So excited by these last few chapters...will they hear something when they go to suman's house? As always can't wait for more!!!

Chapter 212- The Subtle Hostility

As Maheswari entered Suman's house she felt something was amiss in the atmosphere. Though Virender and Bhavani had welcomed them, she somehow felt a hostility in the atmosphere. There were some other people also who had come. Mostly the Rajput's relations who came hearing the news. Some had gone to hospital and then came home. But Maheswari said she will visit the family first and then go to hospital.

Suman took Maheswari to her dadi, while Devika mingled with other family members. Maheswari folded her hands in Namasthe which Kamala Devi reciprocated and then Maheswari sat beside her. Suman stood. As Maheswari asked what had happened Kamala Devi explained the incident but Maheswari could see Suman's dadi was giving a subtle angry look to Suman.

Sreedhar moved with Amrit and asked him the details of what happened. Amrit told Jatin was a bit pampered among them and he couldn't take the rejection. He had some bad company, though the family told him multiple times to leave his friends he didn't listen. They instigated him to throw the acid on the girl. Now none of his friends are there and he alone is suffering.

Sreedhar asked about the girl, whether the family knew her. Amrit told she was like Suman. Bright and was planning to go to Delhi after her plus two. But then Jatin nipped in bud all her dreams as she succumbed to her injuries. Her family became quite angry after the death. Her brothers came to jail and beat Jatin black and blue. By the time police could control them Jatin was in bad condition. Now he had concussion. His arms and leg are broken. Also there is serious injury to spinal cord.

Sreedhar felt Amrit was not telling the complete truth. He felt he will know the complete truth from Suman only as her mother might tell her.

As Bhavani talked with Maheswari, Suman and Devika moved to Sayyali's chamber.

" Bhabi what had happened. How did Radhika's parents do this to Jatin. Our family should have shut them up" asked Suman.

Sayyali smiled " Suman between the honor of the family and life of their son, this family choose their honor " then she went on tell how Radhika's father bargained Jatin's blood against keeping quiet about her affair in college.

" Ok Bhabi so that's why dadi is glaring at me and in general there is a hostile feeling. So our family gave their son to save themselves. They kill daughters in mother's womb. Now society come thirsting for the blood of the sons in the family" told Suman.

" Suman, Devika Didi come let us go. If Maheswariji doesn't see you she might come searching for us and you do know that right we don't talk such things to anyone outside" told Sayyali

" Yes Bhabi I very well know" told Suman as she and Devika walked back towards where Bhavani and Maheswari were standing.

Soon Maheswari requested that they would like to go to hospital to which Bhavani agreed. In hospital Maheswari met Jatin's parents Virat and Bhadra. Jatin was still in ICU and people could see him only from outside.

She asked Bhadra what doctor was telling

" Bhabiji doctor had told Jatin will survive, but no longer he can walk. His body waist down is paralyzed. Also he might lose one eye sight. But the doctor tells maybe that can be restored in future with eye transplant. " told Virat.

Suman, Devika and Sreedhar looked grim. Death seemed an easy solution, because what awaited Jatin now was a life in which he wished everyday he was dead. Suman remembered Jatin. He was younger to her by couple of years. Still he ordered his sisters and nieces. He beat his nieces very badly if they didn't obey him. Now he was at the mercy of others.

They bid goodbye to the family and on their way back Maheswari thought about the subtle hostility she experienced both at home and at hospital. Suman thought about Jatin's punishment, Devika thought about Ramya's cries when Jatin had burned her hand when she refused to give him chocolate and Sreedhar he was not sure whether to feel happy or sad at Jatin's fate.
