Chapter 2: Growing up together

Year 1990

Gujarat, Ahemdabad

2 days later

"Aap ghar jao bhaiya Harsh ke saath, mein rukti hoon Anju ke paas. " Renuka informed Kishor.

"Arey aise kaise?? Main hoon na. Waise dhwani bhi akeli hai. Ek princess ke liye doosri ko akele kaise chod sakte hai? " told Kishor

"Kish! Dhwani maa ke paas hai. Tumhe bhi rest chaiye. Chal hum thoda rest karke wapas ayenga na. Tab tak Anju ko discharge kardenge." Informed Harsh

"Acha teeke. Chal." Said Kishor.

Both of them left the hospital along with the kids leaving behind Renuka with Anju.

4 hours later:

"mujhe aapko batane ke zaroorat nahi hai. Phir bhi thoda dhyan rakhiye ga. Ab winter hai. The baby might catch flu or fever." Informed the doctor

"Ji. We will take care" told all 4 of them together to which the doctor just smiled as she signed the discharge papers.

As soon as Anju was discharged, all four of them left the hospital and reached a house which was completely decorated with balloons and flowers. Seeing this Anju was overwhelmed and started crying.

"Arey jab tum Dhwani ko aise swagath kar sakthe ho kya hum humari princess ko nahi?" asked harsh

All of them entered the house to see it full of guests who had come to see the mother, child and also to attend the naming ceremony.

The baby girl was laid in the cradle and after a small pooja she was named "SANYUKTA" by her uncle (Anju's brother) as per the ritual.

As years passed by all four kids grew up together, went to the same school and grew up to be the best friends. They had their own fights and patching up.

Yes, Randhir and Sanyukta always fought. Though Randhir was of Ankit's age yet he used to pull Sanyu's legs to just irritate her. They used to fight for every silly thing. But the best part was both could never live without the other. They used to participate in Annual day functions together. They did almost everything together. Same was the case with Dhwani and Ankit.

Both the Shekawats and the Agarwals were a happy little family facing their own ups and downs in life until,

Year 2000

"Mujhe tumse kuch baat karni hai" told harsh to kishor

"Tumhara tabyat to tikh hai? Why are you asking my permission?" joked Kishor

"Am serious Kishor" told Harsh.

"Yes tell me. What is the matter?" asked Kishor sensing the seriousness in the issue as Harsh never used Kishor's full name unless necessary.

"I've got a business proposal. I want you to go through it thoroughly and let me know if its viable. Don't give it to your assistants as I want you to personally go through this. " told Harsh

"Of course Harsh. U've got the file now?" asked Kishor

"Yes. Here." Harsh said handing over a file to Kishor

Kishor spent some half an hour reading the file. He looked up at a tensed and worried Harsh after studying the file.

"Hmmm. Ok. The proposal is worth it. You definitely should go in for it. There seems to be no loopholes in the agreements. It's a very good business deal. I've heard about the Patels group, infact they are my client. So they are reliable and you will not be at loss." Stated Kishor without meeting Harsh's eyes.

"Are you sure? I would have to leave the country Kish!" exclaimed Harsh

"Harsh harsh. Calm down. Look I know its going to be difficult for you. But look at the positive side of this. Its gonna help you expand your business. It's the time you achieve something big like this in life. You are highly capable. You get opportunities once in a life time and you need to grab it." Explained Kishor

"Hmmm. Tum kab se itne mature ho gaya hai yaar?" asked Harsh

"Jab mein char bache ke baap bane, tab." He joked

"bache. Mein unse kya kahoonga? They will never agree!!" complained Harsh

"They are kids Harsh. They might cry for a few days. But they will forget as they settle into the new environment." Told Kishor

"hmmm. Lets see what happens." Told harsh

With that the friends left Kishor's office to go home and inform about this to their wives. Though it was a shock for the wives they understood the necessity of the same as they were practical and had the ability to take the right decisions as they were well educated and worked in a reputed institution. It was decided that the Shekawats' would leve to Switzerland in a month.

After a month, at the airport (Year 2000)

"Meeti tum bi hamare saath aajao na. We still have time. I'll ask dad to book a ticket for you." Cried dhwani.

"Acha hai ki your not coming with us. " taunted Randhir

"Mishti. Mein aatha hoon na. mujhe na bore ho jaayega tumahare bina. Kiske saath fight karoonga?" pouted Ankit.

"Bhai. Chup ho jao. Misthi. We'll stay in touch. Internet tho hai. Hum mail karenge. Chill." Saying this sanyu comforted Dhwani.

"Chalo. Flight ka time ho gaya!" said Harsh

Harsh and Renuka bade adieu to Kishor and Anju. Harsh bent down to Ankit and asked him to take care of his parents and sister followed by Renuka. Later he picked up Sanyu in his hands and kissed her on her cheeks and hugged her. Similarly Kishor and Anju hugged Randhir and Dhwani.

As they left, four pairs of eyes never left the others'. It held a lot of emotions and unsaid things which they themselves could not understand. With this the Agarwals left the airport, as they reached the parking lot "Papa mein abhi aati hoon" saying this Sanyu ran back inside the airport and went to the place where she had just seen off the Shekawats. She just stood there for a few minutes, as she was about to leave seeing no sign of the other family a voice came over "Looking for me Basanti?"

"Gabbar? Tum? I came to take my... " she started

"Take your what?" he asked

"Never mind that. Why are you still here?" she asked trying to divert him

"Oh I just came to check if I left something. " He said

"Hmmm. Do you have a few minutes?" she asked

"I have all time in the world for you" he said smirking

"I don't know why its getting difficult. Ugh! Ok. Hmmm. Bye! Take care of Uncle and aunty. Dhwani. And .. and.. " she was fumbling for words as tears were forming in her eyes and she was trying her best to not let it out in front of him.

"And?" the boy asked

"Yourself" she said in a soft whisper hanging her head down as she could no longer control her tears.

He looked at her for sometime, and said "Sanyu look at me"

As she looked up he held a brown teddy which had I Will Miss you written on it.

He continued talking "I will give this to you in one condition. "

"And what is that?" she enquired in a heavy voice

"Never cry again. You look horrible. Normally, you look like a ghost and when you cry you look like a chudail. " he told in a serious voice

She smiled hearing this and promised the same. He hugged and shed a few tears before giving the doll to her.

While parting she said "Learn acting, you are a patheitc actor, you don't know to conceal your emotions Gabbar." and she started laughing

She earned a soft hit from Randhir and he gave the teddy to her. "And you learn some dancing Basanti. You were terrible this time at annual day. Thank god I was there to save our school's repuatation." With this he left the place leaving her stunned by placing a soft kiss on her left cheek.

She turned red after this. By the time she composed herself he had left the place. She started walking towards the parking lot with a smile on her face.

The entire scene was witnessed by Harsh and Kishor, who from a distant nodded their heads and left the place.

The Shekwats had boarded the plane and the Agarwals left the airport and reached home as all knew they had a long night to pass through.
