"Cadet Singh Reporting sir" Asha greeted Alekh as she walked in.
"Good evening Cadet" Alekh replied. "So aapun...matlab mein tum hara mentor ban gaya" (So I am your mentor)
Asha: "Maa sahi kethi thi, aap kitney hi badey officer kyu na ban jaya, aap tapoori language kabi nai chord o gay" (Maa was right, no matter how big of an officer you become, you will never leave your tapoori language)
Alekh blushed a little of embarrassment and gave a sly smile.
Asha: "Sir, actually mein yaha aap ko thanks keah ney aayi thi" (Sir, I had actually come here to thank you)
Alekh: "Thank you...kis liya" (Thank you...for what?)
Asha: "Maa ko support kar ney kay liya. Unki jab se muskil wat mein aap unkay saath thay. Aap ne har kadam per unka saath diya tha. Mujhe aap ko thanks karna hai kyu ki aap maa kay sache dost rahay. Aap ko thanks karna hai kyuki Mumbai move karney se pehley aap ne meri bohot khal raha tha." (For supporting maa. For being with her at the hardest times. You supported her at her every step of the way. I want to thank you for being a true friend to maa. I want to thank you because you took care of me before we moved to Mumbai.)
Alekh: "Tum hai thank you bolney ki koi jarurat nahi hai. Aapun ne Naina kay liya jo kiya aapney khushi kay liya kia. Us me much jaisay quidi ko ek aache insaan banaya. Daru kay nasha mein doob ne se bachaya. Aur se badi baath. Uss ne aappun ko ek ghar diya, ek parivaar diya. Mushe bhai mana. Aagar mein Naina ek aaisan gin ne beeth gaya na toh, duniya katam ho jaegi, magar Nain aka aaisan nahi" (There is no reason for you to thank me. Whatever I did for Naina, I did for my own happiness. She turned a criminal like me into a person. She stopped me from become an alcoholic. And the most important thing, she gave me a family. She called me her brother. If I start counting Naina's mercy on her, then the work will end but her mercy will never end)
Asha: "Jo bhi wo, mein bohot khush ho ki aap meray mentor hai" (I am really happy that you are my mentor)
Alekh: "Khush toh aapun bhi hai toh ki aapun aapneyish mentor ki beta ka mentor ban aka mauka mila" (I am also happy, that I am the mentor of my mentor's daughter)
Asha: "Maa aap sab ki bohot baat kiya karti thi" (Maa used to talk a lot about you all)
Alekh: "Kaisay hai aab wo" (How is she now?)
Asha: "Fortunately, aab unki health mein sudar hai...sayad papa kay milne aaney se effect hua hai (Fortunately, her heath is restoring...maybe papa comeing to see her left an effect)
Alekh: "Hmmmh"
Asha: "Kya aap iss kay baray mein kuch jantay hai?" (Do you know anything about this?)
Alekh looked away, unable to meet her eyes.
Asha: "Please, agar aap papa ka baray mein kuch bhi jantay hai toh please mujhe..." (Please, if you know anything about papa then please...)
She could not finish her statement as tears whelmed her eyes. She fell on her knees as she sobbed badly.
Alekh turned around not able to see Asha in such condition. He himself was trying hard to control his tears. He took a deep breath and kneed beside her. He grabbed her solders and said...
Alekh: "Cadet khadi hoo. Tum hain aaisay himmat karna soba nahi deta. Common" (Cadet stand up. It does not suit you to lose hope like like.)
Asha: "Nahi sir, mein nahi kar Shakti. Main thak gayi hoon. Sab se ladtay ladtay. Meray aakh shuk gaya rootay rootay, magar aasu nahi. Haar chuki hoon mein, haar chuki hoon." (No sir, I cannot do this anymore. I am tired of fighting, my eyes have gone dry from crying, but the tears do not stop. I have already lost, I have lost)
Alekh: "Khabardaar Asha. Haar ki baat mat karna. Aap ne papa ki baat bhool gayi. Kya ketha thay wo..." (Don't you dare Asha. Don't talk about losing. Did you forget your papa's words. What did he used to say?)
