he had arrived, late last night, she asked him a question which had hounded her since last night,

"Sir, app kal achanak raat ko?.. Yahan?? "

"Vo haan. I was just concerned since the threat I heard you receive and wanted to check on you with your sudden departure last evening." He said vaguely.

But Naina had an intuition that there was more to the matter than what the hunky Major was letting out. She knew that he would not tell her now. It wasn?t the right time to pester him to reveal matters. Satisfying herself, with a sigh she sat back and enjoyed the lush and refreshed environment while the wind kept flirting with her tresses. When Raj glanced at her mid way, he was so engrossed and mesmerized by her exquisiteness that he didn?t pay heed to the approaching lorry. Naina suddenly look front and screamed. Brought out from his dream land, he suddenly sensed the situation and expertly maneuvered the jeep to safety and quickly stopped it letting out a sigh while Naina sat still rattled. Quickly unbolting his seat belt he hurried to her side and asked if she was alright. There was momentarily no response and then he found himself rubbing his ear. Naina had started yelling at him.

"Dekh ke gadi nahin chala sakte. Kahan tha aapka dhyan? Khud ko Shah rukh samjhte hain kya. Vo 'main hoon na' thi aur yeh reality.Hero giri! Main nahin chilati to aaj kya kya ho jaata. Aap itne careless kaise ho sakte hain? Absolutely Ridiculous!!! I hope you weren't day dreaming. Aap ek major hain aur aisi galti to khaas kar aap se nahin honi chahiye thi. Pata nahin war times main aapne khud ko kaise sambhala hua hoga. Alekh ne kaha tha ki app jaldi chalate hain phir bhi poora control hota hai ,par aaj!!uff!! main toh.."

Her mouth had been covered by Raj's sturdy hands. He looked amused while she fretted and fumed at his recklessness. He could notice shock lurking in those kohl lined almond shaped eyes.

"I am sorry! Actually something distracted me and I was too preoccupied.? "

Her eyes softened at his apology and her frowns eased. She quickly calmed herself and nodded in reply. "Ab dhyan se."

They quickly reached their destination.

Present Scenario:-

In the techno – suave office which was an important headquarters, both of them quickly stepped into the elevator. As they attained heights in physical meaning so did they emotionally in each other's eyes. Raj was blissful as Naina had unconditionally with no respect to his status ordered and yelled at him. It made him feel cared. He suddenly found himself recollecting those candid moments during the mentorship program where Major Bhargav had instigated his temper after the dangerous drill by accusing him of capturing hearts of both his colleague as well as his protge thereby indirectly blaming him of having an unethical relationship with Naina. He even during those times had been quite touchy regarding her and then Naina's words of no one's capability and potential of separating them and their mutual trust and belief did wonders too his heart. He realized that till date, they have overcome umpteenth number of hurdles successfully and have only grown closer with time.
Naina had parallel thoughts running through her mind. She slowly felt a blush creeping up her neck when she revised the incident that occurred a short while ago. She had screamed at him and all he did was place his palms on her soothing her anger and apologized. She grasped that most of the time with him she got her way even though it was she at fault. Pooja's words struck her "wo jo bhi karta hai tere liye aur jo nahin who bhi tere liye!" Suddenly she found tears threatening to overpower her at the thought that she was the reason for his unjustified imprisonment. All she has ever done was brought him pain. She had gone to the extent of even have shot him. And in response he still supported and guided her beyond the feeblest of horizons. She resolved never ever to confess her feelings. Painfully biting her lip to control those drops, she was engulfed with grief. But it was for his well – being. After the mission she would go away from his life forever.
Both were brought out of their thoughts with the elevator door opening. Composing herself, Naina stepped out first followed by Raj. She pondered as to why Raj had escorted this far. He had dropped her and now he could go back .She put forth her inquest and in reply all she got was a mysterious grin. Finally, bidding him a farewell she walked towards the conference room whereas Raj just stood still gazing at her till she disappeared from his line of vision.
Naina greeted Pooja and sat besides her waiting for the conference to start. She was given fresh information that the meeting now was highly confidential and only selected officers had been invited. A new officer was going to preside and conduct the proceedings. She looked around and found that there were only four colleagues accompanying them. There were about 10 more minutes for the convocation to begin. Closing her eyes and leaning back into the chair she reviewed all the data about the case they had on board right now with a black pen twirling in her fingers. Her thoughts thn drifted to Major Shekhawat. She was so engrossed in her own frame of mind that she failed to notice that everyone had raised from their seats with the entry of some senior.

Pooja almost nudged her when the official gave her a no-no sign. He approached Naina, and softly whispered so that only she could hear, "I think it's time you stop thinking about Mr. Special and get back to work." Her eyes flew open at the voice and she found her sight captured by chocolaty brown velvety eyes. A smug and mischievous now clouded those sharp manly features. Flushing from embarrassment at having been inattentive and to top it all the accusation hitting the bull's eye, she felt her eyes downcast. Worst it was he who had caught her red-handed of all people.

