Chapter 11 – Unwritten, Unspoken

The sun blazed inward to the room. As her eyes fluttered open, the sun illuminated the darkness. Beams, stretched across the room, bring life into the yellow, gray, white room. Kripa rubbed her eyes, as she walked into the bathroom. She stripped off her skimpy silk pink tank and shorts, Kripa reached for her towel, and wrapped her self. Drawers, wobbled in and out, as Kripa looked for a clip. She twisted her thick brown hair up into a bun, and reached for her Noxzema bottle and began cleansing her face.

Kripa sighed and tapped the radio as it aired, "hey, hey, hey, this is 104.1 KRBE! With your morning tunes! So New York City, are you awake? If not here a foo sizzle to wake you up! Unwritten by Natasha Benfield."

She walked over into her shower stall, and unwrapped the towel, and turned the knob and scorching warm water touched her skin. She sang, out loud, twisting around in the shower as she danced. She squirted a blob of shampoo and rinsed it into her hair.

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

She washed out the shampoo and flip, tossed her head. Kripa twirled along with the music.

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

She grabbed the bottle of Dove Body Wash, as the leathered her self and scrubbed her self. Till the filth washed away, and she swayed and chirped.

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your innovations
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

Kripa reached for towel and draped it over her. She didn't even bother to dry her hair. She pranced, and shimmed down to the music. She bobbed her head and turned up the music. She spun, shaked along with the music.

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inner visions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
To the years where your book begins

Angad drove up to the Sharma Mansion. He liked it. It was simply, friendly, and open. This was nearly, almost has become, his 3rd home, the Khanna Palace, his office and now Kripa's home. The Khanna palace was the place were he could be alone, office where he could work and handle affairs. And Kripa's home, where he could laugh out loud and surrender away from the loneliness and commerce world.

He walked up to the steps; he greeted the butler and asked. "Where are Simran and Kripa?"

"Ms. Simran is having breakfast with Mr. Raul Bose in the family kitchen. Ms. Kripa is in her room," replied the butler.

"Thanks. Go ahead and inform Simran and Raul that I, Angad, am here." With those words, he head towards Kripa's room.

Angad climbed the staircase two steps by two steps and followed into the hallway that led towards Kripa's bedroom. Kripa strutted out of her room, with the music blasting. She continued dancing and jumping, along with the radio. She soloed along. She shook her hair, the curls, wobbled at their own tune. Angad twisted the door knob, as Kripa carried the tune. Angad had been in there loads of times. They had spent night and days talking about their pasts, their thoughts, and their notions on life. He walked in carelessly with out a thought.

Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else

Angad stood shocked, mesmerized and foolish. He literally, checked Kripa out. She looked like an angel, an over –excited childish angel. Her dark brown hair, wet with natural curled ringlets, that hinted light brown with butterscotch highlights, the sun, made every drop of water that shook out of her hair; seem as if they were like diamonds being flown. The yellow towel against her light, fair brown toned skin contrasted well. Too well. Her chocolate brown eyes dazzled. Angad stared at her figure. She could be a model. She had the hourglass figure.

"Damn," he breathed. 'She would be beautiful, to bed with.' Angad thought sub-consciously. As he tried to paint images in this mind. Angad figured, she was the reason why sex and lust were created by God.

Angad mental begged himself to get a grip. He shook out every lustful thought. They were friends. Just friends. Kripa turned. She gawked at Angad, before she knew it the words, "GET OUT!" had been slipped out of her mouth. Her hands instinctively flew to her shoulders, and her knees crossed themselves. Angad rushed out, banging the door close.

Kripa stood in the protective mood for a whole moment. Shivers shook her from head to toe.

Angad gasped for air, and cursed himself, what was he thinking? How could he have walked in with out knocking? Shit, shit, and shit. He cursed himself.

"Soham, why my baby? Why Simran have to be diagnosed? Will they be okay? I'm worried, let go back to New York. And I don't feel comfortable in India anymore, everything has changed, people are greedier for wealth." Kaveri asked. Soham placed his hand on hers.

