Maan and Geet- Love Wins Against All Odds..
Precap- Tears fell out of Asha's eyes and she fell to her knees. Suddenly someone put a hand on Asha's shoulder and she jerked up looking at the person in front of her in shock.
(Why didn't you tell us that you are the daughter of Naina Ma'am and captain Rajveer.)
Chapter 10
Asha looked up to see Shaad looked down at her with eyes fill with anger, hurt, curiosity and much more emotion she couldn't interpret. Asha shoot up to her legs and wiped her tears. Her eyes were wide of shock as she looked at Shaad.
Asha: "Shaad...tum...tum yaha." (Shaad...you...you, what are you doing here?)
Shaad held Asha's shoulder and gripped it, hard. He squeezed her shoulder making her wince in pain.
Shaad: "Kyu chupiya hum sab se sach" (Why did you hide the truth from us?)
Asha: "Shaad, you are hurting me."
Shaad: "Hurt...Hurt to tum ne humma kiya hai, humse sach chupa kar. (Hurt...you are the one that has hurt us by hiding the truth.)
Asha continued to struggle to free herself, but Shaad's grip on her was too tight.
Shaad: "Kyu bola jhoot?" (Why did you lie?)
Asha was saved from answering as all of their friends came running there.
Vijay: "Tum dono, yeah aakali raat mein, iss sunsaan jhaga mein kya kaar rahai hai." (What are you do doing in here alone, in this quiet night?)
Shaad: "Vijay please. Aap sab log yaha se jhaieyay. Hum mein Asha se kuch aakala mein baat karni hai" (Vijay please. You all go from here. I have to talk to Asha about something important.)
Prerna: "Deakh Shaad hum samaj shakta hai ki tujha Asha se baat karni hai, magar abhi lights out hona mein srif 5 minute hai, to abhi ka liya goodnight. (Look Shaad, we all understand that you want to talk to Asha, but there is only 5 minutes till lights out so good night for now.)
Rhidi and Prerna drag Asha out from there while the boys head to their room. Asha thanked god in her mind for saving her even though she knew it was just for than and she would have to face Shaad again tomorrow. That entire night Shaad and Asha both couldn't sleep. Asha was up all night thinking about whether she should tell Shaad the truth or make up a lie but deep down she knew she could never lie to Shaad. Something in her stopped her everything she tried to lie to Shaad. No matter what she told herself she knew that at the end of the day she had to tell Shaad the truth. Not being able to sleep she walked up to the window, making sure she didn't disturbed her sleeping friends. She stood on the window, staring at the moon.
Shaad's condition was not any better than Asha's. He tossed and turned in the bed thinking why Asha lied to them and why it was bothering him so much. Yes he hated liars, but that doesn't mean he had never met a liar in his life. His own friends had lied to him a lot, it is just in human nature to lie. No lie had ever hurt him this much before, so why was the lie told by Asha affecting him so much. His mind was clouded and sleep was far away. He silently slipped from his bed ad walked towards the widow. Asha and Shaad both spend that night staring at the moon, deep in thoughts. ____________________________________________________________________________
The next day Asha tries her best to ignore Shaad, while Shaad was trying to use every opportunity he got to confront Asha and this situation did not go unnoticed by the gang. Now all the cadets were lined up for Maj. Nair's riffle drill. Nair had finished explaining the task to the cadets when Huda showed up to watch the cadets first rifle drill.
Nair: "Cadet Singh, come up."
Asha came forward and Nair threw the heavy rifle at Asha, but Asha was prepared for it so she was able to catch the rifle with ease.
Nair: "Cadet, shoot"
Asha didn't follow the order but instead just stood there.
Nair: "Sunai nahi dektha kya. I said shoot." (Can't you hear? I said Shoot.)
Asha: "Sunai to detha hai sir, magar lagta hai aapko instructions dena nahi aata." (I can hear well sir, but it seems like you don't know how to give instructions")
Nair: "WHAT DO YOU MEAN CADET?"