Part 15:-
"Actually, I umm…. Wasn't ….eh… daydreaming. I was………uhhh…………", she managed to stutter out, mind furiously scanning for excuses, though the earlier embarrassment still clouding over her thoughts helped no more. She almost tripped in a hurry to rise which just added fuel to fire.
"Planning on when next to blast me eh?" he whispered again.
Now completely self-conscious, relatively darker than the reddest of roses, all she managed to utter was a lame apology. Now shifting his focus with a sly grin, Major Rajveer Singh Shekhawat addressed the entire congregation. Regaining his professional, curt posture with absolute proficiency, the partial seminar- partial presentation-partial planning initiated. His eyes once or twice swam over his protge earning him a frown due to her dormant conduct in the conversation. Her mind appeared to be reeling, re-evaluating and re-cross-examining their means and modes of fighting back.
Naina true to his assumption had been accessing their data and strategies. Unconsciously when their eyes met, she understood the reproving look. But she wanted her tactics to materialize and for that to occur, she had to remain mum. She just couldn't yell out to him that she planned to use herself as a bait to lure Gehlot to commit a mistake by coming out in the open. He would without any second thoughts, discard her idea as superfluous and outrageous. Afterwards, true, he would be livid but then later she would make him see reason.
About an hour later while the other officers dispersed, Naina bent down as to pick up her fallen pen and vehemently began to pray that Raj doesn't question her right now. She quickly rose and almost ran to the door but to her dismay fount it securely shut. Her anxiety coupled with irritation when the door refused to budge.
"Isn't this remote-control combination lock cool and effective? 100% secure and quite invisible too. A friend of mine wanted me to check this gadget out. Quite a development, in safekeeping field, eh?" Raj said, while uploading information in the cd in his laptop and without even a glance in her direction. All he managed to evoke was a flustered "aye" from her.
"Looks like you still haven't managed to recover from the morning's incident, Naina." He finally continued after a prolong silence. He was quite aware of her discomfort. But still he failed to elicit an acute response (apart from her tinted cheeks). He knew one question that would definitely bring her out of her reverie.
"Marry me, hun!"
Yup, that worked just fine. Eyes wide and round, shock so prominent that it could induce second thoughts even in a stranger.
"Whoa…. What the …!" Naina began, her thoughts running bizarre along with her stumbling words.
"Finally, thought that if this wouldn't have worked then would have directly had to kiss you back to senses", said her luminary (though he mischievously pondered that wouldn't have helped, as he himself would have lost all voluntary control.)
Now Naina knew that all she wanted to do right now was disappear. Her bare effort of concealing those blushes creeping along her neck and cheek were pointless. The shy and quite hunk of a teacher's sudden makeover into a daring and blunt officer left her gasping like a gold fish.
"Anyways looks like you wouldn't want to let me into your conjuring secrets. Also your present condition wouldn't have aided you even if you did want to. Anyways gotta go. See you around."
With an airy look, he sauntered by innocently leaving Naina to curse herself.

Part 16:-
Only he knew how it was creating a hailstorm in his heart and mindset at Naina's quite demeanor. But it was high time that he shed his shy conduct around the female clan and work to woo his lady love. He was dead confident that it was going to be a Herculean task despite being aware of her emotions too. He was confused at her reluctance to share her thoughts. Was she blaming herself for his imprisonment? He could think of no other reason. He let out a groan and a sigh. She was unconsciously definitely ensuring that he end up in the mental asylum. It was high time that they settle scores. The key to her abstract thinking process would be Alekh!!

Evening:-
Naina was flabbergasted. Major Shekhawat had just left her house in fit of fury. She had never seen him so out of control. Everything seemed to go on at a roller coaster's pace. His sudden barging into her house, his angry questions and then immediate departure left her mystified. Whilst her thoughts could shape up into concrete possibilities, Arjun's loud sobs entailed her to give him her attention. What she didn't know was the brave innocent blunder which she was going to commit by endangering herself was inadvertently averted by her TDH mentor.


She was definitely a blind fool!!!!!! A gorgeous spirited fool, he couldn't help adding. His 'phool'. His thunderous anger softened at her nave approach. How dare……… how could she blame herself for his harsh fate. His talk with Alekh made him realize with shock the cynical truth. One thing that he was 100% positive was as long as he was alive she would never prostrate herself in front of traitors and lunatics. He never doubted that women were less capable of handling critical situations. Nevertheless he also believed that women were made to be cherished and protected to be loved and respected. And for a man who was so deeply in love, he knew it would be a sheer torture if he sees Naina suffer. Damn with his patience. He now knew that she reciprocated. She was now going to be his only his by hook or crook. Pity, she didn't know what was going to hit her. And so would their enemies. A devilish smirk enveloped his raw spiced look.