"Don't worry. She will be fine. I know it, I feel it. And not all of them are greedy, sweetheart. It's just Mr. and Mrs. Asthenia." He smiled gently.

"I hope so, why don't we go back. Back to New York, Simran and Kripa need us." Soham let a sigh out. This lady was going to the death of him. He wondered how she ever became a lawyer. She was such a worry wart about Kripa and Simran. He resolved, she was a mother.

"Kaveri, when Kripa was born, I named her. We named her. You do remember what her name means?"

"Grace, her name means grace." She smiled, remembering when Kripa was born. She was so tiny. Kaveri never once thought of the pain she went through, it was worth it. Worth watching her big warm brown eyes open up, worth hearing her rattling first cry, worth feeding the result of the love she shared with your soul mate. Her child was simply worth every breath, and every heart beat she had.

"Kripa, will watch over Simran, she has a lot of you. That's why I named her with K and not S." He laughed. People said when a woman was pregnant her face a glow of nature, but Soham, cross that thought, when a woman was a mother she was a part of nature. Soham reached over and kissed Kaveri's forehead.

"That doesn't matter; Kripa looks a lot like you. And Kripa has more of you."

"And Simran looks like you."

"Doesn't matter. But both of them act like you. Their mischief and loudness." She pouted. Kaveri smiled internally. She loved Soham. They way he would come around, calming her and teasing her. He was beautiful and she was blessed.

"But their thoughts, words, emotions, are like you." He sighed, "They will both look after each other. I have confidence in them, and our values."

"Soham." Kaveri whimpered. He always, had her. Always, whether it was with words or actions.

"I love you, too." Soham wrapped his left arm around his wife. Kaveri grabbed her book and made her self comfy. Soham placed his laptop on his legs, crossed his ankles, and began wrapping up some office work. Their breathing was shallow. They had been married for 26 years and the love was as strong as ever. Soham's mind was irritated. Kaveri sensed the trouble; she waited for him to speak.

"Simran likes Raul. But what about Kripa? She is reaching age, of marriage. She is 24. Is there someone in her heart?" he thought out loud.

"I don't think so," she paused, "if there was, she would have said so. Our daughters are open with us. And I believe we have given them enough room and love that they can come to us, and let us know. If they can't tell us, I am positive they can tell each other."

"What do you think about Angad Khanna?"

"I don't know. It could happen. I don't think so, yet."

"I like him. Raul is perfect the way he is. He sums up for Simran. Well."

"I agree. He has a bright future, good moral and values. Our daughters will find their ways. It's time to let go of their fingers. They will wobble and sway, Soham, but they will not fall. We will watch over them."

"We will, together." Soham replied confidently. He wasn't too pleased with the thought his baby girls were awed in other men's walks and talks. He thought of the times his girls would run around him, chasing each other, or well, Kripa chasing Simran or when they would argue over who loved him the most.

"And forever." Kaveri supported.

"Let's go to sleep. We still have to go to Agra tomorrow, for that function. And will be have to wake up early," With those words Soham closed his laptop and turned the lamp off. Kaveri placed her book on the night stand, and snuggled closer to the well-fit body of her husband. Soham leaned in and place a kiss on her lips. He lingered his lip there, as Kaveri breathed.

"I love you," escaped her mouth that was the best she could weave together as he turned over and placed a kiss at her jaw line, right beneath Kaveri's lips, and surplged another kiss at the hollow of her collarbone.

Who knew, what was to take place in the next hours of life? Life was short, and death was unexpected. Love was deep, and Loneliness distant. Or was loneliness near?

Still feeling awkward, Kripa came out, of her room. She sighed. He was gone. But where? Laughter echoed upstairs. She heard the booming laughter of the cousin pair. Angad and Raul. The corners of her mouth lifted. Kripa walked the walk, down the hall, but she paused at the stairs. '1 message' Kripa glanced at her vibrating phone. She shuffled through her LG Phone and read the text.

