Wow what a twist in the end 👏Never expected Moora to hide n listen to the convo of Chanakya n Nandini 😲So he was just testing her n she bravely answered all 👍🏼Now Moora is convinced about Nandini 😳But what Chanakya saw?Does he know Nandini's mom?What relation they had?

Yesss so the much awaited first meeting flashback had finally come upon us. I was honoured that you were inspired by my early questions about the story to write this flashback sequence. Honestly this chapter was beautiful.
Even as a child it seemed like Chandra truly saw Nandni for who she is, and they have a soul to soul connection. So wonderful that he would be the one to see that she has her first taste of tamarind, risking punishment to do so. Also that he would challenge her behaviour too, and called for her to stand up for others.

You were the one who pointed out that Chandra's POV was silent in the camp scenes, where Nandini was talking about their Moonlit night meet and Swayamvar meet. That helped me refine the Post-Swayamvar scenes with Chandra's POV included.
You were the one who asked whether it was just love at first sight between CN or there is more to it than meets the eye. I already had a rough plot for Nand's background. But your question on Chandu-Nandu background made me refine my background plot and their romance.

People dont forget their bachpan ka saathi easily.. So as an author, I wrote this chapter from pure friendship POV. But as a reader, if you are able to see a soul connection between them, then i have to pat my back 😊

The natural traits of a person will come to fore, when you think you are alone; when you dont know tht someone is watching you.. Those days, this was very common way to guage the secrets, hidden potentials and trust worthiness of a person.
Chanakya asked this question as Chandra's minister, well-wisher of his family, but more so for Magadh's welfare and for Nandini herself.

But what Chanakya saw?Does he know Nandini's mom?What relation they had?

Yes, Chanakya knows Nandini's Mom. More on this in the coming chapters. Right now, lot of Chandu Nandu past coming up along with their romantic interludes. Read the other chapters too.

@BOLD - So True! Its high time that people know about their past.

Yeah... There's a saying in Tamil which translates as "Even Elephants can slip steps". Even learned man like Chanakya made mistakes and then corrected it. 😊

Chapter 18

Uff I love to hear this one more day thought from them both

I think Chandra is a mixture of Ron and Harry at times

He has a slight disregard for the rules , is brave and can do anything for the people he loves

I loved the way Dev can talk to animals and birds

it proves what a golden hearted person he is

Of course he would be popular with the women

I know the temptation of the forbidden is too much

His wish to see the princess staying hidden reminds me of Aladdin

He too had done the same thing in the story

Cruel Nand and his obsession with Nandini always goes on

and he wanted to force it on the people too - pathetic

Of course all this was new and strange to Dev and he was confused

so he was curious to see the princess after all this

I think this is the first time he is seeing the major discrimination between royals and the commoners

Wow the way he quenched his thirst it was brilliant

he made up an innovative way to make him drink water

I find him so similar to Amarendra Baahubali too

so compassionate so kind so smart so sharp so just

Hiding on a tree among the leaves is another brilliant idea

no one will spot him at all and he can see everything

Of course Nandini is totally opposite to Nand

she is everything what he is not and vice versa

It is clear how much Nandini loves to be in the open air

by heart she loves nature and so feels at ease in this surrounding

So Malay was so arrogant and vain right from his childhood

Of course Dev hated Malay right from his first statement

Dev understood how vile Malay was and he was right

Fruits are God's gift to humans and one should never disrespect it

Felt so bad for the boy who had come to her with the tamarind

he only wanted her to have some and that brute Malay abused him

Such a behaviour can be expected from Nand easily

This was a small example how Nand treated the commoners

Crying was a way Nandini protested but Nand did not understand it

he just settled the matted his way and took away Nandini

She was so young that she could not even do anything to help the boy

Wow so Dev has an aim just like Arjun from Mahabharat

this scene reminded me of the scene where Arjun had to aim at the fish eye in Draupadi swayamvar

with this small action he made her so happy

Of course she did not know how to eat it

poor girl had to hide it from that brute Nand

Wow so she met her future husband today and he gifted her a tamarind on their 1st meet

that was so sweet na ?