Naina bid adieu to her mom and dad. They were going to Bangalore to attend the wedding of a friend's daughter. She was going to miss them horribly. They had opted to take Arjun with them and she had complied. She knew things were now going to get rough and the farther was the family away from this mess, the safer they were going to be. She also knew that they would be safe in Bangalore as the friend was the head of the police faculty.

Naina awoke quite early. It was around 4:30 am. She quickly gulped down a glass of water before hurrying to change into a pair of casuals for a jog. By the time she had cooked up a breakfast, boiled the milk and dusted the house, it was 6. She was bent to work out extra today.
Strapping a waist mini knapsack, she hurried outdoors after securely locking up her house. It was her fifth round around the park when she heard screams and laughter ringing though the basketball court in the vicinity. Curious, she approached the stadium and was astonished to find Alekh, Huda, Ali, Yudi and Captain Abhimanyu playing against the local goons. The goons stirred up unpleasant fights and were presently at the zenith of mischief creation. In the earlier encounters, they had eyed Pooja and her weirdly much to both their discomforts.
Naina found the announcer's cubicle quite empty. After denoting her presence to her friends, she quickly made her way to the chair and picked up the mike and switched on the speakers. Boy, did she love to commentate. If she wouldn't have been in the army, she would have definitely become a commentator after completing her MBA.
She began:-
"And its officers who are in possession, Yudi with the ball dribbling energetically towards the opponent ring, looking good!! Ah!!! Ball intercepted by red shirt civilian… whoa whoa quite a throw……. Must say you've got a bad throw Mr...umm red shirt . Out of court.(A low chuckle escaped her.) Must be good at javelin, I suppose. The army men get the the throw, Ali passes on the ball to Alekh, good catch ….. Abhi sir receives the ball and wonderful!!!!!!! officer's score – 6-2.. And we see Alekh again in possession and hell that was a foul!!!!!!!!
An outrageous cry escaped her when she saw Alekh limping towards her after a dirty foul on his leg. Ouch, that must have burned she thought. His reassurance after plopping down on the nearby couch eased her worry a trifle. Instead of resting, he grabbed onto the mike and continued on her behalf:-
"Nice swerve there by Ali, cool dribbling ….. Fantastic ……. Ali scores. Nice work there chap.. Score – 8-2.
By now the goons were getting frustrated and had started restoring to not so spirited and ethical means.
"Hey that was AN INTENTIONAL FOUL you SCUMTOAD!!! Screamed Alekh into the mike when a crew cut guy deliberately stomped on Abhi sir's foot when he attemoted to do a lay-up. Naina shocked at the language tried to pry away the mike while Alekh danced away from her reach.
What they didn't realize was morning joggers had all thronged over to see the match. Mainly college students!
The game got dirtier despite the unequal no. of players in both the teams. "Come on Huda !!" yelled Alekh into the silence that had descended. Huda managed an overhead pass but was crookedly intercepted by a leech looking somber fellow who pushed Yudi hurting his nose. And then the goons scored!
"8-4. Take that you DIRTY, LEECH – CHEATING…."
Naina hurriedly interrupted – "Alekh Do you mind commentating in an unbiased way!!!"
"I am saying the way it is behna.."
Huda wasn't the one to take things lightly. In retaliation, he bumped into a hefty built mustachio while saving the basket.
"Yes, I don't believe it, Huda's saved it………!! POKE HIM IN THE EYE, … YUDI"
"Sorry, sorry madam Ahluwalia, it wouldn't happen again."
It was turning into the filthiest match ever played. Naina was exasperated and excited at the same time. She knew to win, they needed another player. It seemed God had her plea because at that instant Major Rajveer Singh Shekhawat entered the premises. Dressed in dark denim and beige T-shirt he looked just out of the shower. Naina couldn't help drinking his exotic form.

A greeting and he was pulled into the match. With Raj, into the match, the game took a bizarre turn…. The officers had begun coring goal after goal and they also were cheating... TIT for TAT….. Finally having pushed the goons to their angry potential, one of the goons pulled back Raj's t-shirt hurting him in the shin when he attempted a jump shot. Naina was now angry enough to kill the guy. She didn't even bother to tell Alekh off when he bellowed into the mike:-
"YOU CHEATING IDIOTIC SCUMBAG……." She herself was showing her fist to them. Huda and Abhimanyu sir, now began to play violently. Finally after another hour of play, the army officers had won. A roar of applause rippled through the spectators.
At the end of the mach what Naina didn't understand was why on the earth was Raj ignoring her!!!