Asha: "I am sorry sir, I did not intend to offend you, magar aapne yeah bata diya ki target pe shoot karna hai, magar yeah nahi bataiya ki kaisa shoot karna hai. Matlab ki iss rifel chalana ki technique hai kya. Sir, humsab ne aapka bara mein bohot suna hai ki app bohot aacha sharp shooter hai, toh kyu na aap hi humma dekhai ki kaisa shoot kiya jata hai." (I am sorry sir, I didn't intend to offend you, but you just told us to shoot the target, but didn't tell is how to shoot. Meaning what is the technique to shoot this rifle. See, we all have heard so many things about you, about how good of a sharp shooter you are so why don't you show us how to shoot")
By then Nair was fluming with anger for being insulted by a 1st year cadet while Huda, and the rest of the Cadet look at Asha, amazed at her willingness, and straightforwardness to stand up to Nair. Nair ordered an orderly to give him another rifle, but Asha interrupted and extended her rifle to Nair while saying...
(Sir, I want that you fire with this rifle.")
Nair: "Yeah kaisa bachpana hai Cadet, mein dekha raha hoonn na. Orderly, rifle." (What kind of childish behavior is this, I am showing you. Orderly, rifle)
Asha looking dead at Nair's eyes: "Sir, I insist"
By now everyone present at the ground was curious about what Asha was planning, especially Huda therefor he said...
Huda: "Sir, agar cadet singh itna hei insist kar rahi hai to wohi rifle se fire kar dhi jha, agar harz hai kya hai." (Sir, if cadet Singh is insisting so much than shoot with that rifle, what is the harm.)
Unware to decline Nair, very slowly and carefully took the rifle from Asha hand. He took his time to position the rifle on the shoulder as everyone sat back and watched. Nair swallowed the lump in his throat and pulled the trigger. A sound was heard around the academy and it was not the sound of the rifle, rather it was the scream of Nair as he fell to the floor holding his shoulder.
Asha walked to him and kneeled down.
Asha: "Sir, aap ne woh kahawat to suna hi hoga ki joh ghada khot tha hai, wohi ussi gadha pe jaa kar girta hai. Yeah jo aapka chal hai, ladki ko jam lagi hua rifle de kar fail karana ka who bohot purana ho chukka hai kuch naya soach lana magar usse se pehela Dr. Shalini se jaa kar mil lina, dislocated shoulder ko immediate attention ki jarut padata hai. (Sir, you must have heard of that saying that who digs the pit, will fall in the pit. This game of yours to give girls a jammed rifle and fail them has gotten old, think of something new, but before that go and see Dr. Shalini, dislocated shoulders needs immediate attention)
Before Asha could say anything Huda managed to suppress his laughter and stopped Asha from saying anything else she would regret.
Huda: "Cadet Singh that is enough. Sir mein aapko Dr. Shalini ki paas le kar jaata hoon aur aaj ka liya class dismiss." (Cadet Singh that is enough. Sir, I will take you to Dr. Shalini and for today class dismiss.)
Huda walked away supporting an in pain yet angry Nair and the rest of the cadets started leaving. Asha was also about to leave when she heard Shaad stop her.
Shaad: "Asha, humma aap se kuch jharuri baat karni hai." (Asha, I have to talk to you about something important)
With that Shaad left with Asha following him leaving behind their friends who were confused and suspicious.
Asha and Shaad entered Asha's hostel room.
Shaad: "Kal raat to aap bach gayi magar aab aap ko humma sab kuch batana hoga. Yeah batana hoga ki aapne hu sab se sach kyu chupiya. Itna bhi bharosa nahi tha?" (You were save last night but now you will have to tell me everything. You have to tell why you hid this truth from all of us. Don't you trust us?)
(It could have also been that I didn't recognize you)
Shaad: "Ek aur jhoot" (One more lie)
Asha drew a deep breath as she realized that she had no other choice than to tell the truth.
Asha: "Tumma puri kahani sunni hai?" (Do you want to listen to the entire story?)
Shaad: "Haan" (Yes)
Asha: "Toh phir beadh jaho, kahani bohot lambi hai" (Than sit down, the story is quiet long)
Shaad sat down and Asha settled next to him.
Asha: "Kaha se suru karun?" (Where should I start?)
Shaad: "Yeah class se bhi humma dismiss kar diya hai, aur hamari dusri period free hai, matlab hummara paas bohot time hai, to suru se suru kariya" (We have been dismissed from the class, and our next period is free so we have plenty of time so start from the beginning.)
Asha: "Theek hai. Jaisa tumma pata hai academy se pass hona ki turant baad maa ne aapna mission bana liya tha, papa ko inrdos sabit karna ka. Yeah prove karna ka ki Papa ne Col. Shakti Chandra ka murder nahi kiya tha." (Fine. As you know, right after graduating from the academy, mom had made it her mission to prove dad innocent. To prove that dad did not kill Col. Shakti Chandra.)
