It wasn't too long into the night Chandan threw a crying fit and luckily this time Avantika was down the hallway

He almost stopped breathing in his crying fit. Lakshmi ran across the hallway and banged on Harit's suite

"Betaaa... Avantika jagin hain? she screamed

Harit was on his chaise lounge, trying to dig himself out of a mound of papers. Avantika was on her bed on the phone facetiming her mother

She was changed into her lounge pants and tee, she noticed he had played some instrumental music on his office speakers

He opened the door and grabbed the kid

Chandan whimpered and collapsed on Harit's arms... Harit kissed him holding him tight

"Kidhar hain beta? Lakshmi was curious

"Andar he said politely

And then Lakshmi watched Avantika step out, her face paled when she saw it was Lakshmi, she didn't have a dupatta

She felt her bare head and looked at Harit before he could stop her she went in and grabbed one from the open suitcase

Chandan ran into her arms

"Hum to yahin hain she mumbled soothing him with her caressing

He began to snooze in her arms

"Bilqul yahi kiye hai inhoney pichhle mahiney se Lakshmi sighed

"Hum inko sula lein? Teeku offered

Lakshmi was horrified

It was bad enough the new DIL was in the newly cleaned out bedroom, what could be worse was, the lil grandkid in bed with her, that would mean her son could never be on that bed at night

Harit sensed his mother's despair but just squeezed her shoulder

"Ma... aap so jaayen, hum hain aur ab Avantika hai he promised

"Lekin unke kamre mein kaise soyenge? Lakshmi refused o budge

"Ma sab thak rahe hain, sonen dein please he begged

She left staring at the shut door with longing

Harit walked into Avantika's room she was bent over the lil boy

"Yeh bhi rakhen side mein? Girna nahi! she smiled caringly, burying her lips into his soft cheeks

When she lifted her head, he stood right there looking at her

She placed a hand across her tee's opening

"Yeh to so gaye she told him

"Thanks he nodded and turned and walked away.

He went to bed shortly after, she was asleep aleady, even in the morning.

The next morning, he would be gone when she woke up. She would spend the morning putting her clothes away, trying to find the spare boxes of plum red glass bangles that were custom crafted to match her wedding outfit exactly

Unable to find it, she would step out to see what the people of the house were doing, to be greeted by Lakshmi to a large hall, the size of a college dining room with a giant table that could seat 24 in the center.

The house was a strange combination of old and new, they had a Wolf range and Wolf refrigerator, but many of the pots and pans were brass or bronze. Lots of cooking utensils were marked "pooja ki samagri

Lakshmi wore her saree with seedha pallu in the mornings. She chanted and sang and spent hours praying

Teeku was told that DILs usually shower and step out of their rooms

Alka and Suman were in a hurry to head out to work

Sita Ram was finishing up breakfast

He smiled warmly when he saw a tentative Teeku walk in wearing a peach Sambalpuri Ikat silk with a magenta chudidar and a intricately woven silk dupatta

"Aapko tang kiya Chandan ne raat ko?

Chandan was hiding behind her legs... he peeked

Hair neatly combed and gelled, he looked like a happy well adjusted kid. Showered and changed into jeans and a tee

"Hum unko lekar so gaye she said gruffly

"Harit abhi nikle Sita Ram told her

She nodded agreeably

It nagged Sita Ram as usual, there was no eagerness or urgency to see her husband. There were no visible changes in her appearance, she was not glowing, she was not nervous, she was not self conscious.

She looked like a visiting family member... a family member thatw as still single

Lakshmi brought her chai

The help heaped parantha on their plates

She tore up Chandu's Lakshmi watched how caringly she did that

She tasted all the chutneys and served the least spicy to the kid, she blew on the first piece and fed him, her finger tips swelling red.

Alka and Suman were doing it too, but something about the way Teeku was handling Chandan was making Sita Ram tear up.

"Harit ke saath ghoomne ka plan banaya? Unko Nepal pasand hai he said

"Oh? Teeku looked up curiously

Still no coyness.

Lakshmi sighed and leaned back

"Mooh dikhayi shaam ki hai. Saree pehane aap she smiled consoling herself

"Hum seekh nahi paaye theek se, Bhabhi help karengi? she admitted

"Kyon nahi beta, yaha hafte mein 4 roz koi pooja rehti hai, aap turant seekh jaayengi Sita Ram spoke confidently, they staunchly kept the faith

She spent the day with Chandan like she was on vacation, spoke to her parents, Bhabhi, Devu and her other work friends

Devu was curious about kissing and sex

She told her nothing had happened and that the guy was too busy to notice her and that his room looked like... She described everything in detail, Devu wanted pictures

"Kaam hi karte rehte honge, sirf black pant white shirt pehankar kaam she concluded unflappably.

Himani spent her 22 minutes coaching her to step in and take on work

Meeta spent her 17 minutes teasing her about wooing serenading Harit

Shyam spent his 14 minutes telling her how her husband is of stellar character and how not one iota of negative info came out of all the investigation the Guptas undertook

Avantika was dispassionate at the end of it all.

Dispassionate still... ofcourse!

BTW Nisha, keep up the good work of staying away from sugar, if that helps you! I quit adding sugar to my coffee and tea for about a year now. And it seemed to have helped bringing down my A1C level.

Well she seems to be so disinterested in the guy and marriage that it started to bothers me.. at any point the guy also needs attention..I mean he must have thought something or expected from the marriage. I don't know she will surely get a big blow and soon

Its not like he is making any moves either Sonal. He woke up and went off to work. She is still new, he didnt hang around or flirt or talk or attempt to touch her

A dear friend of mine often quotes this from the Bible . I kinda like this quote . Faith and Facts and the vaidya made me pronto connect to this. Lovely title that captured the mood of the update in a nutshell.

Chalo Harit was tuned to his mothers predicament and gave her a reassuring squeeze. Whether he came to her room to check on chandan or her or to occupy the room is anyone's guess. A penny for his thought???

She as well doesn't think twice about placing a support for chandan on the bed so that he doesn't fall. She thinks her husband wouldn't be interested . And he ?... well...

This guy if he talks a lot must be talking in the court room. At home , it's evidence of things not seen
😆 . Or he's a changed guy now who can show that side of his only to people he's close to.

I love the care, affection, and love Teeku has for Chandan! It is beautiful! Lets hope Harit thaws a little bit.

Hope the sugar withdrawals pass--I quit taking sugar in my coffee a few years ago-it was very hard initially but nowadays I don't miss it. The sugar otherwise-I am not at all good at.

I was working today, because of this, I felt I deserved a candy bar...😭
