"Ab to Usmaan bhi humare saath nahi hai Aalekh, hum yahan kaise act karenge?? Hume to yahan ke locales ke baare me kuch zyaada nahi pata!!" Said Ritu while they were still walking in search of some safe place to hide.

"Tumhe hua kya hai Ritu?? You're sounding more like a lover, than like a Captain of the Indian Army!!"

Ritu was astonished by his curt remark, "Why are you talking to me like this Aalekh??"

"Because you're forcing me to do that!! I mean we're used to such situations aren't we?? Tumhaare pichley mission me, when you were all alone in Afghanistan, I'm sure aisa khyaal tab bhi tumhaare mann me nahi aaya hoga even in a situation worse than this!!"

Ritu preferred to stay quiet at her insensibility.

"Ab chup kyun ho?? Bolo kuch!!" He stressed.

"Kyunki mera pichla mission personal nahi tha Aalekh……you know what it means to me this time….." She again went silent.

"Ya right!! This time it may mean your heart-break to you Ritu, kyunki andar sachchai tum bhi jaanti ho….acha hoga tum uske liye khud ko abhi he prepare kar lo!!"

Both of them remained silent for the rest of their walk. They separated and inspected the area their way for about an hour.

"Kuch mila??"

"Sabji mil rahi hai, khaaogi??" He answered as that area was hosting a sabji-mandi that time.

"Stop it Aalekh!!"

"Never mind, according to the map, this way leads to many more villages ahead and we can……"

"Aalekh kuch gadbad hai!! I can't get it but tumhe nahi lagta hum yahan kuch zyaada he aasaani se pahunch gaye??"

"Now what does that mean??" He said in an irritated tone.

"Come to think of it Aalekh hume Keran border cross karne me koi problem nahi hui!! Ye kaise ho sakta hai??? Ye area itna vulnerable hone ke bavajood……I mean…..meri gut-feeling kuch aur he keh rahi hai!!"

"Is someone following us??"

"But humara plan to sirf hum teen logon tak he tha na??" She questioned the fact.

"Haan….magar…" He couldn't complete as he pulled Ritu and himself beside a hut to hide.

"Kya kar rahe ho Aal….."

"Shhhhhh……..stay quiet!!"

"Koi hai kya vahan??"

"Vahan char log khade hain Ritu…." He whispered.

"To??"

"They're equipped!!"

"What?? Par is crowded area me to….."

"Right, in masum logon ki jaan jaa sakti hai!!"

"To hume inhe bachana chahiye na…"

"We can't do that damn it!! We can't afford to catch their sight if we have to survive in the long run!!"

"You've gone crazy or what Aalekh?? We ought to do something….."

Aalekh kept quite for a while when an idea popped from Ritu.

"Ek kaam kar sakte hain!!"

"What??"

"Chalo mere saath!!"

They looked for an empty hut and came out disguised as the locals of that area. Camouflaging with the residents of that place, they kept moving about for about an hour. The mandi wrapped-up, so did the crowd and all went peacefully. Ritu was totally shocked at the peace but Aalekh wasn't.

"Tum ek number ke duffer ho!! Koi ammunition nahi thi unke paas…."

"Ritu now don't expect me to joke at such grave matters all-right!! Ammunition the!!" He stressed.

"Oh! Then they may be there for decoration purposes….."

"Damn it you still don't get this?? They were for us!! Agar hum unhe dikh jaate to vo hume maar dete…" He explained.

"How would they know us??"

"Ritu tum sach me pagal ho chuki ho!! There may be some internal officer involved aur kya??"

"Don't tell me you're blaming Colonel Chandra!!"

"Look!! I can't blame anyone as of now par haan vo mere shaq ke dayare me hai zarur"

"Theek hai, isme problem kya hai?? Aa jaate hain apne "legally correct" roop me!!"

"Kya matlab?"

"Janaab Arzaan Habib aur hum unki beghum Nagma Habib. No one can challenge my paper-work you see!!" She winked.

They found a solitary shelter about half a kilometer away from that village and went through their much needed makeover.

KNOCK KNOCK!!!

A girl switched-on the light of her house at about 2:30 a.m. as she heard someone thriving the door very desperately.

KNOCK KNOCK!!

"Raat ke is waqt kaun hai beta??"

"Dekh rahe hain Abbu-jaan!!" She got-up and opened the door. She stopped for a while before opening as the desperate slamming was now taken over by patient silence. She was also reluctant to open the door due to Red-Alert.

"Kya hua beta khol naa!! Shaayad koi raahgir madad ki talaash me aaya hoga."

She smiled and opened the door but as she did that, a stranger, weak and wounded, fell before her, lying unconscious.

"Ya Allah!!! Lagta hai phir in berehem logon ne kisi Hindustani ki zindagi ke saath….Ise andar le aa beta!!" Said her Abbu and she did as she was told.

They laid him comfortably on the bed and made him as comfortable as they could.

"Khwahish beta, batti bujha ke lantern jala de!! Bahar kisi afsar ko pata chal gaya to ise zinda nahi chodenge!!"

"Jee Abbu!!"

"Aur haan!! Marham-patti ka samaan bhi leti aana….ise bahut chot aayi hai…"

"Aapki tabiyat khud achi nahi hai Abbu, aap jakar so jaiye, hum inhe dawa laga denge!!"

As she insisted, Khwahish's Abbu went to sleep while she cleaned and dressed his wounds. Every time he winced in pain, all he was able to mutter was… "Naina"

Khwahish smiled and said to herself, "Hum dua karte hain ki aap jaldi se theek ho jaayein aur Naina, jinhe shaayad aap apni ibadat maantey hain, unke hothon ki muskaan bhi hamesha barkaraar rahe"

She finished dressing his wounds and went off to sleep.

i love alekh-ritu fr wt they r doing that is searching fr raj....they hv risked their life n it wont go futile....they will get raj .... 😊 😊 ...i m writting as if i m the writer of the fic 😉 😉

wel khuda reham farmaye khwaish aur uske abbu par! 😳 😳 unhone mere raj ki jaan jo bachaai hai!!
the last scene where raj muttered naina....ws too senti...and the one in the previous part also....where he closed his eye n said naina!!! 😭 😭
