That’s going to show interesting sides to their personalities and family dynamics in their respective families. In the beginning Viveka was never too angry or emotional as she is tested under different circumstances we see her stumble , standup , go back to her base value system like when she says that she will do anything that takes courage.Thank you for penning and sharing your stories . The lead characters always seem life like , a friend or relative that we care about.

In this moment…

“Can we keep this between us?” she whispered agonized

“I agree” he nodded slowly

“I will have to personally tackle the guilt and shame of lying to my parents”

“And I” (to my Dad” he didn’t say so)

“My Mom would be elated if this ends in year or less. There is literally just one person rooting for a short term marriage for me”

A lifetime with Smrita Parashar had prepared raanav for the dishonors of dealing with a difficult woman. He would never admit it openly. Thriving in their presence required a sort of realism. These aren’t individuals who can be reformed or easily pushed from deeply held beliefs. He actively participated and contributed and rejoiced in those beliefs…. Until he had met Viveka Mathur

For all the power that Raanav has carved for himself, there was a powerlessness to his relationship with Smrita

he largely adopted a position of submission. As much as he craved power, when it came to Smrita he coveted her approval

He drank quietly staring out the window

“While I agree to this I am hoping you would have agreed too if it was my Dad that was sick”

She was direct, no BS, tough, smart and very ambitious he thought. She was self righteous and noble. She didn’t run an NGO because it was a fashionable thing to do. She agonized over the ask and actually agreed to a charitable thing to save an old man.

He had never been obliged to do anything in his life. He got handed whatever he had wanted. He had achieved the rest on his own

He had admitted to her that he had a restless urge, while in Law School at Cambridge he had started a record label and signed on a handful of British Indie bands. Almost at one point wanting to quit law school to pursue the new love the decision greeted with no enthusiasm at home. She was his exact opposite.

He was intense and ambitious and greedy. She knew that.

She would never insinuate or expect a reparation, he knew that

Rakshit is gentler, sweeter lacking Raanav’s ruthless streak, who also always believes HE is the more photogenic one and Raanav’s modeling career was just lipstick on a pig

The brothers laughed about it often

Raanav Inherited his Dad’s tendency to keep inhuman working hours, anyone growing up in the shadow of their famous Dad, no matter how prominent, feels a certain pressure… despite being horribly spoiled

Satyen’s illness was thrusting her through the pearly gates of Parashars’ royal home. She did have a choice to walk away from it. But giving the nod now will free her from a lifetime of guilt. She did not like to owe people. She knew walking away from this, she would owe.

In this moment I will forget I will be mistreated by his Mom, I will forget he will might not respect my family as much as I want him to. I will forget my friends and colleagues will not respect him as much as he might want to be.

I will forget he respects and admires me as a person more than I ever will, him. I will forget I shall forever be guarded and cautious person and never be able to tell him how much I love him, though he has expressed it a million times.

If the person I am in love with has to endure this, the least I can do is stand by him. Her moral compass danced in joy.

A text ping alerted him

He stared down at his phone

“Lets go back” he said grimly

“Kya hua?”

“His BP dropped again” he said hoarsely

“Oh my God” she wailed softly

They forgot to pick up the bevis, they just headed back, it took a lifetime to get there. She saw on his face

They rushed upstairs

Smrita gave him a earful about why he left

He asked her where Rakshit was

He was on the way she was told

Raanav had grabbed her hand as they had ran through the corridor

Snrita’s eyes went to it as the team of Docs approached them

Viveka gently extricated her hand, “What are we doing now?” Raanav kept his cool as Smrita held him and began to sob

“I can wait here” Viveka stepped back

She didn’t want to be here, in between his family as they faced the worst crisis

“Is he awake?” he asked the Doc

“Oh yeah” the Doc nodded

Raanav requested permission to go see him with Smrita

He removed the oxygen mask and asked “U are getting married to Viveka right?”

“Why are so worried about that Satyaaaa” Smrita was screeching distressed

“Batao mujhe” he demanded hoarsely

“Oh yeah, absolutely!” Raanav said

The Doc asked them to leave as they let more sedative flow through his IV

Mother and son walked out exhausted and pale

Viveka shrunk back leaning on the glass, her stomach alternating between clenching and nausea

Her curled her toes and clenched her fingers with her arms crossed across her waist to keep them from trembling

“Don’t let it be bad news, please don’t please don’t”

He went back to where his Uncle and Aunt were, as he talked his Aunt gave him a “look”

He walked over to her

“Hes fine right?” she asked, rolling her hand into a fist and putting it on her mouth

“Raanav?”

He walked up “They sedated him” he said

She whimpered and tried not to cry

“He will be fine” she said with a confidence she really did not feel

He sat down in the recliner by her and ran his fingers thru his hair

“is he awake?”

“He was … awake” “he sounded fine” Raanav was angry about why he couldn’t get magically better

“Time do Raanav”

“I guess” he rubbed his eyes

He would never beg or grovel she knew that

“Do you want me to stay?”

“Do you have a ride home?”

“Umm.. yeah she said evasively

“With who?”

