I bookmarked this story on 20th June ... Planning to read it soon. Read chapter - 1 and thats it. I couldn't stop. I used all the spare time I found between my work, chores, a party and many telephone calls to read this story. And, here I am...two and a half days (45chapters+epilogue) later...
Dedeepya ... take a bow 👏. You my dear took one of the most rotting problems in our society, gave it a twist of suspense thriller, kept us hang there, threw in loads of emotional moments and lovely stolen moments between Arnav and Khushi, brought their love to its logical end while serving justice to the victim. it was one hell and heaven of an Entwined tale you wrote. For that, I applaud you. 👏
I grew up on suspense thrillers coz I used to borrow my father's books on the sly way before I was old enough to read the genre. And got hooked big time. So, you can imagine how excited I was to read this story. The opening was one gripping one. And your writing tight. The chapter where Arnav follows doctors instructions to try the unorthodox method for Khushi's recovery was brilliant to say the least.
Then came the unveiling of the characters. The forever runaway Raizada and the Konquering the fears Khushi. Here I understood something about your writing. You dredge out every emotion and feeling that the character is experiencing and feeling meticulously, making the reader feel one with Khushi and Arnav.
Goa night walks - I must admit, I was a bit on the borderline about Khushi's behaviour coz it wouldn't take much to get assaulted for a lone girl on beach in Goa at midnight and its not that she had a gun to protect herself or a knife or even a pepper spray)
Arnav's need to be with Khushi was portrayed very nicely. His efforts to protect her, his frustrations, his need to show and give her all things she had missed were sweet and heartfelt.
Then came the revelation and the pain that was heart twisting. What can I say? I had long suspected that she was sexually assaulted but sex trade...I really love it when writers can address world issues through their writing and you did it. That to me was the best part of this story.
Sex trade is one of the big issues that United Nations looks into but have not been able to make much inroads. All that awareness, laws and punishments haven't stopped the greedy from human trafficking and sex trade. I would like to applaud you on handling a matter as sensitively - with Khushi bravely going before the world to tell her story. That was perfect.
The courts and the ways of law aren't always straight forward. The judgement obviously proved that but you, the writer took law into your hands ...(in your words...your Bollywood fixation paid off)...😆
One need not be educated to be intelligent but an intelligent woman when literate can really make a big difference to the world around. YEs!!! to NYU and the degree and the you kept up the Woman's emancipation by making Khushi go down on the knees and proposing to Arnav...that was super cute but Arnav's speech was cuter 😆
So, before I bore you to death, let me sign off by thanking you for writing such a wonderful, thought provoking story and sharing it with us :)
Cheers
