Kaajjal completes the rest of the show with a confused mind and heavy heart. Dev is constantly haunting her thoughts. She is about to leave the radio station when she hears her name.
"Kaajjal," MT (the owner of Missourie radio station, remember J) calls her. "Yes MT," she turns around
"idhar aa, mujhay zaroori baat karni hai." And Kaajjal walks into his office.
"I have heard someone is making a 5-star hotel in Missourie." MT starts,
"Really," Kaajjal is pleasantly surprised, "that's wonderful!! This will be the first 5-star hotel in town." Kaajjal is excited.
"Yeah, I know, come to think of it, tourists, people; everyone will be flocking to Missouri if they have enough amenities for a luxurious stay." MT is also excited. "That's why Kaajjal, I want you to call that person on your show, who is making this hotel."
"On my show" Kaajjal is surprised.
"See, your's is the most heard show in town. So, how good will it be to break the news to the Missouri people that we will have a 5-star hotel in town, which will bring with it, revenues and prosperity for Missouri." Kaajjal is listening intently, and agrees with every word he says.
"Ok, so do you know who that person is?" Kaajjal gives her consent.
"No. but I do know he has the best location in town. On top of the "sunset point" cliff." MT tells her all that he knows.
"Ok, no problem, I will go there and find about him myself." Kaajjal says with assurance, but MT is a little concerned. "Don't worry MT; he will be on our show tomorrow morning. Promise" She says with amazing confidence, and leaves.
She gets a taxi to go to the site. 'I might get some information from there about who is making this hotel.' She gets out of the taxi, and sees some people standing there by the site. 'Looks like, they have already started the work.' she see some trucks, some bulldozers. She walks to a man standing there with some papers.
"Excuse me," she says
"ji,"
"Can you tell me about the person who is making this hotel? I mean the owner of it?" Kaajjal asks,
"Yes, there" he point out to a man, "that man in white suit, he is the owner."
"Thank you," Kaajjal follows his finger point direction, and reaches the man. His back is towards her, he is engrossed in some architectural plans of the hotel. Standing next to him, are the architect and the engineer of the site. The plan is laid on the table and he is bent on it. Kaajjal waits for a moment to let him finish his scrutiny, and then when he lifts his head towards the men, she says,
"Excuse me,"
"Yes," she hears his crisp, thorough professional voice, and he turns his head towards her. It feels as if the world has come to a stand still. She could not believe her eyes, it was none other than Dev. How she wished she could run away from here - Right now. 'O my God, it's him. Why are you doing this Gannu Bhaiyya? Why are you making me meet him again and again? Why?' Her heart pleas to Gannu Bhaiyya silently. She has forgotten to speak, her eyes rested on Dev, with disbelief.
On the other hand, Dev turns his head and sees Kaajjal standing there. The same Missouri look - hair tied in a choti with two hairlocks touching her cheeks from both sides of the face. Same light makeup, almost non-existent, and the same kameez and skin tight pajamas, with dupatta wrapped arounf her neck. He is lost in her simplicity and her immense beauty. 'What is Kaajjal doing here?' his heart whispers. He had seen this roop of Kaajjal after a very long time, and all he wants right now is to run to her, and grab her in his arms, but he refrains. Two men are standing beside him, and his professionalism demands courtesy.
"May I help you?" he says in a firm tone, and this leaves Kaajjal speechless. She has seen this man running after her, almost begging her for love, and now his tone is like … like what … her heart is not able to understand. But she does know that she doesn't like this tone. 'O God, what is wrong with me. For a moment I can't feel that love in his voice and my heart is going crazy.' Her heart whispers. 'I want to hear the same voice I have been hearing, I want to hear the same love in his tone, the same possessiveness.' And she is shocked at her own feelings, 'What in the world is wrong with me???' She tries to get hold of herself,
"Mr. Singh, aap?" she says in a dreamy tone. She wants to call him Dev, but her tongue is not supporting her. She is unable to say Dev. This name always creates havocs with her senses, and so she finds refuge in Mr. Singh.