A movement caught his eyes. Helplessly, Angad stared at her. Pink was better than yellow. Any day. "Don't think of that towel," he fought back.

Kripa was wearing a pink churidar with sliver working. It was embodied heavily, she wore no jewelry, and her make-up was bare with a hint of tinted bronze foundation, her eye shadow was neutral tinted sliver, she had a light glimpse of pink gloss on her lips. Nothing more or nothing less. She was a natural beauty.

Kripa nearly laughed out loud. 'Help! The Bose donkey and the Khanna monkey are gaining up on Sharma baby!' She had to pat Simran on the back for her sense of humor. Seriously, where did that child pick up, Bose "donkey" and Khanna "monkey"?

"Angad, dude. Who's right, me or Simran?" Raul asked.

"I'm right. I'm always right! And I know everything. So shut up, Raul." Simran cut through.

"Wrong, kiddo. So tell me, did the chicken come first or did the egg?" Angad asked smartly. His smile was smug as he bit back the urge to smirk. He loved messing up Simran's little head. She was the most adorable thing in the world.

"Uh, ah, well, hem, woh, um, ugh, ahem, uff, hmm, uh," she paused as her cheeks turned pinkish; "First of all, I am not a kiddo, Angad Khanna!"

Angad and Raul peeked at each other and burst out laughing. Kripa walked, into the breakfast area, where her baby sister looked annoyed and irritated. She pulled up a chair, and sat down. "Good Morning!" she greeted. Before anyone had a chance to greet Kripa back, Simran began her string of complaints.

"Didi, yeh log muje pehreshan kartge hai!" she spoke in a well accented Hindi. Raul looked shocked, Angad looked baffled. ("Sister, these people are bugging me!")

"You can speak in HINDI?" they exclaimed obliviously in shock. Kripa looked at Angad and Raul as if they were retarded.

"DUR! You douches! Of course I can speak in Hindi. I can speak in Hindi, English, Urdu, Guajarati, and French! And a little Punjabi!" Simran answered in a modest tone.

"Wow."

"Aren't men dogs? Even when they compliment you, it sounds like a howl." Kripa winked at Simran.

"That all men, do, howl and be the biggest dogs in the world."

"Yeah, yeah," Raul cut in, it took a few seconds to register what they said, "wait, what?" Being the bratty big kids, they were, both Kripa and Simran rolled their eyes, as Angad and Raul tried to defend their sex.

Kripa sipped the last of her coffee, and propped the last piece of syrup covered pancake into her mouth. Simran tapped her glass of orange juice as Raul and Angad helped clear the table. Angad grabbed a dishrag and wiped down the table. Kripa stood up and walked over to the sink and placed her coffee cup and plate to the side. "Leave it, Angad, the maid will do the rest."

Kripa was impressed, a man with looks, a man with body, a man with manners, a man with humor, a man with brains, a man with great leadership skills, a man with potential, a man with confidence, a man with a bright future, and a man with housecleaning skills. She was on her toes, to get a glimpse of super-man like him. She prayed, she'd get a man like him.

"Hey, guys, I'm going to the firm, I have to wrap up a little work, so I'll be back in like 2-3 hours. And then, we can all head out to the beach or where ever." Raul announced.

"I'm coming to the firm with you. I need to talk to Henry, about some legal documents," said Angad.

"Oh okay, that fine, me and Kripa Didi, need to catch up a bit."

Raul leaned inward as he placed a kiss on Simran's cheek and whispered, "Love you, baby. And check out our predictions, will you?"

They glanced at Angad and Kripa who were high five-ing each other and smiled. "Why don't you weasel Angad's feelings, and I'll get Kripa's." The grins on Simran and Raul's face were big and ear splitting. Younger siblings are the most irritating things on the face of the earth, and they, Raul and Simran, both proved that notion right.

"Sims," Kripa used the old pet name, "Haven't things changed, a lot, in these two weeks? It's like everyone has changed, Mom and Dad." They sat outside in the balcony. The view was beautiful, the green grass was dancing at the tunes of the wind, whereas the sun was playing hide seek. The world was in, simple, harmony. Their lives were at their fingertips and mercy, fate was yet, unheard, unseen and uncared about.

