CHAPTER- 3

HOPE ALL OUR DREAMS COME TRUE

REY and TAANI

How much ever we develop or think that we are developed and live in a modernized day and modernized country, our thinking and ideologies may change but the fact remains the same that , in few things we are still the same and also will be the same ! This is not to criticize people but the fact is that, we take up all the bad from the west and try to imitate them, rather than taking the good that is being implemented there.

In the same way in Indian marriages, dowry plays a vital role! We do hear many stories that people killing their daughter -in-law /wife for dowry, as there is another side to a coin, there are people who are against dowry and treat their daughter-in-law as their own daughter. Now it's time for Taani, Every Indian girl has to undergo this phase, in their life, be it an arranged /love marriage.

Taani's dad and her uncle, who is close to her dad, are discussing the same.

"So are you all set to satisfy their demands, if any?"Asked her uncle

"Hmm, I need to arrange that, I have some amount ready, but we are yet to know their demands right?"

"I Think they are against all such things" interrupted her mother in between their talk

"Why do you think so?" asked Taani's Father

"I think his father is not such type of guy?"

"What makes you think so? They may ask or they may not, we can never judge them because of their quite nature. Anyways I'm just warning you people to be ready for anything tomorrow , we may never know what will happen and also my sincere advice is do not leave this match at any cost , this will be the best match for her." Concluded her uncle

Her father just nodded his head in anticipation and was lost in his own thoughts, thinking about the pros and cons of to what extent they can go or they cannot go.

Taani who doesn't know all these things was in her own world with Ret and their future, dreaming about how it will be, counting the days when she can again see him, the mere thought of him is sending shivers through her spine.

On the other hand her parents are worried about tomorrows meet with Rey's parents. And the main agenda in it is DOWRY !

Sharon and Swayam

Sharon and Swayam met at their regular spot, she was bursting with excitement, on what happened on the previous night.

Sharon - "Swayam tell me fast what happened yesterday"

Swayam -"Everything went well; there is nothing you need to be worried of, chill baby"

Sharon - "Tell me in full detail Swayam"

Swayam - "Nothing much, we spoke about everything, had a real good time with your bro! You know what I love my brother in law too!" he winked at her cheesily

Sharon - "Oh, I thought you love me, then you cheated upon me" and she continued "Thank God he helped me from not marrying a gay" she made a face at him

Swayam- "OK Shar, now let's leave that" he continued in a serious tone "I need to tell you something"

Sharon - "What" she asked him suspiciously
Swayam- "Actually , Shivam is asking me to come to your house and talk with your parents once , but before that I want to talk with my parents , discuss with them and come to your house along with them , I couldn't tell Shivam this because , he might think I'm back stepping"

Sharon- "But at least come and talk with Mom Swayam"

Swayam- "Yeah, even I want to, but before that, I want my parent's acceptance, suppose if I come now and talk, then what if my parents are against this ,we need to think about everything right?"

Sharon- "What do you mean Swayam?"

Swayam- "Be Practical shar , please , I'm just telling the pros and cons that's it , but it will just take around a week or two before I come up to your parents along with my parents , that's it"

Sharon - "I don't know what to tell Swayam, your wish."

Swayam- "My dear Shar, Trust me!" he pulled her cheeks and continued "SMILEEE"

Taani and Rey

Everyone at Taani's home was busy getting things for Rey's Family, who will be going to their house today. Everyone was tensed, because this will be the final meet and everything's going to be decided today!

So all set for them leave to Rey's place, Rey was incessantly calling Visesh on their whereabouts, and to know their situation. Visesh and Rey turned out to be good buddies in a very less span of time. Taani's family reached Rey's place. Rey's family received everyone with so much of amiability and gentleness. Taani's Mom and Dad were so happy on their thoughtfulness and were very happy for their daughter.

Everyone was seated in the living room and were discussing about all the worldly issues except the topic which needed to be discussed the most. Rey's mom asked Taani's mom to see their house, and took her into the kitchen,

"Is Taani alone at home?" asked Rey's mom

"Ha yes ji" answered Taani's mom

"How is she? Waiting for her to step into our house" told Rey's mom, Taani's mom smiled and couldn't answer anything, any mother's dream would be seeing her children happy and for their bright future, there were no words for her to answer because her daughter is going to get such a sweet mother in law.

Rey's sister Swathi entered into the kitchen who was Pregnant told her mom that, "My son is the first one to see his aunt" told Swathi gently placing a hand on her stomach.

Meanwhile in the living room, all the males are discussing about the possible dates for engagement and marriage.

"Swathi is pregnant so we better have engagement now and after her delivery let's decide upon a marriage date" proposed Rey's father

"Ha ji , as you say , we shall consult a priest and inform you about the dates"

Meanwhile, Rey and Visesh went outside and were having their own little talk

"Visesh, Is she alone at home now?" asked Rey

"Ha yes"

"So she wants to study further?"

"Ha Rey, she wants to study further, she is a merit student"

"Oh that's great so, why don't you let her study?"

"It's my dad's wish, I cannot do anything"

"Oh..." Rey was in a deep thought, which was broken by Swathi's husband

"Hey Visesh hi" he gave him a high-five and asked Rey "Hey where are you man?"
"Nothing, when did you come?" asked Rey

"Just now, uncle told that you were here so came to meet you guys" he turned towards Visesh and asked "So what type of relation do u expect from your sister's husband"

"Well, we should be close enough and best buddies" he said staring at Rey

"You know what we both share such type of relation" Swathi's husband said turning towards Rey

"Great !" Visesh said

Taani's family was all happy and were on cloud nine, they were all happy for one person "TAANI"

Swayam and Sharon

Finally Swayam has revealed about his love to his parents. Indian Parents psychology when their children falls in love is the same old melo-drama we are seeing from the past.

Swayam who is close to his dad, revealed to him that he loves Sharon, and told a lot about Sharon and her family in order to seduce his dad into accepting their marriage.

Swayam's dad listened to every word told by Swayam, and without letting out any word, his father left the place, leaving behind Swayam, who was waiting for a response.

"Dad" he shouted, His father left the place without even looking back at Swayam.

Sharon who was waiting for Swayam's call couldn't wait any longer and dialed his number.

"Hey Swayam, what happened" she shouted into her mouth piece
"Yes dear, told my dad about us, awaiting an response from him"
"He didn't tell anything?"
"Nope not even a single word"

"Swayam ..."Her voice went low

"Sharon, don't worry, this was our initial step, it will take some time for them to accept right? My parents are from traditional background, it takes some time for them to accept; now you don't worry Ok?"

"Love you Swayam"

"I too Love you Sharon"