“Umm… Naina is working on a home around the corner

Naina had actually lost her job after the last stunt, so she was home applying to new jobs

“She wont be done until later right?” he checked his non smart watch

“Oh no she is getting off early after a client meeting” she nodded

“Thanks Viveka”

“I will see you… soon”

“I told him we are getting married. I am hoping it will help him bounce back” he texted as she crossed the street to meet Naina at the fake location

He was direct and decisive, at least that had not changed. She had agreed in the a=coffee shop he had not wasted any time in relaying it to his Dad

As she shut her eyes in the Metro she imagined what she would tell friends and family

“His Dad being involved in the car wreck made Raanav and I realize what we had between us. Life events have a strange way of reminding you of whats important. He needs me and I need him”

“No not the last line its too cheesy”

“Just say “we still had feelings for each other”

“that we ALWAYS had na?”

She fought with her mind as she crafted a perfect reasoning

Papa had always told her “You have to be true to who you are beta, otherwise people will see straight through you”

Papa will see through my lies!

Nisha, shadi kaisse aur kaab hogi?

Really curious under given circumstances how will they get married.

“My Mom would be elated if this ends in year or less. There is literally just one person rooting for a short term marriage for me”

Good to know he is aware of this and also that she has hold on him.

Realization is first step towards change.

Fabulous Nisha. They are not delusioned. Getting into it with eyes wide open .

Both have feelings for each other but that's not the reason for them they are considering the marriage.

Any parent would be lucky to have such a child. Satyen should consider himself really lucky that he has son like Ranaav and most importantly he fell in love with Viveka. She is exceptional.

So much comprehension of the situation and what the decision would ask of her. Viveka is the opposite of the times when Naina was so impulsive.Till Viveka let’s go of her restraint and tells Ranaav of her feelings , he is going to assume it was charity. A year or a lifetime may be Viveka will realize it is ok to be direct in saying ,” I love you “ too.

Ranaav the youngest ,ladlaa looking to his ma for approval is typical of most mother son relationships . It is when the mother develops a bias, overlooking any general notions of right or wrong that, the son gets caught in the middle of wife and mother as a restless soul.

Never thought that my wish for R&V to jump the queue and get married would be brought about like this !!

It is unclear whether Satyen being so obstinate on their marriage is to see Raanav married to whom he loves ...in case something were to happen to him....and keep Smrita from keeping the young ones apart ?!

Or is it because he sees the perfect foil for Raanav in Viveka and wants her to become a Parasher, circumstances aside...and emotional blackmail is being thrown in for good measure ?!

As thorny as their path ahead would be, it would be interesting to see R&V stay close, fight their battles together albeit with different opinions and strengthen their relationship

Raanav did not answer when V asked him if he would comply if the scenario had flipped.....but it does not matter right now as the die is cast and it’s a matter of time before they are married

A shotgun wedding at a sick man’s bedside...Anu and Akash’s misgivings, Naina’s further tantrums, Smrita’s anger and Dadi at her vitriolic worst....what a future fir these two 😳

We desperately need Satyen to get better as right now almost all the characters are showing grey shades...we need colour livening up the young couple’s lives and our mornings

Thanks as always for the regular morning fixes Nisha !!

Hello Nisha, one of my friend suggested this story and I am so glad she did. Loving this twist of pride and prejudice.

All the characters of this tale are so real. I really loved Anubha and Akash. Super supportive parents and cool couple they are. Viveka, with her right attitude towards life and so grounded. Raanav, a good person, just needs to learn to not judge a person based on their financial background. And all others with their faults and merits.

Coming to the update, I was surprised Viveka said yes to fake marriage or the one which has an expiry date. But as you said, it's not in her nature to owe somebody. She cannot live with guilt. Let's see how this decision is going to turn out. How are they going to tell the families. ?

Instead of viveka saying I'm hoping you would have done the same if it was my dad who was in that icu bed, what I would have liked for is also to have inserted a condition that they would not live under smrita and Satyen's roof.

Hear me out please. I feel this way because I'm thinking , Why place that expectation on Raanav when it's kind of apparent that he wouldn't have acceded to that request hypothetically if it were to come from Akash instead . The only time he has shown any visible emotion of being affected is post what's happened to his Dad. To this date, he has been that cool , guarded lawyer, everything under his control, watching his words and way. In my opinion , if she were to reflect back, and when you are agreeing to getting married under these circumstances, it's better to have no expectations from anyone of any sorts, including Raanav. She did not get an answer to that question because again as usual he chose to be guarded with his response by actually staying mum and letting that awkward moment pass.

One little part I did not get Nisha. While he said "and I meaning he's also lying to his dad, did Raanav actually say to viveka that his mother was rooting for a short term marriage if there was one or was that his unvoiced thoughts at that moment and it was just an extension of his thoughts ??

While she doesn't like to owe anyone anything, there's no point suffocating yourself additionally while staying fake married in that house and be the sacrificial lamb for slaughter. There's no nicer way to say this. She should been that bit** who should have made Raanav take responsibility for letting his dad know that they would have to move out to some place close by to the parashar residence after their wedding . Cmon girl, hold that parashar kid to some account !! He doesn't get to walk away with this big a gift from you over a star bucks coffee for Christ sakes that too with a coffee chai order that couldn't be completed !!! Ha Ha!!

Whatever satyen's noble motives are, I'm sure he's not impractical to see how complicated the couple's life would be at the parashar residence. Frankly, an unwell satyen has for the first time in all the time we have known him, has chosen to be this annoying with his persistent demand. I'm sorry to say this but With all the sedation and stuff he's unwittingly coming across the most emotionally manipulative and the most emotionally unstable he has ever been!