"I know, Kirps, mom asking for forgivingness, and giving us a ton of blessings, dad talking to us the future. It feels awkward. I don't like this feeling. It's like I'm going to lose them or something. I don't like it."

"Something's wrong I can feel it." Suddenly the wind seemed dictator like forced the grass to sway upon its commands. The disappearance of the sun seemed to be foreshadowing the gray future ahead.

"Kirps, promise me, you will be there? Forever and ever?"

"I promise, Sims. Quit worrying, baby, you're going to be fine!"

"I like Angad."

"What?" Kripa nearly threw her new novel, Dangerous Curves, up at the heavens above. Simran gave a small smirk, this reaction made the problem juicy, yum.

"What, what?"

"You like Angad?"

"Yeah." Simran took her new juke cell, and started texting away.

"What about Raul?"

"What about him?"

"Sims, quit being pathetic. Do you like Raul or Angad?" Kripa turned to face Simran.

"Both."

"You can only have one!"

"Kirps, you're such a douche! I like Angad but I love Raul! I like Angad as a brother." Simran laughed at Kripa's innocent expression.

"OH!"

"It would be nice if he was actually my brother," she slipped in, quietly yet loud enough to be heard, "or brother in law."

"Yeh---" Kripa stopped in midair, as she paused to glare at Simran. Kripa broke down each syllable, "Sh-ut-up!"

"Di, you like him, na?" Kripa smiled, Simran was the most adorable thing in the world, when she added the na's at the end of every sentence.

"Nahi, yaar."

"Toh fir?" (Then, what?)

"He's just a friend, a good friend. Nothing more or less."

"What if he, like really. really likes you? And he confronts you? What will you do?"

"Probably, tell him, I'm not up for it."

"But, come on. They way you two, look at each other, laugh with each other. There must me something else, something more, right?"

"There isn't." Kripa said out loud, whereas she thought, "Or at least I hope not."

"Nice ride, mate!" Angad complimented Raul's sleek black Porsche. The inners were done with whitish off white leather, the car, was hyped up with the latest stereo. It was a smokin' hot babe on wheels.

"Thanks, Bro." Raul grinned. His car was his pride. "It's a big boy's toy."

"Heck yeah, it is." Angad replied as he fiddled with the radio, finally, deciding on 104.9 F.M. The boys, tapped along to Cyclone by Baby Bash.

She moves her body like a cyclone
And she makes me want to do it all night long
Going hard when they turn the spotlights on
Because she moves her body like a cyclone
Just like a cyclone
She moves her body like a cyclone
And she makes me want to do it all night long
Going hard when they turn the spotlights on
Because she moves her body like a cyclone
A mighty cyclone

They grinned and turned the music up louder, at max and ate the roads of New York. Nodding their heads, tapping their feet, and simply by looking fly, the where on their journey to the club. Law firm. They had the girls, turning their heads and dreaming. After all, who wouldn't want, two drop dead sexy men? One with washed and frayed Hollister jeans with a pink Express shirt, Armani valet coat, named Angad. Another, with ripped and frayed jeans from Abercrombie and a yellow with gray stripped Express shirt, named Raul. Tell me, who wouldn't?

I look at that double on the back a that bumper
She aint even playin when shes shakin that rumpa
And for who you dont know
She gett lower than the muffler
Even wit her girl friends
Shes show stoppin wit a hustla
The way she move her body
She might see the masaratti
She wanna put it on me
Tryin to show me her tsunami
She make it hard to copy
Always tight and never sloppy
And got an entourage
And her own papparazzi
Now ther she go again
Ridin through the stormy weather
You better button up if you wantta gonna get
Cause it is what it is
And everybody wanna love her
But when she pop it boy you better run for cover

"Bhai," Raul only called Angad, Bhai, in private one-on-one family moments, "Can I ask you something, with the authority of being your younger brother?"

