Wow, Manreet! This story is so different from your usual ones. The start was very powerful in its depiction of the disgustingly lecherous thoughts of the debauched men whose minds are only centred around their own selfish animal needs against the backdrop of the jubilation and trauma of India's independence.

There is the single-minded selfishness of Shyam and Arnav's father.

In midst of it all is one innocent soul who has absolutely no agency of her life. However, genteel the 'high class' establishment she is in, like a geisha, she is still at the mercy of her patron and it her body and seduction skills that others will live off.

Looking forward to the rest of the story.