Acharya thought it is actually Malay

But I presume Malay had already met her before this day

but Acharya did not know of it so he thought it wrong

He was interested in Dev too but could not follow him then

I am amazed that he thought of all that he had learned

and then went to meet her and make her happy

This is the first time he is doing something alone and that too so risky

love had already bloomed at such a young age and it is showing signs

I understand why he found the room familiar - it was his room after all

she was using the room now so everything was different

at such a young age he understood how different Nand and Nandini were

This is their first interaction and it is so sweet

but this is like out of old classic love stories - secret meetings on a night

she loves sitting on the floor again something that means she is so down to earth

it is so clear she does not like the throne and the royal treatment

He gave her such a simple effective and deep solution

live life your way - he showed her the way at such a young age

In fact this is the first lesson he gave her that can help her later

he taught her to test and do everything and know if it is good or not

he showed her a new way to think that can mould her later

haha I loved how he warned her not to scream

I am sure even if he had not told her she would not have screamed

she would have never let him fall to any danger

Oh wow so from this time she noticed his eyes

I wonder if she will recognize the eyes when he grows up

how happy he must have felt seeing her enjoy it

I think from this time only their hearts started to unite

her simple innocence and her way of enjoying it is just so special

hmm so he likes to show off his courage right from this time

She is really like an angel trapped in a brute's kingdom

it is so clear she feels suffocated caged up in the castle

she wants to go out and play like the others

and Nand made sure she does not have any friends too

how readily he agreed to come and play with her

he had such a gentle heart from such a young age

I just love this - both having a secret path to meet each other

they are just children but it seems more like a secret love affair

her cute antics really amused him a lot

so he gave her a small bribe - tamarinds - to meet him

he was also equally curious to meet her again

now this was the first safety precaution he took for her

removing the skin of the tamarinds - this is also so special

I am sure he was more worried for her safety

Chandra made her do what he had wished to

but then she also wanted to do those things willingly

but yes he made her smile and removed her loneliness

it was so clear he was very impressed by her

he is slowly teaching her so many things so simply

and yes we should try everything in life

then only we gather experience and know what is right

he is also slowly making her learn to protest against wrongs

here he is acting just like a proper king unknwoingly

again this is a major hint that he is a born ruler

She was sad at that painful memory and did not like it

he is inspiring her to use her powers for good causes

but she knows Nand and I thinks she fears his temper

but Dev taught her to do the right thing in any circumstance

all he is teaching her will be useful for her later

I think this is how she slowly went against Nand and Avantika

her subconscious mind remembered all his teachings

Of course all this was a heavy dose for her so he changed the topic

He impressed her by showing his friendship with the owl

I am sure she too wanted to have a life like him then

just 2 meetings and she is so impressed with him

all that he tells is so simple yet so deep and meaningful

She wont ever let her Veer now that is for sure

wait how did he get Nandini's chart ?

he had never gone to the palace till now right ?

Strange Nand wants confirmation about his future

and he will also punish the one who speaks the truth

then he wants to hear only lies about the future

Good Chanakya was smart and he thought of an alternative

This chart reminded me of both Ramayan and Mahabharat

Ravan also had a curse on him and it was said his cause of death will be a woman

In Mahabharat there was a prophecy that Devaki's 8th son will kill Kansa

and Draupadi was born from fire to ruin the Kauravas

who were the 2 Brahmin women who cursed him ?

I want to know. were both of them wives of priests ?

Cause of his death will be a woman - Nandini ?

Nand killed the Raj Jyotish but why ?

He did not blurt any secret in front of Chanakya ?

Just as he has questioned Nand decision ?

Nand can twist any words to his benefit isn't it ?

