“This” one was his!
“Do you have plans to visit South Africa?” Sid asked eagerly
“I haven’t been to many countries” she lamented
“I haven’t either” he smiled, shrugging
“YOU haven’t?” she was shocked
“Umm. Yeah? Why”
“He has only been to 75 out of the 100”
Raanav butt in
“Umm.. NOT 75” Sid was ashamed
Viveka looked at Raanav curiously
She had no idea her husband was seething in envy
No wonder the attempt to take down Sid
“Well OK may be 72 then?” Raanav nodded
“No way, I am going to say” Sid began to count
“You shouldn’t be so gullible” he warned his wife protectively
“Jhooth kaha keh rahe hain, mujhe lagta hai yeh bhi meri tarah kam ghoome hain”
“Hindi is a beautiful language” Sid nodded
“I agree” (AND THE SPEAKER IS MINE) Raanav’s tone asked Sid to back off
“I told him how I got to help with a paper on Cameroon, she showed Raanav the brochure with a smile
He grabbed it with interest
“I am not done reading the yellow and green ones” Sid informed
“Oh” Raanav did not offer it back to Sid
“DO usey, kya kar rahe ho?” Viveka whispered politely in his ear standing on her tippy toes
“He is just being polite” Raanav nudged her off
“IAM being polite?” Sid heard that
“did you actually like reading about 3rd world African countries?” Raanav challenged him with amusement
“Umm.. I think so”
“Why didn’t you dress up beta?” Satyen asked Viveka cutting off the testy exchange between Raanav and Sid
“Dad umm.. I didn’t get the memo”
He laughed
“She looks great” Raanav asserted his hold
“I heard from my Mom you wear a lot of cotton”
“Mamiji is talking about women’s fashion with you now?” raanav mocked him again
“I love women… ergo..” Sid had a repartee
Raanav was a lawyer, he hated good opposing arguments especially when they were about his wife
“Umm… I have to answer a Q” Viveka smiled softly raising her hand
“Oh yeah, please?” Sid nodded
“I love cotton, and work with a lot of weavers and people close to looms, I began loving it over the years”
“Oh wow… where do u work?”
Well Raanav was a spectator yet again, not liking it one bit
Satyen noticed the tension and asked him about work
“Have you had a Doctor look at her?” he checked with his son
“yeah tomorrow”
“Good good”
“I haven’t seen her insurance quote tho”
“Her Dad called me to say she will pick up the repair bill for Lekha’s, the deductible or whatever”
“satya she was SO shaken up” Smrita walked up to the group
“She doesn’t look like it” Satyen teased earning hima glare from his wife
“MAINE kaha usko, her Mum and Dad are coming over she should dress up, she wasn’t even willing to leave the room” Smrita cooed
“Did you check on Viveka?” Satyen asked grimly
“Arey I haven’t even met her this evening” Smrita went on the defensive lying about asking Viveka to get driving lessons
“Make sure you tell her I will too… Lekha I mean, if she is walking Mo around the driveway he needs to be on a leash, the lawn is fine” Satyen spoke thoughtfully
“Its not MO’s fa”
“I could have easily run over that thing” Satyen didn’t care for his wife’s lame defense of his DIL
“Sid seems to have taken a liking to Viveka” Satyen was smiling joyously
In a family of arrogant snot heads he was glad a Dhamija was real
“Sid is of SUCH good nature” Smrita appreciated her nephew
“Arey he knows about the African conference, he was asking her about it” Satyen explained “I was passing by to refill my drink, ladka smart hai”
“Maybe he should find himself an Economist” Raanav injected silkily implying THIS ONE WAS HIS