"Yeah." Angad's attention shifted to Raul. Angad reached over and turned the music down. Raul felt different when Angad turn to him for attention or gave him the floor to speak his mind. It was something, it loved about Angad, he always heard others out, he gave them attention and the feeling of belonging. He was, in Raul's opinion, the best brother and mentor anyone could ever have.

"I think, you should get married. I mean, you're the only family I have, and I just," he struggled for words, "I just want a Bhabi, and I know I am being selfish and all. I know, Maami or Maama should be telling you this, but, Bhai," he paused again, "I don't know."

Angad waited, wondering if Raul wanted to say anything. After a moment or two, he spoke, "I agree. I have thought about it. But I figured maybe, in a year or two, I'll get married. Your right, if Mom, Dad, Dadi, Dada, or even your Mom and Dad were here, I'd be married or at least engaged. I am looking. I still have some promises to fulfill, and one of them is giving the Khanna line it's heir. I promise, Pooja Di, I would. And I'm not going to back off on my word."

Angad sense the atmosphere was serious, "Are you trying to rushing me so you and Simran can have a run for Vegas?"

Raul laughed out loud. "Nahi. Woh toh…. Anyways, idea toh burha nahi hai." He joked. (No, it's just….anyways, the idea isn't bad though.)

"Sucks for dude, you have a lot of obstacles to jump for that movement. First of all, she is still 17 and is a minor, Kripa will beat the live out of you, her dad will personally hunt you down and shoot you, and then her mom will cook you for a meal. Oh yeah, buddy, I'll be hurting you, for messing my kid sister future up." Angad answered.

"Simran's turning 18 in tomorrow. And I have no heck to an idea on what I'm going to get her!"

"Whoa! Slow down, kiddo! What does she like?"

"Girl stuff, I guess."

"Naw, really? I was thing she liked Playboy Magazines." Angad said sarcastically.

"Bro, I'm serious! Help me here! You're the one with the experience. As far as I remember, aren't you the one who dated 48 girls in a day? The highest number of girls in a day any male who has ever attended West Side High has dated!"

"Yo! It's been like 7 years! And nobody's beat that record?" Angad asked amused.

"Don't get to hyped, bud." Raul rolled his eyes, remembering the old days, playing football, basketball, video games, and hanging out with the ultimate jock-iest, hottest, gorgeous, sexy, cool kid in the country. It helped with the status of having Angad Khanna as your cousin brother when you enrolled in high school, especially when the age difference between you and your awesome cousin is 6 years. Hanging out with the top dogs, was a great experience.

"Okay, on the serious note, how about a ring?" offered Angad.

"Yeah, and what do I get her, when I propose her, a dog leash?" Raul asked, with dead humor. This birthday gift choosing for your 'girl' and 'the one' was a pain.

"Nah, I think you should get your self a dog leash or a sturdy rope to hang form the ceiling." Angad laughed, testing the patience of this law student sure was hilarious.

"BHAI!"

"Get her a necklace or a bracelet. Something memorable. And," Angad emphasized, "And, take her out or throw her party."

"I like the idea, of a necklace. Maybe, I can, take her to the mall, while Kripa and you, manage the surprise bash!"

"I can't. I am going to Sydney, Australia for a business deal." He looked to the side, Raul's face fell or at least the corners of his mouth did.

"Maybe, you can purposely ignore her for the rest of the day, but, in the morning have a sari or something, and flowers, sent to her calling a date at 7. Then, take her out, and book the whole hall, have it decorated, and take her for a dinner?" advised Angad.

"Not bad. But, the part of ignoring her for the rest of 10 hours, doesn't match up."

"Suit you self. You have to give and take. It's a compromise, kid."

"I guess, your right. Thanks, Bhai. By the way, on our way back, you mind going to the jewelry showcase with me?"

"Your welcome." Angad paused, "If that's the least I can do, no, I don't mind, Raul."

"When's your flight to Sydney?" Raul asked curiously.

"Tonight, at 11."