On the other hand, when Dev hears her call him Mr. Singh, he starts fuming again. 'She doesn't even want to take my name? Does she hate me this much, does she hate my name this much that she just refuses to let it out of her mouth.' And anger takes over. 'How can she do this to me? Come on Kaajjal, main Dev hoon, tumhara Dev.' He is fast approaching breaking point, angry and fuming at the same time. Both are lost in their thoughts, when Dev speaks,
"Mr. Mehta, Mr. Agarwal, I will see you in a few minutes." Dev looks back at the architects and gives a slight nod of his head, and they leave. He turns back to Kaajjal, fixing his eyes on her.
"Mr. Singh mai … mai… main nahi janti thi yeh aap ka project hai?" Kaajjal begins. And this time when Dev hears her saying Mr. Singh again, he looses it completely. 'Alright, if that's what you want, that's what I shall give you Kaajjal Behl,' he thinks, and replies,
"mera aik aik minute bohat qeemti hai." He says in a crisp tone, "tu aap jo kehna chahti hain jaldi kahiyay." And this gives another jerk to Kaajjal. She is only used to seeing him with love in his eyes, but this was a new Dev Pratap Singh – controlled, arrogant, and suave; whose every word is calculated and every move is dignified.
"As you already know, I work in Missourie radio station." Kaajjal starts, composing herself. "We found out that someone is building a 5-star hotel in our town, and we are truly excited about it." Kaajjal is talking and Dev is looking at her. She looks at Dev, and upon seeing his intense gaze on her, her heart stops beating. 'O god!! Damn you Dev Pratap Singh, for having this effect on me.' Her heart shouts in the middle of the conversation, but thank god it's only her heart. She gets hold of her self and continues,
"And we were wondering, if you would give us the privilege of an interview?" she pauses, looks at him with reluctance ad continues, "On my show." Dev is seeing and hearing her closely all the time, witnessing all the colors crossing her face. But 'Mr. Singh' is really haunting him.
"And, why would I waste my time on this?" Dev asks in an authoritative tone, his anger evident in his tone. Kaajjal holds her breath, she has to convince him; she has promised MT.
"You see Mr. Singh" she starts again, and Dev is about to slap her hard at this constant torture of Mr. Singh. He can't take this Mr. Singh nonsenseany more, but he lets her have her way. "You are investing millions of rupees in Missouri. Don't you think people of Missouri have a right to know and share this happiness?" Kaajjal looks at him purposefully, and Dev starts thinking here.
"My show is the most popular show in Missouri, which has the capacity to bring your voice to it's people in the most effective way." She is talking in a professional way now, excited, and baby like. And Dev is just lost in her. "You can give them any message you want. And above all, you can make them feel, that this hotel, is not an intruder, but a part of their lives." Kaajjal says and Dev is spellbound at her words. 'I always knew you had it in you Kaajjal, you make me so proud,' Dev's heart smiles, for he knew she had a very valid point. He is still thinking when Kaajjal speaks again.
"So will you come, Mr. Singh?" 'Ok that's it, I can't take this Mr. Singh nonsense anymore.' His heart almost shouts at her.
"Ok fine," he shouts in a toned down tone, and Kaajjal holds her breath. 'Now what have I done?' She thinks, at his sudden anger. However, Dev controls himself.
"Ok, I will be there. What time did you say?" he asks in the same authoritative tone.
"8:50 AM, my shows starts at 9 AM, and I want you to be the first surprise for Missouri tomorrow." She says in an enthusiastic tone.
"Ok, I'll be there." His heart is breaking now. He is not seeing that love in her; he is dying for that love in her eyes, in her voice, in her body language. However, all he is seeing is a professional girl, who wants to interview an executive. 'tum aisy kuin ho gaee ho Kaajjal. kya meri ghalti itni bari thi kay mujhay kabhi mafi na millay. Kab tak yeh berukhi sehni ho gi mujhay.' His heart is crying with these thoughts and Kaajjal sees it on his face. The same colors, the same feelings, she had witnessed earlier, and her heart jumps. Silently, somewhere deep down in her heart, she wanted to see this Dev again. She wanted to see this love and this passion in his eyes. Her face is stern, but her heart is smiling. They keep looking at each other for what seemed like an eternity, and Kaajjal realizes she has to go, before her heart gets out of control.
