Sujal groaned as the baby monitor screamed the cries of Jaspreet
K - Sujal..go
S - you go
K - I just went....you go
Sujal moaned and got out of bed, he put the landing light on and went into the nusery, Jaspeet was awake for the 5th time that night...and it was only 5AM. Sujal picked her up and took her downstairs. He made her a bottle of milk and tried to feed her but she wouldn't have it, he took her upstairs and woke Kashish up
S - Kash....Kashish wake up
K - what is it....
S - she won't have her milk
Kashish sat up and Sujal handed Jaspreet to her, Kashish rocked her
K - give me the bottle
Sujal handed the bottle but Jaspreet still wouldn't take it
S - does her nappy need changing?
K - no I just changed it
S - why is she crying then?
K - how do I know
Suddenly there was a knock on the door
K - who's here at this time?
S - I'll go look
Sujal went downstairs and to his surprise the Police were outside his door
S - can I help you?
P - Sir we have had many complaints about the noise in this house
S - do you have kids?
P - no
S - do the neighbours have kids?
P - not that I know of
S - then get lost, that noise you're talking about is my....is a baby understand, now she won't sleep so it's not my fault
P - sorry sir
S - yes you should be
Sujal shut the door and went upstairs and told Kashish what happened
S - give her here
K - what are you going to do?
S - with my luck....the teletubbies will be on now
Kashish smiled, Sujal took Jaspreet downstairs and put the tv on, although the teletubbies wasn't on but some other programs were on that Jaspreet seemed to like....soon both fell asleep. Kashish woke them up a few hours later when she came downstairs to find them on the couch with the tv still on
K - I was wondering where you were
S - you know...she watches too much tv
K - that's probably why she kept crying....
S - I have an idea to get her away from the tv
K - what?
S - an outing, you me and Jaspreet will go to the park, we'll have a picnic and everything
K - great idea, I'll get the stuff ready
A few hours later Sujal, Kashish and Jaspreet had arrived at the park, obviously she liked it as she had a huge smile on her face, Kashish took her to the baby swings and put her in and pushed her lightly, Jaspreet laughed, Sujal came over and hugged Kashish from behind as she pushed her
K - so have you changed your mind?
S - about?
K - kids
S - not yet......maybe soon.....although I think if Jaspreet wakes me up in the night again I might not
K - Sujal
S - just kidding
K - I think we need some books
S - what books?
K - to help us.....with Jaspreet...or we call aunty ji round
S - no way! mom doesn't even know that we have her.....I'll get some books on my way to work tommorow
K - you're back at work tommorow?
S - yes Kash...I had 2 weeks off remember.......2 weeks have gone now
Kashish looked at Jaspreet giggling in the swing
K - she's going to miss you
S - not with you there....so when are you going back to work?
K - I don't know....I took 2 months off.....although i'm thinking I should just quit
S - Kash you can't quit
K - why not?
S - don't get upset.....but any day Jaspreet's mother or any family member could come and take her away
Kashish frowned and Sujal kissed her
S - I said don't get upset, anyways take her out of there and let her crawl on the grass
K - she can't crawl yet
S - yes she can
K - no she can't
S - yes she can.....I saw her the day you were busy painting
K - really?
Kashish got happy, Sujal smiled but Kashish frowned again
S - what happened now?
K - I missed her first crawl
Sujal laughed, Kashish hit him and picked Jaspreet up, Sujal laid a blanket out on the grass and put Jaspreet on there
K - she's not crawling!!!
S - give her some time Kash
K - but I want to see her crawl
S - Kash....stop being a baby, just wait
K - fine, I'm going to get some ice cream
S - get me some too
Kashish put her hand out, Sujal rolled his eyes and handed her some money, he then sat on the grass and played with Jaspreet who soon began crawling, Sujal called out to Kashish
S - Kashish!!!!! she's crawling!!! Kashish!!!!
Kashish wasn't listening, Sujal looked at Jaspreet then at Kashish....the ice cream parlour wasn't too far away, Sujal shook his head and ran to Kashish
S - Kash hurry up
K - why?
S - she's crawling
K - what!! wait you left her?
S - well yea...to get you
K - you idiot!!!
Kashish and Sujal ran back to where she was but she wasn't there, Kashish hit Sujal and panicked
K - If anything happens to her.....
S - I'm sure she's here....you look that way...I'll look this way
Kashish ran off, Sujal turned around and began looking for her
S (thinks) - come on Sujal, you moron, you should know not to leave a baby alone...find her now before Kashish kills you
Sujal ran all over the place but couldn't find her, he met back up with Kashish who was down to tears
S - Kash calm down
K - you shut up!
Suddenly a voice was heard
?? - hmm parents worried over their lost child?
Sujal turned and faced Kavya who was holding Jaspreet, Kashish ran and picked her up and hugged her
S - Kavya...thanks man.....but how?
Ka - well I was in the park having a picnic with Anju....went to get some ice cream when she pulled my jeans, she obviously recognised me from before, I picked her up and began looking for you
K - thanks a lot Kavya, if something would have happened....
Ka - Sujal would be dead, I know
Kavya and Kashish laughed, Sujal breathed a sigh of relief
K - where's Anju?
Ka - here somewhere....unless she crawled away
Kavya laughed and Sujal punched him lightly
Ka - sorry dude, anyways take care of her Sujal....she's your daughter after all
S - yea.....
Ka - see you Kashish....
Kavya left, Kashish looked at Sujal confusedly
K - why does Kavya think she's ours?
S - when I met him in the shop he assumed....I tried to tell him but he didn't listen
K - you could have said now
S - what the heck.....she might as well be ours seeing the way you almost killed me for losing her
Kashish smiled, Sujal hugged her and kissed Jaspreet's forehead. He wouldn't admit it but he almost died along with Kashish
coming up - Sujal goes back to work