Shaad: "Yeah sab to hum main pata hai"
Asha: "Puri kahini sunni hai yeah nahi?" (Do you want to hear the full story or not)
Shaad kept quiet and Asha took this as a signal to continue.
Asha: "Maa ne bohot jhaldi hi case solve kar diya tha. Logo ko laga ki maa ne aapni kabiliat ki balbuta par case solve kiya hai, magar sachiye kuch aur hi thi" (Maa solved the case really quiclly. People thought that she did it on her own, but the truth is something else.)
Shaad: "Matlab? (Meaning)
Asha: "Matlab case ki dauran maa ko koi letters bhej raha tha, aur us letter mein har woh cheez likha hota tha jo maa ko case mein madad kaar Shakti thi. Yaha tak ki wohi letters maa ko evidence tak paucha thi thi" (Meaning, during the case someone was sending Maa letters, and those letters would hld answers to all the case related questions. It was those letters that would lead maa to all the clues")
"Woh letters bhejne wala har letter main Good luck Cadet Naina ah' Singh' liktha tha, to maa ko lagna laga ki who letters Papa bhej rahi tha, magar iss se pehle ki unna letters ki sachai pata chala case sole ho gaya aur letters aana band"(The one who send the letter would always write Good Luck Cadet Naina Ah' Singh', so maa started to think that the letter was from papa, but before she to dig into the trut about the letters, the case got solve and the letters stopped coming.")
Shaad was now completely vested in the story being told by Asha.
Shaad: "Phir?" (Than?)
Asha: "Phir to tum hai, pata hi hai. Maa ne aap ne app ko sab se dur kar diya. Itna dur kar diya ki woh na to Alekh mama ki shadi main gaye, na hi Pooja Massi ki Shaadi. Woh na to Abhimanyu Chacha ki shaadi mein gaya, aur na hi woh, Raghu bhaiya, aur Gurbana didi ki naam karan main gayi. Woh srif deadly mission mein jana lagi tha. Woh jinda thi to sirf papa ko diya hua vaada ki vhaja se." (You know ahat happened after that. Maa isolated herself from everyone else. She isolated herself so much that she didn't attend Alekh uncle's weeding, nor did she attend Pooja aunt weeding. She didn't go to Abhimanyu uncle's weeding, nor did she go to Raghu brother and Gurbani sister's naming ceremony. She started accepting only deadly missions. She was living ust because of the promise she had given papa)
Asha got up and walked to the window. She wiped her tears and turned around to look at Shaad, who was also feeling very emotional.
Asha: "This went on for about two years. Maa aag mein khud thi reahthi thi, magar uppar wala unna haar baar bacha lata tha. Phir ek di, maa ko ek chitti phir se aayi. Us mein likha tha ki agar maa ko sach jhana hai to unna Mumbai jhana hoga, to maa ne bhina kuch socha samjha chutti maang li aur Pooja massi ki yaha Mumbai chali gayi." (This went on for about 2 years. Maa kept jumping in fire, but god kept saving her. Than one day, maa received another letter. This letter told her to go to Mumbai, and maa without think about anything went to Pooja Maasi's house in Mumbai)
Shaad: "Yeah kya woh rakhi ki time ki baat hai?" (Did this happen during Rakhi?)
Asha: "Bilkul. Woh Rakhi ki time thi. Us wakt Sammy Bhaiya aur Bani di kuch 2 saal ka tha. Rakhi ki din, pata nahi kaha se maa ko aapna luggage main ek letter mila. Pata nahi kis ne kab rakh diya tha woh chitti. Uss mein likha tha ek sun saan jhaga ki pata. Maa uss pata mein chali gayi." (Absolutely it was during the Rakhi season. At that time Sammy brother and Bani sister were about 2 years Old. On the day of the Rakhi someone slipped a letter in maa's luggage. Don't know who kept there, but it that letter maa was instructed to go to a isolated place. Maa went there)
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
I went to the address written in the letter. I did a full 360* but there was no one there. I felt all the hope fall from me. I was about to leave when I felt something cover my nose and eyes, and my eyes closed.
I groaned in pain, as my brain pounded in my head. I fluttered my eyes open. Everything around me was blurred. I rubbed my eyes, and held my head in pain. I looked around the place.
"Mein yeah kaha hoo?" I thought to myself.
