Part 7:-
Raj couldn't control his tears when he was once again bejeweled with the stars, medals and credentials denoting his rank. He had become a Major in the Indian Army. This once upon wistful wish had come true. He was elated, honored, proud and ecstatic and yet something nagged his mind. He could perceive a strange sense of apprehension. His eyes traveled over the throng of people assembled there. All of them were all smiles. His favorite bunch looked joyous. All six of them were now his colleagues now apart from just being his strength and assertion. After being felicitated, all his acquaintances expressed their hearty joy and deep remorse at being of no help. He was floored by 'congratulations' in the next couple of hours. After the small ceremonial function, every one retired and his eyes scampered around the remaining small couplets and triplets left. His gaze landed upon Alekh, Huda, Yudi, Ali and Pooja. He walked over to them. Initially there was moment of silence and then screams and shouts soared around the hallway. He thanked all his Cadets for their assistance and rooted credence in him. He had no words for Alekh. Alekh also understood the unspoken message and gave a small smile and a nod while his eyes gleamed with triumph and respect. He found out that Ali and Pooja had married 7 months ago and Alekh was betrothed to Neelu. After having expressed his hearty congratulations he said,
"Guys, mujhe kuch poochna hai."
"Kya sir?" asked Pooja.
"Abhimanyu kahan hai. Kya use nahin maloom ki mujhe beizzat bali kiya gaya hai?"
The painful, desperate and longing tone was evident.
The cadets looked upon their selfless teacher who still cared and was concerned about Abhimanyu because of whom he had lost four years of his life. They knew Abhimanyu Sir couldn't be blamed directly but still if he hadn't told Nandini about the extent of the once-existed strained tension between Naina and Raj regarding the death of Naveen and Raj's effort to reduce their drifting gap, then today would have been completely different.
Hesitatingly, Yudi spoke up –'Who actually Sir ko………"
The strong musical voice interrupted, "Apne is dost se maafi maangne ki himmat jataane main thoda waqt lag gaya."
The word 'Euphoric' itself was insufficient to describe Raj's feelings. Abhimanyu was right in front of his eyes. Without wasting a second, both of them hurried forward and grasped the other with over-powering emotions. The lost time couldn't be recovered, but then they had each others friendship in the coming years.
After the tearful and jubilant reunion Raj thanked Abhimanyu furiously for his undeterred assistance and support to their once-upon-a-time-cadets and his faith in him.
He was glad that he hadn't lost another one of his close friends.
Naina was missing. God is she a witch or something. She disappears from the location every alternate hour. His eyes then landed on Huda who was now hugging some pretty young lass. Hasn't changed a bit, Raj thought grimly yet paradoxically with a grin. Walking arm in arm with Abhi towards the 'Famous 5' he cocked and eyebrow obviously demanding an explanation as to what was happening. The reply was deafening. Huda had been hugging his wife. They had got married a year and a half ago. Then Naina! What about her? Huda replied that she had lost her heart to someone else. The hope which had been building after the first sentence had shattered with the completion of the second. "She loved someone else!!!!" He reminded himself that he had prepared himself for this outcome, but yet how could he console his heart which was searing and throbbing with numb pain and soreness. He couldn't help feeling jealous yet angry at the man who had managed to steal away the most priceless possession of his. Yet the years had strengthened his resolve. A true soldier he was. Her happiness was all that he wanted.
Naina's POV:-
Naina had been silently observing the proceedings and had been hanging on to her love's every movement, his words and his actions. It felt so good to see him in action. She was brought out of her reverie by the ring of her cell. The anonymous caller threatened that if she didn't meet him outside within an hour then Arjun would be hurt.
No! No one dared to touch her son. Quickly checking the gun and all the bullets, she hurried towards the exit with a last glance at him.
Naina glided around the ground and her muscle twitched into motion when she was uncouthly grabbed around her neck. She let her body limp, an expert move to trick the person into easing his hold on her when she had learnt Judo and martial arts. The man falling for her move, soon lay on the floor with a gun pointed at his temple. Her flashing eyes and functional state of attack was enough to make a mark that she wasn't one to be messed with.
"Arjun ko koi haath bhi nahin laga sakta. Khaas kar jab tak main zinda hoon.
'Ab mujhe maarke koi fayada nahin, mujhe bas ye sandesh dene ke liye bheja gaya hai ki your good luck is going to run out. Enjoy your last moments of peace. Hell is going to break out on you and Major Rajveer. Had to use your son to lure you into coming here. You see personal delivery of message. And haan lala sahib ke saath koi ched-chad nahin karta. Tumne to sirf cheda nahin hai par ek zahreele naag ko uksaya hai."
And then kicking her gun with his leg and pinning her beneath him he slapped her which momentarily stunned her and utilizing her inability he then ran away.
Frustration was evident from her expression. He had got away. She now had to be extremely cautious. Nothing was going to happen to Raj and Arjun; she was bound to make sure of that.
