He was working on her bangles taking them off one by one as she sank on the couch dodging his face and body ultimately finding herself smothered
"I am making chutney for dinner, u are making one of me" she giggled tonguing his ear

"Ka... I am going to call u back" she said breathlessly

"Nobody has eaten" she hissed

He continued to roll her cami as they slithered intertwined like worms

"Dey.. please da" she begged

He nuzzled and roamed and nibbled

"whadju do?" he asked thumbing her collar bone

"Rakshasi... she dropped her cup of oatmeal on the floor as i was making myself upma for lunch two days ago she said

He sucked slowly

"Umm... yeah, that helps a lot" she smiled

His hand over her curves, his palm massaging the tip with its center, slow round strokes

She arched and shook, falling back on the bed dragging him with her, as they kissed feverishly

She held his neck and kissed him several times... and then lay back hugging him

"I began to make rasam and aloo curry and a coconut imli chutney" she whispered

He kissed her again to shut her up

She freed herself and narrated half of what happened with Bally

"shut up II" he ordered and kissed

"Can I go to Akka's?" she asked

His body stiffened

"For the night?"

"U wud love that wont u... u can be in charge of Nivi all night" she said weakly

"Nice try" he hissed burrowing with his dense hairy head

"Please da" she begged

Nivi was eating cake crumbs off the floor... LAYING DOWN, FACE DOWN, LICKING the italian marble

"Anga azhukku riukku dee... poi thoda" (I see a smudge right there, go lick it off) she said to her daughter cynically
Smacking her butt and sitting her up, her jeepney tee all grimy

R&B picked her up as she screamed and stiffened yelling

"La mainnu pakda" Ranjan scolded his son

"Did he hit her?" Ranjan asked

"U think he would?" II asked

"Tera kaam hoyega jaroor' he said

II served herself some rice in a bowl and dug in

"Naal baithke kha" Ranjan said

"I am going to Akka's" Ii said

"10 VAJE?" he asked

II nodded

"Kee hoya?" he asked

"Umm..." "Just to chat" II mumbled

R&B knew she was lying

"Naal jaayin puttar he said

"I am going to go take a shower if u will feed her" R&B said

II stuffed her face, adding fried rice snacks... served herself home made dahi for curd rice

He watched her feast on her own cooking, she held up two spoons of chutney rice and potato curry and curd rice... he refused curd rice

"U will probably eat turkey sandwich now no?" she asked sadly as she left the kitchen

"No... I will wait for my Iyer food" he muttered, meeting her gaze

II bit her lower lip hiding a smile

Shilpa: It took me YEARS. Ofcourse I came into a zero Desi town, I mean ZERO... there were only 7 families in my town and they all lived 15 kms away
It was awful at first
I hated every bit of it... I just couldnt imagine living here for even a year
I missed the noise, the crowd the messiness of Delhi greatly
I spoke English fluently just like 99% of urban Desis, yet I struggled to assimilate
I was treated absolutely wonderfully though, my husband's coworkers threw a party a night to welcome me... I must have received 50 gora and 7 desi parties that first year
Couldnt blame the people, or the place... It was ME, i JUST hated it

Now I cant imagine living in India for various reasons
I still live in an area where there are no desis for atleast 5 or 7 kms
But I love it

I never get know who is getting together why I dont get invited to parties or who hates me or who cooks the worst food, or who has the messiest house
I am friends with a group, thats been married as long as I have, I only see them, when their kids graduate or they celebrate 20th or 25th anniversaries...