I was about to get up from the bed, when a figure covered the door way. Seeing that person standing at the door, all the muscle in my brain froze. I wanted to get up, run scream, cry, but I couldn't do anything. Time slowed down as he started to move toward me. He sat down next to me on the bed and handed me a glass of water. I somehow, managed my arm muscle to work and sgabbed the water, but I couldn't bring myself to drink it.
"Aap?" I questioned.
"I know cadet...mera matlab Captain, ki tum is wakt bohot confuse ho, magar abhi tum hai abhi aaram ki jharurat hai. " He said.
He got up to leave and seeing him almost out the door, my senses kicked in and I was able to talk.
"Sir" I said and he turned around, and looked at me. I threw the blanked and ran to him. Without thinking about anything, I wrapped my hands around him and embraced him in a hug. Tears welled my eyes. I didn't even try to hold them back. I had waited for this moment for such a long time. To be in his embrace again. I don't know how long we stayed hugging each other at that door way. We slowly pulled apart. My eyes found his and we connected with each other once again, not physically but emotionally. I raised my hand and touch his cheeks.
"Rajveer sir" I said and he placed his hand on top of mine on his cheeks. I closed my eyes to relish the moment and a lone tear escaped my eyes. I felt his hand come to my cheeks to wipe the tear.
"Aab aur nahi Naina. Hum ne hamari hissa ki dhukh jheel liya hai, aab hamari zindagi mein srif khushi hogi" RV said. I nodded my head ad my hand slide down from his cheeks.
"Tum hai bhuk lag rahi hogi. Kuch khaa leti haa" He said and led me out the room. I sat on the counter as I watched him make noodles. We ate in silence, not the uncomfortable kind of silence. He took my bown after I finished and went to wash them. I sat in the couch. I felt him join me in the couch after a while.
"Kaha tha aap? Pata hai aap ka bina mera kya haal ho gaya tha?" I questioned
"I am sorry Naina. Mein majbur tha. Mein tum hai sab kuch bata dena chata tha ,magar mein majbuttha" He said
"aisa kya majburi thi ki aap muj se bhi share nahi kar shakta tha" I said
"Naina jab us din jeep mein aag lagna ne pehla hi mein jeep se kudh chukka tha. Siyad blast ki impact ka vhaja se mein bihosh ho gaya. Jab hosh aaya to mein ne aap ne aap ko ek bed par paya. Kuch wakt baad waha kuch logo aaya. Un no ne mujha batiya ki woh army ki secret assassin hai. Naina, who log pura ka pura janawar hai. Un ki paas dil hi nahi hai." He said
I held him hand and urged him to continue.
The wiped the tears that filled his eyes.
"Woh log mujhe missions par bhej ne laga. Haar mission ek hi tarah ka hota hai...kisi ki jaan lena, magar mujha un no ne khabi bhi koi galab kaam ka liya nahi bola. Haar jis ko mujhe maar na tha, who sab corrupted tha. Corrupt ministers, corrupt officers." He said. (Guys similar to what Gunny used to do)
I didn't know what to say. He had been through so much. I just tightened my hold over his hand. He turned toward me and looked me in the eyes.
"Bohot khatarak log hai woh sab. Yeah secret organization ka bara mein kisi ko nahi pata, aur jis ko pata lag jata hai, yeah log unna maar deta hai. Naina aab tumari jaan ko bhi khatra hai." He said
"Rajveer sir..."I said, but he cut me off.
"Naina let me finish. Mein nahi reah Shakta tha tumarai bina aur. Mujha pata chala ki tum ne case reopen kar diya hai, aur mein ne tumari madat kiya, magar yeah baat un logo ko pata chal gaya aur un logo ne mujhe ek aisa mission par bhej diya jo bohot hi completed tha. Jab mission se lota to mujha pata chala ki tum ne aap na kya halat bana liya tha. Mein ne decide kiya ki mein aab tum hai sab bata dhunga, aur ab hum dono yaha hai. I am sorry cadet, I know it is not my right to put you in dang..."
