The technology in the Officers' Research Room in Headquarters was quite adequate. It didn't take long for Naina to find information on CRPP. Actually, there were loads. Not knowing where to start, she started looking at case files, and the final report on it. To her surprise, the final report was done by Major Bhargav, so she could conclude that it was trustworthy. Without further ado, she started reading, not knowing what was written could very well change her life.
'The Cyanide Research of Poison Project was first proposed in December 2004, by Lieutenant Colonel Kunal Parashar of the Medical Investigation department. The project was headed by Colonels Nair and Bhattacharya, and had an extremely adept staff comprising of Major S. K. Bhargav, Captains Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, Alekh Sharma and Ali Baig. Though the idea was proposed by Lieut. Col. Parashar, he didn't take any active part in the case due to his undercover projects. His part was taken over by Army Psychologist Dr. Ritu Mishra – Shekhawat.
She froze, she would've sworn that she almost got a coronary. These names were tremendously familiar to her, and all her friends working on the same project made her feel betrayed and apprehensive at the same time. She didn't fail to notice that Ali still had the rank of a Captain, so she presumed that something during the case had changed it. and Kunal Parashar? Who was he? She had never even heard of him.
Due to unexpected circumstances, the CRPP was aborted in November 2005, following the death of Rohit Singh Shekhawat.
Today seemed to be the day of shocks for her. Rohit Singh Shekhawat? The surname was eerily familiar, but as far as she knew Capt Rajveer did not have a son. She kept on reading.
Rohit Singh Shekhawat, the four year old son of Capt. Shekhawat who was himself supervising this project, consumed some of the very harmful and explosive cyanide which caused his imminent death. The analysis of post mortem from the forensic department ensured that this was, in fact, the cause of his death. The last person to work with the cyanide before it was stored in a high security vault was Capt. Shekhawat, who was also rumored to change the password without informing the others. Dr. Ritu Mishra – Shekhawat brought charges of murder of her son, against her husband. The case continued for 2 months, after which Colonel Nair had it closed due to lack of evidence on either side. Dr. Ritu Mishra – Shekhawat has disappeared after the incident
.
She froze again, glad that she had normal blood pressure to keep herself from fainting. So that was Rajveer's secret. And she didn't blame him for hitting her. He had gone through a lot, but she never imagined it could be this tragic. Her maternal instincts kicked in, until all she wanted to do was comfort him. But a post script near the end caught her attention.
Furthermore, it was interesting to notice that most of the recent developments related to CRPP had taken place in the Northern Division offices of the Army. CRPP also had taken the lives of the last two Northern Division In- charges.
Before she fully understood that fact that CRPP has been opened and her life was in danger, an angry and disappointed voice snapped her out of her reverie.
'Major Singh!'
She jumped, literally, and the laptop almost crashed down and fell down, but he caught it.
'Cap –Captain ! How d- did you g- g- get here?' She cursed herself for stuttering, yet she wanted to divert his attention so that he didn't see what precisely the laptop carried.
But too Late, he had seen it. She could see his eyes contort with anger and nervousness, but when he gazed up at her, his expression was carefully unreadable.
'Why, I just arrived fifteen minutes ago, Madam. It was of utmost importance that I come to Delhi.'
She whimpered, trying to move back, but he advanced forward, his eyes suspiciously bright with unshed tears.
'I told you to help me, Madam, and I had hoped that one day I would trust you enough to tell what happened.' He hissed as she flinched with every word of his, 'But you seem to know everything from before. And need I remind you Madam, that you don't go looking at other peoples' case files without their permission? You don't snoop around behind the backs of other people, Madam, and you should nev-'
He was cut off by her lips meeting his in a fierce kiss. Completely thrown off course, he froze and felt her warm lips in his mouth. As she made to pull away, she could hear him responding, as he pulled her towards him. The air was filled with raw lust and passion, as their tongues furiously wrestled against each other. She tasted like spice, which made her even more seductive at the moment. And then she pulled away and smiled up at him ,' I had to shut you up somehow,' she said.
He grabbed her hand and yanked her back to him, until their lips were just touching, and looked down at her, 'We can't do this,' he whispered.
'I know.' she smiled and whispered back.
'I still love Ritu.' He whispered again
'I know.' she smiled and whispered back again.
And then she made to leave.. and as she was near the door, he called. 'I liked the kiss.' She didn't turn back, but stopped and replied, 'I know.'
Even though he couldn't see her, he could've sworn she was smiling.