I live a life devoid of desi drama

You will soon apreciate everything
Give yourself time

It will never be India
Dont even hope for it

Iyer food is colourful and satisfies all senses

Iyer food is best eaten off a plantain leaf laid wet and clean

The curry, Kootu , usili, avail, sambar, pachadi,Rasam , appalam,

mor kuzhambhu, vattha kuzhambu and katti thayir follow in an organised train

The range of payasams and thogayals the vatthals and vadams

Chutneys and podis are a range by themself

You can feast and savor them all

Iyer food has a range of Tiffens'

Iddli, Doai, uthappam Adai, Sevai, Uppuma and pongal

Vadai, bhajji, kesari, bonda, mor kali , kozhakattai, puttu and appam

Iyer snacks are yummy too the murukku, thatai, muthusarai seedai

Athirasam , monaharam, jangiri, thenkuzhal, boondi can be muched and carried along

Iyer food is varied and has to be relished and savoured a cuisine that doesn't suit all.

She returned with Shravu at 11:45
Settled him down in one of the 1st floor bedrooms, she didnt know how R&B would react...
It was a crazy mess

Athim had flipped out, Akka had cried, Kamakshi Athai had speculated

Thatha Paati had taken sides, not the same one.. mind you

There was no "D II" to go to any more

Amma was taking something to help her sleep the last week or so
rohini was just not likeable according to her
She missed her Malai Mandir
She missed "beinga bureaucrat's wife" she missed the R K Puram hustle

Appa didnt know, Ii had taken Amma to primary care and gotten her a mild prescription

School wont be out until May, it was only Feb now

Appa didnt know about amma being unable to sleep, he was already dealing with trying to "adjust to a life without a job"
he was not interested in the newspaper much or Sun TV either

Janaki Athai came by daily, now that she spoke broken Hindi... to keep him from going batty


Ranjan was awake and on the computer in his office on the first floor

He was startled to hear II speak in Tamil

He stepped out to see Shravu... a puffy faced, hurting... miserable Shravu

"Bournvita tharatuma chithi?" ( can I bring?) she cooed

He began to cry

"Azhaade kanna... u are are a wild child" she said angrily, about the last part

Ranjan left them alone but followed her to the kitchen

Bala Vandu theek hain?" he asked

"Umm.. Dad... kisi ko mat kehna please" II begged

Ranjan looked confused

"Dad... isne class mein kisi girl ko love note bheja" II said, ashamed, lowering her gaze

"rabba" Ranjan whispered

"Athim ne kaha... isko aise sab karna hai to he cant stay here" Ii began to cry... choking up

"Dad PLEASE Sam ko nahi kehna" she begged

Ranjan was upset "U think u are a stranger? U belong to this family beta... ur secret is ours" he patted her shoulder

"Amma is taking tranquilizers.. subah school hai unko... Appa is still moping... kisi ko kaha nahi... I brought him after Athai and Thatha Pati went to bed" II said wearily

She heard Nivi cooing from the central audio system

"Ja... tu bhi kuch kha le... so jaayin puttar" he urged kindly, soothing her hair

she hadnt taken her jacket off.. she looked tired and beat

She suddenly realized R&B hadnt eaten... he said he was going to wait

She mixed up chutney rice, with potatoes and rice papad and a bowl of rasam and, by then Ranjan had summoned mahavir to take bournvita and cookies to shravu


She went up with the food,Nivi slept in the crib wearing a pink onesie... he sat on the swing reading...

"Khana laga doon sir?" she teased "Jet lag hai tumhe KITNA PADHOGEY?" she demanded and proceeded to narrate the ill effects of too much reading😆🤣
for like 10 minutes...

He could tell from her eyes she had wept

He chuckled "ha"

"Bahar khaogey?" Kitna thanda hai... Feb mein itni sardi mein bahar baithne waale tum EK AKELE ho" she said next
She had a story for everything and a dissertation for everything

She grabbed his jacket from the back of the swing and wore it on top setting the tray in between first

He ate quietly

"what took you so long?" he asked

"I brought Shravu" she said

He paused... and then ate quietly

"Umm... just like that" she lied... couldnt let her ego take a beating... by admitting to her husband that her nephew was a brat
She had accused him two years ago... alleging... pinning such unsavory behavior on him because he was wealthy

She couldnt do it

He extended a spoonful of phirni she had brought... "U never brought chocolates" she said