Asha: "Aakhri saas tak jung chalti hai, aur ek sapai aapni aakhri saas tak jung ladta hai" (You fight until your last breath, and a shoulder fights until their las breath)
Alekh: "Right, iss liya jaa o aur camp kay liya tayar ho" (Right, so go and get ready for camp.)
Asha slowly got up from the floor and stood up. With a new found hope and determination Asha left the room. As soon as Asha was out the door, Alekh was on the floor crying his eyes out for the girl who had gotten everything snatched from her.
Later that day everyone gathered into the bus and drove to an unknown destination. Everyone had to sit with their respected mentor. Bhargav was standing in the front telling them about the procedure or something but hardly anyone was paying any attention.
Soon enough they reached their destination and everyone loaded off the bus.
Bhargav: "Welcome Cadets and Officers. Aap log ki supplies aapki right mein hain aur aap kay peechay ek map. Map kay location par aap aapney tent set karengay, aur kal subha theek 5h30m mein yahi report karangay, questions?" (Welcome cadets and Officers. Your supplies are to your right and behind you is a map. You will set up a tent at your given location and will report back here tomorrow morning at exactly 5h30m, any questions?)
Alekh: "Sirji?"
Bhargav lookd at Alekh with a frustration look.
Bhargav: "What is it?"
Alekh: "Sir, agar mein aapney cadet ko extra training kay liya bahar lee jana chau toh..." (Sir, if I want to take out my cadet for extra traning can I...?)
Bhargav gave a small devilish smile.
Bhargav: "As long as app ki traning capt. Rajveer ki jitney personal na ho...dismiss" (As long as your training does not get as personal as Capt. Rajveer's)
With that insult Bhargav left, and so did Alekh and Asha as they held their anger inside them.
Asha: "So kya plan hain?" (So what is the plan?)
Alekh: "Kya plan?" (What plan?)
Asha: "Aapne Bhargav ko yeah pucha. Toh hum kaha jaa rahay hain" (You asked Bhargav. So where are we going)
Alekh gave a small smile: "Pehlay tent laga leay" (Let's fix the tent first)
Asha gave a smile and they together fixed up the tent.
Asha: "Toh ab chalay" (Can we go now)
Alekh: "Bilkul aapney maa ki tarah, humasha jaldi mein" (Just like your mom, always in a hurry)
Asha: "Mein hoon toh aapni maa ki hi bati. Chalay. (I am my mother's daughter, let's go)
Alekh: "Chalo." (Let's go)
***************In the Forest**************
Rajveer was cooking his dinner...or should we say TRYING to cook. These past years he lived alone, Capt. Rajveer learned how to do everything, but cooking definitely was not his cup of tea.
**********
Asha: "Hum is jungle mein jaa kaha rahay hain" (Where are we going in this jungle)
Alekh: "Tum hai hi toh jana tha" (You were the one wanting to go)
Asha: "Magar hum jaa kaha rahay hai?" (But where are we going?)
Alekh: "Surprise hai"
After a while Alekh and Asha reached and stopped outside a hut.
Asha: "Yeah..."
Alekh: "Asha... andar jo hai...tum hain yeah samajna hoga ki..." (Asha...whatever is inside...you have to understand...)
Asha: "Aaisa kya hai" (What it it)
Alekh: "Khud jaa kar dekho" (Go and see yourself)
Asha gave Alekh a look and went inside.
What Asha saw inside made the blood drain from her face. A man, whose face he could not see, was trying his best to cook.
Rajveer: "God, yeah khana kaisay banatay hain, ab tak nahi pata chala" (God, I still cannot cook food)
This statement made a small smile appear in Asha's face.
Asha with teary eyes: "Khana banana toh mujhe bhi nahi aata" (Even I do not know how to cook)
Rajveer upon hearing this voice turns around. Seeing the girl standing in front of him, tears filled his eyes.
Rajveer: "Tum yaha?"
Without saying another word she ran towards Raj and threw her arms around him. Rajveer shirt was now wet with Asha's tears. Between her sobs Asha said...
Asha: "I missed you papa...I missed you so much"
Alekh standing at the door wiped his tears at looking at the happy reunion.