The airport was filthy with humans. The announcements were going wild, flights were arriving, departing and being delayed, carts were rolling on their own in search of human, bags where being tossed around, from one hand to another, goodbye make-out sessions were in mode, tears were placing their own yellow slippery signs on the floor. It was simply filthy.

"Bye, Angad." She stood on her tip-toes and placed a kiss on his cheeks and took a whiff of his cologne. God, this man, knew how to turn you on and the other ladies who were wondering if he'd end-up sitting next to one of them. The black Armani Suit, with a gray and black striped shirt, and a clean shave, lord, help her.

"Take Care, Kripa."

"I will." Kripa watched his reaction waiting for, a response, or a kiss back, maybe. Nope, all you he does is smile and walks toward the terminal. He turns around.

'He turned around! Oh my god, is he going to kiss me back?' Kripa's mind raced.

"Thanks."

"What?" she asked dumbfounded.

"For the great day." Angad replied, he was amused, she wasn't expecting verbal thanks.

"No problem." She tried her very best to keep the venom out.

Angad turned back around and headed, once again, towards the terminal. Oh, it sure had been more than great day. The lawsuit against the Khanna Empire by the Ronald's Enterprise had gone down the drain, when his lawyer, Henry, had found some illegal dirt on the opposing party. The hanging out at the beach went well, very well, to be exact, especially when you get to see Ms. Kripa Sharma in a red and brown juicy couture bikini. Or was it Dr. Kripa Khanna?

'WAIT!' his brain stopped the oxygen flow to the conscious and subconscious thoughts, 'Did I just say Dr. Kripa Khanna? That should never ever happen again. NEVER!' he threatened his thoughts and brain, and took a deep breath.

Angad was ready to sleep, in his 8 star hotel sweet room in Sydney. Angad turned back to take a last glance at Kripa who watched over. He sighed softly. She was on heck of a girl, but just not the kind for him. He raised his hand and waved a farewell to her and the good days as he would now, have to focus back on work. Fun time was over, he had enough for a century.

Al of the sudden, in a spasm of the moment, Angad had an urge to hug Kripa. It was as if things were going to change, between them and their new found friendship. He turned back, for the last and finally time and watched her turn her back and walked out of the airport before placing his foot on the plane.

Kripa sighed as soon as the night winds creased her cheek trying to fill the voidances of Angad's lips. She could still feel the smoothness of his check on her lips. She licked her lips. God, he tasted so good, just as exotic and lustful as his cologne smelled. She couldn't help but wonder did she want something more from this friendship? What was that made her want to dash on to the flight and give his a smacking kiss? Kripa just didn't understand. She shoved the involuntary thoughts away and reminded herself of her career as a doctor and the oath that she took when she received her degree. She was ready to head back to London, to work and save lives. She was done with her vacation. The thoughts were set aside, as her LG Phone rang. It was Raul.

"Hey."

"Come home, right now." Kripa stopped fidgeting with the key hole on the side of her Nissan 350z, once she heard the urgency in Raul's voice.

"What's wrong? Is Simran---"

"Just come home!"

"Oh okay, I'm coming." Her heart flipped, her lungs scrunched up, her Adeline was swimming through her veins and arteries, her brain had literally frozen. She had no idea what she was doing, her only goal in life, at that moment, was getting home.

Kripa, yanked her keys out of the car, she slammed the door close, without bothering to lock the door. Dashing, up the stairs, she propped open the doors of her house. She gasped, she stared at Simran's lifeless form drumming every detail into her soul. She sped walked to Simran's side, "Sims, what's wrong, baby?"

Kripa watched her blink, "Sim, Simran,?"

Simran's head turned, as she faced her sister. Kripa felt her inside's knot up and reach up to her throat, she could swear she was going to throw her heart, livers, and kidney, lungs, stomach, pancreas, everything, up. "Kripa,"

"Bhol ho! Kya hua?"

"Mom and Dad."

Kripa had fought to keep her voice steady, "What about Mom and Dad?"

"They're dead."

'They are dead. Mom and Dad, dead.' The phrase was like a mantra chanting in her head. Kripa sank into the floor below.
