Payal s n a difficult situation. When men can go abroad for job studies and whatever reasons leaving their family its sad that women can't. A smart one at that. Feeling confined and trapped. I am happy that akash aquiesed

Very interesting - really not sure where Akash & Payal want to go with this relationship as it seems so full of angst & unpleasant

Like Sandhya ... I too felt really bad for Payal that inspite of having got admission
in her dream university she is in this unhappy state ...
But she has brought it upon herself because had she confided and discussed her
admissions with Aakash right form the beginning things would have been different today ...
as in he would have supported her and infact encouraged her to pursue her dreams ...
once you are in a relationship it is vital to share with your partner every decision which
may affect him too ... and being away from your other half for a whole year is a big thing ...

But then this is the similarity and difference between the two siblings ...
both will strive to achieve their goals but Khushi had the good sense to honour her fathers
wishes by finishing her graduation as he wanted her to and then do what her heart so
desperately desired while Payal on the other hand will follow her desires come what may ...
"No" she finally answered his question, her voice soft but firm and certain.
"I would be miserable and pathetic and sad. But I'd go anyway."

I really wonder if their relationship will stand the test of time and separation ... 😲

Thank you Twiggy ...

You know, you write Arnav-Khushi like a dream, albeit a realistic seeming dream, but I think Payal is your masterpiece!
She might be many things that people may consider unpleasant, her motives may seem selfish, but I relate to her more than any other character! She's who she is! She isn't perfect! She loves, but she will not leave behind everything that makes her her, that makes up her dreams & aspirations for it! If that makes her a bitch, I say, so be it!
Also, I, actually don't understand the problem people have with long-distance relationships! They aren't the easiest, but, sometimes, things work out if you want them to, otherwise, they don't! Here, its hardly for a year! If they are in it for the long haul, anyway, what's the problem with managing that for that small duration!
@Meera30 says it best! Her review of this chapter says, exactly what I want to, so aptly, & so eloquently!
Great chapter @Vgedin-your updates are worth waiting for, truly!

I am sorry for not being very active on this thread ... life has been a little hectic and some stories deserve a proper comment than just saying Nice Update ! Hai na ! 😉 But i have not missed out on reading it !

Akash and Payal seem to be like two sides of the same coin. This was more apparent to me after reading his thoughts on realizing Payal's decision to leave.
There is really no right or wrong here in such a situation ...some one will have to bow down it all depends how one takes this setback ! Its just that this decision is hanging on their heads at a very difficult phase of their relationship ... but if they can survive this they have a strong future else ...
Akash has seen her at her worse ... he has seen it all how much of his love is willing to accept will be the test of time. Honestly i think this distance will help them !

Because I am a Payal shipper, I continue to support her. But after this update, I seem to be feeling a bit off (actually a lot more than that) about Akash.

Sure he is the person that he is and by now it is safe to assume that his set of beliefs are entirely different from Payal's (I am ignoring her way of behaving for obvious reasons), but for me he seems to be the one who is in the wrong.

In conclusion I think that although the duo might have remained cordial by the end of the chapter, it is better for them to part ways. Working things out is one thing and there being nothing that can be worked out is another. For Payash things incline towards the latter.

A word of advice to PAyal. Merely being aware of her faults is not going to be ok; she needs to act upon it. Don't want herself to undergo a transformation, but some modification is only going to work for the better. By the way, I liked that she did not lie about her decision and the reason provided for the same.

Hello Twiggy
First - If I havent said this before, I have to say it now.. and if I did, I want to say it again - YOU ARE A BRILLIANT STORY TELLER and here are the reasons why:
  1. Your characters are perfectly imperfect..and the two that epitomize this are Payal and Akash. Would I be at the receiving end of chappals if I confided that I find Akash-Payal love story far more electric and gripping than.."lets-not-name-them".. :) This is not to say that Arnav and Khushi's story is lukewarm.. no, I wouldn't dare make that judgement.
  2. Your characters are real. Your writing carries honesty in it and that honesty is reflected in the way you have developed both, Akash and Payal.. This honesty, at times brutal to not only to the person at the receiving end, but to the reader as well, is what makes your characters perfectly imperfect. I am quite fond of your Payal - yes, she is not the most popular character here, but she is consistent and honest. Payal's brutish candor and honesty is very comforting to me. If you believe that intent is [sometimes more] important than the method- then Payal's intent is almost always honorable. When she refused to mince words with Arnav - her method was imperfect, but her intent was good - she was saving her friend. Frankly I would rather have Payal as a friend - yes, she is high maintenance, but I know exactly where I stand with her and she will not play polite games with me.
  3. Akash came off as a redeemably insecure lover with a good size ego! Not sure if I liked him today..And the credit goes to you - yes, to you Twiggy!! You let us peek into his psyche today - These lines are just brilliant! This is why he is redeemable in my opinion - Did he? If he were honest with himself, he wasn't sure. That night, he had seen a side of her that he had never witnessed before. He understood that everyone had a fair side and a dark one, but what he had seen that day was sheer viciousness. Perhaps it was a momentary thing, but he hadn't been able to get past it entirely.
  4. This update bore witness to Payal's slow transformation - and frankly this is another important reason why your characters are real and honest. People change and relationships change with them. And you as a writer are able to reveal this to your readers! Right here - you let us peek into Payal's inner most thoughts.. I loved this part.. They had been the worst days of her life, making her curse the moment she fell in love for making her vulnerable to such a miserable state, where for the first time in her life, she couldn't even concentrate on her work. Had her actions been so unforgivable? Her lack of tact so devastating?
I am rooting for this relationship - for these two people who are trying their best to figure a way of loving each other - by being honest with themselves and in the hopes of being honest with each other. Is this the perfect or even the correct way - I, for one, don't believe in one perfect way.. :)

Kudos to you, my writer and story teller friend! Your posts make me think, exercise my grey cells.. and thank you for that.. Thank you for your insights into the frailties of human relationships!