Chanakya advised him well yet he twisted his words

Chanakya applied his wits and controlled the situation to an extent

He should also have thought of some way to escape the soldiers

So this is when Dev saved him and Chanakya was impressed

It was good that there were only 2 soldiers at that time

else it would have been a bit difficult to manage more

Seems luck was on Chanakya side on that day

King of the jungle - so he indeed considers himself a king

right at that age - quite impressive I must say

Wow they monkey and eagle really helped him ? amazing

Subconsciously he has already absorbed all his dance master's words

but he does not know it himself

wow he remembers only his mistakes and not his good deeds

another strong sign of a peoples king

Hmm he is yet to make his own identity that is true

What he said about contentment is so right

one should always have an ambition or a goal in life

he follows what he said to Nandini - live by your own rules

he is so matured at this age itself

he wants to explore his potentials and abilities for himself

I think Acharya already saw a potential in Dev then

as some one who could defeat Nand and punish him

Correct me if I am wrong in this assumption

So he wanted to mentor him by himself and teach him everything

Hmm both are very independent minded and determined

One is determined not to leave the jungle one is determined to teach him

Dev wants to take his decisions for himself - he is a born leader

he does not want to follow some one - he makes his own path

he took a day to think and decide for himself

You can take a king out of the kingdom but you can't take away the aura of a king

Chanakya saw that he has all the potentials to be a peoples king

Even though he did not know his identity then yet he saw Dev as a future king

His sharp eyes recognised the hidden talents in Dev

This part again resembles Krishna from Mahabharat

Krishna was actually a royal but grew up in a gwala's house

but still he was a sort of a leader of his group - Dev was similar

Dance Master saw this as a golden chance for Dev so agreed

If Chanakya mentored Dev then he could learn everything he was supposed to

I wonder if apart from Nandini any one else would also be the cause for Nand death

Is there any chance of Avantika also being a cause ?

Ok so both of them taught each other that they knew well

teaching and learning is also such a great way of bonding

It is just natural that she felt so at ease with him

they are both so alike in this aspect

Both of them understood each other so well

Good that the guards never knew about them

He understood that he had formed a wrong opinion on her

Being with her showed him how different from Nand she truly is

So he wanted to ask her views about him going away

means he was making her a part of his life and his decisions

her views mattered to him and he did not want to leave her

what a deep bond they had formed already they did not know

Wow she is also so matured in her reply

she did not want to be an obstacle in the way of his progress

she took such a decision at that age this is so telling

this means she wont ever stand in his way to success

Aww he copied his actions from before how cute is that

Of course their friendship will always remain intact

she has only one friend now and she is about to lose him too

wow what he answered her in reply to what if they meet as enemies

they were doing exactly that on the war field

hahaha soak him up in a jam of tamarind ? that is a great idea really

wow so he made a special place for her in that tree

Chanakya was right he had a chance to meet Nandini now

His heart was right but he ignored his heard and heard his mind

Dev is a royal prince and has the potential to be a peoples king

I can understand he dance master's dilemma

he could not trust a stranger so easily and give him such important info

So Nand had got to know that Chanakya was not killed so he sent this army to kill him now

I feel so bad for the gypsy men that they died such a cruel death

reminds me of Surya and his men's death in the jungle

Dance master asked Chanakya his last wish which was his dream

Chanakya granted him and Dev too promised he will fulfill Dance master's wish

Poor Dev he lost the only person who was with him till now after Moora

This was his first experience of losing a loved one in front of his eyes

Nand really unknowingly made his strongest enemy here

Now Dev and Chanakya both have the same aim

they both have promised the same thing to the Dance Master

He is right overthrowing does not necessarily mean death

Nandini also wont ever knowingly be the cause of Nand death

He did a major miscalculation and blunder here

he decided to train both Dev and Malay equally in knowledge and skills

He should have thought of the chance of Nandini marrying Dev too

Malay is elder to Dev still lost at his hands miserably

this again proves age has nothing to do with efficiency and skills

Mostly all of Dev's initial opinions were right except on Nandini

finally Chanakya realized his mistakes with time

Err what tricks and tactics of Chanakya Malay got ?

Please give a few examples if possible

Good that he knew that Malay is impotent so Nandini wont have a future with him

Of course Malay himself can't do anything so he gave all women to Papa darling

Chanakya should not have shared his plans for Nandini with Parvatak

but again he did not know what Parvatak was in reality

But good that he had heard Malay boasting of the plans

he knew what a danger Nandini could be in and so could make alternative plans

The swayamvar rumor was a good solution now
