CHAPTER 8

Arnav entered AR at sharp 9:00am and headed towards his office. He informed his receptionist about khushi's arrival ant to be sent to the conference room.

Khushi arrived AR with great excitement, little did she know what awaited her.

The receptionist directed her towards the conference room. She walked up to the conference room and took a deep breath before knocking on the door.

"May I come in sir?" she asked peeping in.

"Come in." came a harsh voice.

The voice was identical only if she was in her senses.

"Good morning sir." She said in a low tone.

"Good morning." He answered back whirling around in his chair to face her.

"You." Khushi almost shouted in shock. "No Khushi, he is just your illusion. Stop thinking about him." She thought but aloud.

"Miss Gupta, any problem?"

"You." She said again I was not imagining him. "Why are you following me Laad Governor?"

"What the... You can't talk to me like that while standing in my office." He said with gritted teeth.

"This is not your office. This is ASR's office." she said looking at his face which had a devilish smirk. "No way, you are ASR." She spoke pointing her index finger at him.

The smile broadened on his face and shrugged his shoulders as if in approval. "Welcome to AR Designs Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta."

"No way, wait a minute... It was your plan to get me here."

"How can you be a fool Khushi, you should have known by his presence here." As she hits her forehead with her palm. "Hey Devi Maiya kaha faas gaye hum."

"So Khushi... Ready to work or are you going to run away from here also? As that's what you can do best on seeing me."

The statement was a taunt to her and it was enough to trigger khushi's anger.

"Am not running away anywhere." She said looking into his eyes with confidence.

"Good, your work starts tomorrow. Pick your letter for your internship transfer from AFH to here on your way out." As he picked his coat from the chair and walked towards the door. "Be ready to face fire. Welcome to hell." He said before leaving the room.

Khushi stood glued to her place with mixed expressions. She walked out after a few minutes.

Khushi reached home with a bad mood.

"Titaliya what are you..." her words were left hanging as she saw the scene in front of her eyes. "Why are you making jalebis?" came the voice of a shocked buaji (Madhumati)

"Devi Maiya I asked for a small favor and even that you didn't do it for me. Now I'll have to face that Laad Governor everyday and what did he mean by "welcome to hell."She talked to herself.

"Kya? What are you blabbering about and why are you making jalebis?"

Khushi came out of her trance on hearing buaji's voice.

"Hey Devi Maiya, yeh humne kya kar diya?" she said looking at the plate full of jalebis.

"What will I do about you? How does your boss handles this craziness of yours?"

"It's all because of him."

"What?" buaji asked looking at her suspiciously.

"Nothing am going to sleep, wake me at dinner time." She said changing the topic and walked out of the kitchen to her room.

"Hai re Nand Kishore, what will I do about her?" she said shaking her head in a negative manner.

Arnav entered Shantivan to find his family sited in the hall.

"Rani Saiba, you don't need to work in this condition." Shyam spoke.

Arnav stiffened and got tensed on hearing those remarks made by his jijaji.

"What happened Di?" Arnav asked sitting next to his sister.

"Nothing Chote, was just a little tired." Anjali said.

"You should take extra care of yourself in this condition Di." Arnav spoke with an angry tone.

"You are right Chote, but she doesn't listen to us." Nani said.

"That's what I am saying. I can take care of your office work for the time being and you can relax at home." Shyam said.

Everyone smiled on seeing the concern Shyam has for Anjali except Arnav.

"No jijaji, you don't need to worry about that. Everything can be managed and on top you always have to travel to meet your clients." Arnav said with a straight face.

"But Saale sahib what about Rani Saiba, how can she take office stress in this condition?" Shyam spoke again to try his luck.

"Di will remain home and as far as work is concerned, she has a good staff to handle the pressure during her absence and I'm also there to look after everything. Akash can also look after it once he is back from US." Arnav declared marking the end of the conversation.

Arnav walked away as his phone rang while someone sited threw daggers in his direction as his anger rose.

"Yeah Aman." Arnav spoke on the phone.

"Sir you were right. Something big is being planned. Not only one attack but several."

"Be careful and keep updating me frequently." He said ending the call.

"I'm not going to spare you." Arnav spoke with gritted teeth.

Khushi's first day at AR started with a meeting with the other members of AR. The meeting was on the annual fashion show of the year and the theme being Ball party outfits. The meeting lasted for almost two hours. Khushi noted the important points and had carefully listened to everything discussed.

As the meeting ended every one stood up to leave. Khushi also got up to leave when she heard him.

"Miss Gupta."

She turned to face him and waited for him to continue.

"So are you ready... Or you don't know what the Ball Party theme meant?"

As he looked at her from top to bottom.

She was dressed in a pink and green churidar suit, with a small stone matching bindi on her forehead and her hair braided. She wore no makeup like the rest of the female staff. She looked simple but attractive. He had seen many of the male workers staring at her in the morning.

She was shocked was an understatement. How could she be in a fashion field if she didn't know what Ball party meant? She stared at him with eyes wide open and her mouth formed a perfect O'.

"Close your mouth. This week you will work with the designing team for this show and get used to, to their work pattern and get an idea of what is required. So get back to work." He said.

Khushi composes herself, picks her file and walks out controlling her anger. If he wasn't her boss he would have been in great trouble by now. She walked to the room where the designers were having their brief meeting.

The head designer partnered her with one of the girls to make her work easier.

She was a sweet and nice girl and Khushi liked her instantly because of her simplicity.

Riya Sharma was her new friend at AR and they got along from their first meeting.

It was the end of the second week at AR. Khushi got in half an hour before time as she had been doing since the third day of her work. She made her way to the cafeteria to grab a cup of coffee since she would always leave home without breakfast.

She sat at a table lost in some thoughts when she heard someone. She looked up to find Riya sited opposite her.

"Good morning." Riya said with a smile.

"Good morning." Khushi replied back.

"Why do you come so early to office and leave late?" Riya asked curiously.

"Just like that." She answered. "So that I don't have to see that Laad Governor as he never left any chance to taunt me when alone." She thought.

Khushi's mind diverted to the second day of her work when she had collided with Arnav in the parking area and had ended up with in a heated argument with him. Since then she had made sure she didn't cross his path.

"Shall we get to work?" Khushi asked getting up.

As they walked out of the cafeteria there was someone else at the other corner of the same room who was listening to their conversation.

"I very well know the reason behind you coming early and going late. So Khushi Kumari Gupta you have been avoiding me. Let's see for how long."
