Chapter 5
Yay! It's party time!!
The sunset at the beach was just awesome! There was light breeze which was refreshing. The gurgling waves were breaking against the edge of the beach. Oyster shells were scattered on the sandy beach. Small crabs were playing hide and seek on the beach. The sky was glowing red in the setting sun. The sea was glittering like molten gold. Gradually the big ball of fire descended into the glittering sea. It seemed as if the sea was slowly engulfing the sun.
Though a pleasant breeze was blowing, it was quite hot. Kaustu, Vidz and I all three of us were wearing sleeveless blouses and shorts. The boys were also wearing t-shirts and short cargo pants.
We enjoyed a lot while walking on the sandy, pristine beach, along the shore. My friends went into the sea but I stayed on the shore as I was very much prone to the cough and cold, and not to mention the terrible headache that would surely follow.
The cold water came up to my ankle where I stood. I closed my eyes and stood there motionless, my heart full of pleasure hearing the roaring waves and feeling the water tickling my feet...
I didn't know how much time had passed, lost as I was in the complete bliss of the moment. I opened my eyes when I heard my friends calling my name. I knew we had to return to the hotel as they were all hungry from having a water fight, but I was unwilling to go. It was already dark and the beach was much less crowded than it was before. I also wanted to be the part of the crowd however small it bay be but, unfortunately, I'd to go.
We reached the hotel and ordered our supper. We went to room one-oh-one and played cards to pas time. Our supper was served in our room and it was absolutely delicious, especially the sea-fish curry. Besides pizza, I was in love with fish curies!
After supper Jiggy and Parth went to their room. We three girls slept in the over-sized king bed. All in all the first day in Goa was amazing except the argument with Randhir in the afternoon. I hope I won't see him again during my stay here!
We woke up early at 5 o'clock next day, having slept soundly last night, and hurried to the beach to see the sunrise. The scenario was as beautiful as the sunset yesterday but just the opposite. Now, unlike the sunset, the sun seemed to be rising from the depth of the blue sea" absolutely amazing.
And the sea was spectacular! The endless sea stretched up to the horizon and seemed to go beyond it. The blue sky and the sea waters were almost inseparable except for that the water was glittering in the in the bright sunlight, throwing back rainbow shards like a huge diamond.
We'd our breakfast in a road-side stall and then went to dump our money and mobiles in the hotel after a short walk on the beach. We changed into our swimsuits in our hotel rooms as we'd go swimming in the sea. I didn't see Randhir once in the hotel which was absolutely fine by me.
"There's a beach party tonight," the receptionist said as I was handing her the keys of our rooms before heading off to the beach. "Invitations will be sent out later in the day. I'm just informing you before-hand. And arrangements for dinner will be made at the beach itself." She smiled broadly at me and turned to place the keys in the right slot.
"Thank you for informing."I too smiled at her as she turned to face me. "We'll surely be there." With that I walked out of the lobby.
"Guys," I called my friends as I reached the front gate of the hotel where they're waiting for me. "There's a beach party tonight."
"Wow! Beach party!" they exclaimed together, shouting at the top of their voices.
"Ow. Relax." I covered my ears with my hands to save myself from getting deaf.
"What time?" Parth asked.
"I dunno. The invitations will come later in the day." I replied.
"What about dinner?" Jiggy asked.
"Tujhe khane ke ilawa aur kuchh sujhta hai?" I chuckled and Jiggy shook his head, joining in on the laughter. I continued, "The dinner arrangements will be made at the beach."
"Wait, wait." Vidz suddenly said, shooting up her hands, palms towards me, like a traffic police. "Do we have to pay something for the party?"
We laughed like a maniac at her expression and question. We were shaking so hard with laughter that we couldn't even answer her. But Kaustu managed to say a no' to her.
"It's not that funny." Vidz snapped and strode down the beach.
We doubled up in laughter and soon we're all laughing our guts out in the cool, blue sea waters.
We swam for all morning and a little part of the afternoon until we're all ravenous. It was the experience in years" swimming in foamy, blue waters and stretching out in the sandy beach with the sun kissing my whole body" just relaxing.
But the water was too cold for my liking. I was literally shivering even though the sun was shining with all its glory. After sometime, however, I begun to enjoy as my skin became comfortable with the cold temperature of the sea water.
After lunch we were all sitting in the boy's room, having an animated discussion about the forthcoming beach party. Suddenly a sharp knock on the door made our head turn towards it.
"Who's there?" Parth asked.
"Room service," the person" whoever he was" answered from the other side of the door.
"Oh...Come in," Parth said.
A hotel staff came in through the door with a nicely decorated plate in his hand. "This is an invitation card for a beach party tonight. Please grace us with your presence." He handed the plate to Jiggy who was sitting just in front of him.
"Thank you," Jiggy said.
The man bowed respectfully and went out, closing the door behind his back.
"Wow." Vidz commented as Jiggy opened the invitation card. "This card is just awesome."
Really! The card was really something to look at with all the intricate golden patterns on the black glossy surface. The letters were printed in a deep golden color which contrasted beautifully with the rich black color of the card. It said:
