Sujal just stayed silent, soon they arrived home, Kashish put the pushchair in the store room while Sujal put the food away. Kashish then got the clothes and took them upstairs, she looked at their room, it was a bit messy, she would tidy it up tommorow then begin making some space for Jaspreet
Part 3
Kashish helped Sujal assemble the cot in the living room
K - we need to make space for this in our room
S - she can have the spare room
K - and if she wakes up in the night? She woke up at least 5 times last night
S - we bought the baby monitor things, we'll put one in her room and one in ours, if she wakes up we'll know
K - teek hai
Sujal finished putting in the last screw and Kashish began putting in the blankets and teddy bears she bought, soon it was ready
K - ok lets carry it upstairs
S - we should have assembled it upstairs
K - you're the one who said do it downstairs
Sujal rolled his eyes and picked up one end, Kashish picked up the other end and both headed up the stairs carefully. After much hard work they finally placed it in the spare room
K - ok this is good, we can turn this room into a nursery
S - ok
K - ok so shall we move the stuff out?
S - sure....where is....?
K - Jaspreet? sleeping on our bed
S - ok
Sujal and Kashish began moving things around in the room, there wasn't much furniture in the room because it was rarely used, there was only a cupboard, a desk, a chair and the new cot. When they had moved the chair, desk and cot into the middle they began taking the wallpaper off
S - why do we need to take the wallpaper off?
K - because it's not right, this is going to be the baby's room so we need wallpaper for babies
S - haan lekin.....
K - no lekin Sujal, just hurry up, the quicker we take it off the quicker we can begin painting
Sujal smiled at Kashish's enthusiasm, both carried on taking the wallpaper off when Kashish heard Jaspreet crying
K - Sujal go get her
S - you go
K - SUJAL!!!!
Sujal shook his head and went into their room, Jaspreet was crying, Sujal picked her up and held her against his chest and soon she stopped crying and fell back asleep, Sujal smiled and laid her on the bed, he put the blanket over her and watched her sleep for a while, he never realised Kashish was watching him until she spoke
K - she's beautiful
S - huh.....yea.....
K - Sujal, you're so good with her then why do you keep saying you don't want children
S - Kashish not now please
K - but Sujal
S - please, i'm going out to get the paint ok
K - ok
Sujal kissed her cheek and left. Soon he came back with the pots of pink, blue, yellow and green paints that Kashish had requested along with several brushes of different sizes. He went in the room and saw Kashish was standing on the chair trying to reach some paper near the ceiling
S - Kash.....what are you doing?
K - trying.....to....get....that paper
S - be careful you might....
Sujal didn't finish his sentance as the chair wobbled and Kashish fell out of the chair and into his arms, she had her eyes closed and slowly opened them to find Sujal smiling down at her
K - stop smiling and put me down
S - i said be careful
K - yea yea...put me down
S - ok ok
Sujal put her down
K - now stop staring and help get the rest of the wallpaper down
Sujal did as she asked and soon all the wallpaper was down, he and Kashish put the rubbish in bin bags and laid out newspaper so the carpet wouldn't get ruined
S - so what are you going to do with all this paint?
K - that, my dear boyfriend, is a surprise, you are going to spend the rest of the day with Jaspreet, and all other days until I have finished and you are not....and I mean not going to come in this room understand?
S - but...
K - i said understand?
S - yes Kash, I understand.....sometimes you can be worse than mum
Kashish hit him lightly as he left the room, Sujal went in their room and Jaspreet was awake
S - hmmm no crying this time? good girl
He picked her up and instantly held her away from him
S - oh god...KASH!!!!!
Kashish came running
K - what happened???
S - i think....she needs changing
K - so? change her
S - me?
