Chapter 1
"Aaj main, Brigadier Chandok, badey garv ke saath ye announce karta hun ki Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, Kanchanjunga Military Academy firse join kar rahe hain. Unke ranks, unka samman, sub unhe wapas diya jata hai!"
announces Brigadier Chandok in front of the whole academy. Captain Rajveer, who is standing at ease with Brigadier Chandok looks at the group of his five favourite cadets who are beaming with joy. A smile creeps on his lips as he proudly looks at his five cadets!
He avoids looking at the sixth one directly, but that doesn't mean that he is completely oblivious to her reactions. He tries to calm down his burning desire inside him, to set his eyes on her.
No, he is not oblivious to her reaction; in fact he is fully aware of even a minute action of hers. Like the way she is fidgeting at her place right now, very slowly, escapable of others eyes but of his! How much he tells himself that it is wrong; what he is doing; what this is leading towards; but the desire remains intact!
The desire to look at her; the desire of talking to her; the desire to be with her; the desire to... Oh! Oh Captain,control!
Standing at his place, he wonders, what could be the possible reason that she is looking disturbed? Is something bothering her? What could it be? Does she want to leave this place? May be getting late to reach somewhere? Is she in danger? Now that thought knits his brows tighter. He can stand anything but her getting into a danger! What is the reason that she is looking different today? Not his usual Naina! Little does he know that he is the culprit behind this state of his favourite cadet! The reason why Naina is in this way is Rajveer! Oblivious to all this, the desire of knowing whats disturbing her remains intact in his heart.
Soon the speech of Brigadier Chandok ends. He asks Captain Rajveer to speak some words and hands him over the mic.
"Respected Sir, teachers and my dear students!",
his mere addressing them, gets rewarded by a huge round of applause. The gesture of his dear students makes him to blush and gets him emotional, both at the same time. He was indeed receiving the desired gesture from everyone. But even among all these things, he doesn't fail to notice that Naina is standing still. She isn't reacting the way others are! And what good it is to him if the person who matters him the most isn't happy seeing him there? The desire to look at her, smiling, remains unfulfilled!
Suddenly, cool breeze enters the main hall of KMA where they all are standing. Rajveer notices how a particular tendril of her hair is disturbing her because of the wind.
Naina, who is very particular about the rules and commands, refrains from setting aside even a mere tendril of her hair. Of course it won't kill her, if she sets the tendril of her hair back to it's place. But no Naina is Naina! The thought about her stubborn nature brings a smile on Rajveer's face. Yes, it's true that she can participate in revolts; can sneek out of KMA with her friends when on a secret mission without getting scared; without giving a second thought but in the same way her mind can run anticlockwise too! And suddenly Rajveer has the urge, the desire to set the tendril of her hair back to its place! He clears his throat and mind simultaneously.
"Aaj yahan KMA mein wapas aakar, apne ghar wapas aakar, apne parivar ke beech khade ho kar mujhey kitni khushi ho rahi hai ye main bayan nahi kar sakta",
Naina's and Rajveer's eyes meet for fraction of seconds as he utters the words 'apne parivaar ke beech khade ho kar!' The accidental meeting of their eyes not only skips Naina's heartbeat, but it has it's affect on Rajveer too! He creases his brows as the anger builds inside him gradually on witnessing, her avoiding him!
Soon his speech ends, and the whole academy greets him with a big round of applause, but he notices that Naina is standing still, staring him constantly.
(Rajveer-Naina slow tune begins)
Everyone gets back to their classes except his six favourite cadets, who with their moist eyes wait for their Rajveer Sir to reach them. They notice that he is limping, and run to help him, support him.
This condition of her mentor, Captain Rajveer, hurts Naina to the core. She walks forth but something stops her, his words, his last words to her before he left...
"Naina iss system ne mujhse mera sub kuch cheen lia, mere ranks, mere medals, mera parivar, mera pya...".
The look he gave to her, that explained everything to her, his feelings for her and oh... the final hug!