He couldn't complete his sentence his sentence because I placed my mouth on top of his.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Asha: "Uss ka baad maa aur papa chup chup ka mila laga. Un logo ne chup ka se shaadi bhi kaar li. Maa ki zindagi mein fir se khussi a gayi thi, aur un ka hoto mein haasi. Un ka saara dosto bhi yeah change dekh kar bohot khush thay. Kissi ko bhi koi sakh nahi hua, sivaya Alekh mama ko. Un ne lagna laga ki maa sab se kuch chupa rahi hai. Mama ne maa se baat karna ki koish ki, magar maa ne kisi ko kuch nahi batiya." (After that maa and papa started meeting in secret. They even got secretly got married. Happiness was one again part of maa's life and there was always a smile on her lips. All of her friend were very happy seeing this change in her. No one suspected a thing except Alekh mama. He stated to think that maa was hiding something from everyone. Mama tried to talk to maa, but maa didn't tell anyone anything.)
Shaad: "Phir kya hua?" (Than kya hua)
Asha: "Wohi hua jo haar love story mein hota tha." (The same thing that happens in all love story)
Shaad: "Kya matlab?" (What do you mean?)
Asha walked up to her dresser and pulled out a piece of letter.
Asha: "Yeah woh aakhri letter hai jo papa ne maa ko likha tha" (This is the last letter papa wrote to maa):
Cadet Naina Ah' Singh
I am sorry. Un logo ko sab pata chal gaya hai. Mein jo bhi karna jaa raha hoo tumhari liya karna wala hoo. Mein jaa raha hoo Naina, ek aisa mission par jis se syaad hi mein jinda wapas aayu. Naina, mere tum se ek hi request hai, tum please hamasha haastha rahina. Mein nahi chata ki meri Naina ki Naina khabi geela hoo. I love you Naina and always will.
Your
RV
Asha: "Un logo ne papa ko aisa mission par bheej diya ki woh aaj tak wapas nahi aaya?"(They send papa away in such a mission that he still has not come back.)
Shaad: "Asha..."
Asha cut Shaad.
Asha: "Shaad, please let me finish. Agar tum hai puri kahani suni hai to mujhe continue karna please" (Shaad, please let me finish. If you want to listen to the entire story than please let me continue please)
Shaad stayed quiet while Asha carefully put the letter back in the dresser. She went toward her bed and sat down. Shaad followed her and sat down next to her.
Asha: "Shaad you have to understand, yeah mera liya aasan nahi hai yeah sab batana. Yeah koi maan gharanat kahana nahi hai, yeah mera zindagi ka hissa hai, it is a part of my life." (Shaad you habe to understand, this is not easy for me to sit here and tell you everything. This is not a fiction story I just created, this is a part of my life.)
Shaad, hesitantly, uncertainly, placed his hand on top of Asha, and suggested a small smile.
Asha: Jis din maa ko yeah letter mila tha, wohi din maa ko yeah bhi papa chala tha I who pregnant hai. Ek taraf un ne maa bana ki khushi thi to dusri taraf un no ne ek baar phir se aapna pyar kho diya tha" (The day maa got this letter was the same day she found out she was pregnant. That day was maa's happiest and the saddest day. In one hand she found out she was pregnant and on the other hand she lost her love once again)
Asha wiped the fresh tears that had started to run down her cheeks.
Asha: "Us ka baad maa ki zindagi mein srif bad luck hi bad luck tha. Maa jis cam mein thi us camp me kuch vaja se emergency medical testing hui, aur sab ko pata chala ki maa pregnant hai. Un hai harak naam buliya gaya. Tum hai to pata hi hai. Sab logo ne bar bar maa se puchne ki kosish ki, magar maa ne kisi ko bhi nahi batiya ki papa zinda hai. Un hai ek basiya karar kar kay army se nikal diya. Jis army ko maa ki zindagi thi wohi army ne unka bara mein ek baar bhi nahi socha. (After that bad luck filled maa's life. The camp where maa was posted, for some reason had to have an emergency medical testing, and everyone found out maa was pregnant. She was called names and disrespected. Ever one tries to asked maa over over again, but maa never told anyone that papa was alive. She was declared a slu* and thrown out of army. The army that ment the life to her didn't think twice about her)
Asha: "Maa ne sab kuch peecha chord diya aur aapna life ki ek aisa journey pe nikal pade jo unna aakala teah karni thi" (Maa left everything behind and made a path for a new life, a life which she had to survive alone.)
Asha was about to continue when the door opened. Prerna sticked her head through the wall and said "Guys, Brig. Chuhan has called an assembly. Come quickly"
Hey guys,
Sorry my laptop is acting up and it is not allowing me to update rest of the chapter. I will ud it after school tomorrow. Thanks for your patient.