K - yes you, you're going to have to learn Sujal, the nappies are in the bathroom, make sure you put her on that plastic mat and put the cream on her
Sujal had no time to argue as Kashish went away, he looked at Jaspreet and took her to the bathroom, he laid out the mat and put Jaspreet on it. He gulped and began undoing her buttons, he took her legs out of the baby suit and stared at the nappy
S - kahan phaas gaya
Sujal slowly undid the nappy, grabbed a bag and put it in it, he then got some baby wipes and cleaned Jaspreet and threw the wipes away. He put the cream on and some baby powder and then grabbed a clean nappy
S - Kash! how do i put it on?
Kashish didn't reply so Sujal followed instinct, he lifted her legs and placed the nappy underneath, he bought the front over and secured the nappy. He smiled at his accomplishment and watched as Jaspreet bought her foot up to her face, Sujal laughed
S - neat trick
He put her legs back inside the body suit and did the buttons, he picked her up and put the mat away, he held her as he threw the bag with the worn nappy away then sat in the living room with her on his laps
S - now what?
He put the tv on and began watching some cartoon show that Jaspreet kept laughing at, soon both got bored and he took out some toys and began playing with her. He spent mostly all day with her, playing with her, feeding her, changing her, it was 9pm and both were tired. Sujal lay down on the sofa with Jaspreet on his chest playing with his button. It wasn't soon before Kashish came downstairs, mostly covered in paint, to eat and saw them together, both were now fast asleep, she smiled and put a blanket on them and got something to eat
K - so cute
A few hours later Sujal woke up, he realised Jaspreet wasn't there and jumped up, he checked in the kitchen but it was empty, he ran upstairs to see Jaspreet in the room with Kashish
S - oh....she's with you
K - yea, she woke up and i took her upstairs so she wouldn't wake you
S - oh right...
K - why?
S - nothing it's just i woke up and she wasn't there and i thought....
Sujal lay on the bed and Kashish looked at him
K - hmmm
S - what hmmm?
K - you were worried
S - huh what?
K - about Jaspreet, she was with you but when you woke up she was gone and you got scared
S - huh...no....nah...it was...no
K - deny as much as you want, it's true
S - whatever, hows the painting?
K - it's great, i can't wait until its finished, you'll love it
Sujal nodded his head and closed his eyes
K - Sujal...are you ok?
S - hmmm i'm fine
K - ok
Sujal looked at Kashish holding Jaspreet, a tear fell down his eyes
K - Sujal! what's wrong?
S (wipes tear) - nothing
K - Sujal, please talk to me
S - Kash, you always asking me why I don't want kids
K - hmm
Kashish lay Jaspreet down as she fell asleep, she lay next to Sujal
S - Kashish......you've met mum already.....but you've never seen my dad, that's because he left a few weeks after I was born
K - really?
S - yea.....Kashish, sometimes I get worried that I will turn out like him, mum used to tell me that he was so excited when she was pregnant.....but just weeks after I was born he ran off
K - Sujal.....
S - I'm scared Kash, that I will run away aswell
K - no...you won't
Sujal hugged Kashish, soon they fell asleep. A few days later....Kashish had finished painting the walls in the nursery, Sujal spent most of the time with Jaspreet and began getting attached
K - I've finished!!!! Sujal!!!!
Sujal came upstairs with Jaspreet to find Kashish standing outside the room covered in paint
S - finished?
K - yes, close your eyes
S - ok then
Sujal closed his eyes, Kashish opened the door and took him inside
K - ok open your eyes
Sujal opened his eyes and gasped, the walls were covered in rainbows, butterflies, flowers and teddy bears
S - wow! Kash, its amazing.....you did all this in so few days?
K - yep, I woke up early and slept late to finish it, don't it look beautiful?
S - yea! hey Jaspreet, you like?
Sujal kept looking at the walls with Jaspreet, he hugged Kashish, she held Jaspreet and hugged him back. Sujal sorted the furniture out and they put Jaspreet in the cot, she laughed and played with the teddy bears.
K - I knew you would end up liking her
S - Kashish! don't ruin the moment
K - sorry
Kashish giggled and Sujal hugged her.