The hug, which was not a hug between a mentor and a cadet; it wasn't even between a teacher and a student. That day it wasn't Captain Rajveer and Cadet Naina hugging each other but it was Naveen's friend, Rajveer and Naveen's sister, Naina, Rajveer and Naina hugging each-other!
The hug wasn't a quick one like it should have been, given the circumstances they were in. It was rather a proper emotional hug. It was as if, none of them wanted to let the other go. As if at that moment they regretted the fact that although they had ample time to be with each-other; to talk their heart out to each-other; to tell what's hidden in their hearts - the truth, the true feelings for each-other, the position they have given to each-other in their life but they wasted all the opportunities that life had provided them with.
At that particular moment Rajveer regretted that he didn't show his dominance to her! During those days, when after knowing the truth that he killed Naveen, Naina refused to talk to him. Hell about refused, she rather made sure that her each action hurt him to the core! He could have pulled her to a corner behind the walls while she was passing by the corridor. He could have shown her right there, right at that point of time that if Rajveer can be too friendly with her, then if time comes he can also make sure that she obeys him! It's not that he would have tortured her, that of course he would have never done to her, not even in his dreams but he surely could have taught her - who he is to her and how should she behave with him! Remembering all this, she calms down her desire to reach him; to help him; to look at him closely; to medicate his wound! And in the end she calms down her desire to be with him!
"Sir! We got you Sir!" ,
says Yudi, holding Captain Rajveer along with Huda, Ali and Alekh. Pooja too stands with them, concerned.
"Aap theek to ho na Sir?" ,
asks Alekh, with a look of concern. Captain Rajveer gives him a weak smile.
"Abey theek kaise nahi honge Qaidi?
Ye humare Captain hain, inhe kabhi kuch nahi ho sakta" ,
replies Huda, his eyes moistens as he reaches the last words. Then with a little effort to bring out an audible voice from his choked throat, choked, because of the over flow of emotions on seeing his Rajveer Sir after such a long time, he utters the words,
"Aur agar nahi bhi hain, to hum hain na, inke cadets, hum milkar inhe theek karenge".
Rajveer looks at him, his own eyes filled with emotions on witnessing the unshaken respect, love, admiration for their dear Captain Rajveer.
"Sir, aap aa gaye hain na, ab dekhna sub kuch theek ho jayega. Humein pata hai, aap kisi aur ko KMA mein apni jagah nahi lene denge",
says Pooja.
Rajveer who was engrossed in listening to them, though fully aware of Naina's presence in front of him, didn't get time to look at her. But the little moan that escaped her mouth, inaudible to others who were tensed, thinking about the situation, didn't escape his ears. He looks at her, at the very moment that he hears her moan and finds her eyes moisten. He stares at her, creasing his brows, her tension affects him! On the other hand, Naina quickly runs for her room, before her ill-mannered tears spill out.
All the five cadets along with Captain Rajveer stare at her with a look of concern.
"Naina...",
Pooja steps forward to go to her, creasing her brows out of concern. But Captain Rajveer stops her,
"Pooja, jane do ussey".
Pooja turns to address Captain Rajveer,
"Sir, wo abhi silent mode par hai. Ussey normal mode pe laney ke liye mujhey uske saath connection banna hoga".
Looking straight towards the corridor through which she left for her room, Rajveer says,
"Ab main aa gaya hun... Saarey connection ab main banaunga. Saarey adhurey signals ko ab main jodunga".
(Rajveer-Naina fast tune begins)
Turning back, he gives them a weak smile, and reads Alekh's pleading stare clearly. Rajveer pats him on his left cheek, as a gesture of an assurance, that he won't let her happen anything and would mend up the situation soon, and says, almost pleads, mujhey thoda waqt do! Smiling, he leaves for his room. Rajveer smiles, turning back, as he reads Alekh's desire in his eyes. Alekh's desire, to bring back his old sister Naina to him, as Alekh knows perfectly, that it's Rajveer, who holds the key of her happiness.
