Part 7- Go Crazy
As soon as school started, preparations for the Fair started with full swing. Everyone could only think about winning. Of course, this was just a friendly competition. After school, Anagd and Vedika were working on their project in the library.
V- Angad, I think, how about we use your family, my family and another students family for the project
A- My family?
V- Yeah, like your parents
A- Oh..um no
V- Why? Wouldn't they want to help you?
A- No
V- Ok, anyway we'll just use my family and my friends family then
A- Ok, I'll get the books on DNA and finger prints
V- Ok
Angad went to get the books.
A- Family….parents…this is all a waste of time
V- Angad hurry up, stop wasting time!
A (laughing)- Sorry.
While Vedika and Anagd were working on their project, Vedika's hair kept coming in front of her eyes.
V- Uff
They kept, working. Vedika's hair went in front of her eye's again and Angad slowly went and pushed it behind her ears. Vedika looked up at Angad, and Angad looked at her. They both started at each other. Vedika looked down quickly.
V- Thanks
A- No problem. Maybe you should keep a hair tie with you. Or you can go bald, which ever works better for you. They laughed and wented back to work. Their project was about finger prints. Their title was "Are finger Prints similar between family members". Angad was using the ink pad for something, then when we went to scratch his cheeks, the ink went on his face. Vedika looked at him and started laughing
A- What?
V-(laughing) Nothing
A- What?
Vedika took out her pocket mirror and showed Angad his face
V- Angad its called finger prints, not face prints.
A- Crap…wait. Let me wipe it off
V- No
A- huh?
V- Wait.
Vedika took out her phone and took a picture of Angad. Then she took atissue paper and wiped off Angads cheek.,
A- Thanks
V- Your welcome, now keep your hands away from your face.
The continued to work. The next day at school, Shazad and Angad were eating lunch.
S- So, hows your project going?
A- Good..I stil think it's a wast eof time though
S- Angad, you think everything is a waste of time.
A- So?
S- Whatever. Dude…I know Meem
A- Yeah
S- You like her?
A- It doesn't matter if I like her…
S- Why not
A- Because, I know you like her
S- Yeah but, what do you think of her?
A- Nothing really
S- Like, she's cute and all. But, she's kinda annoying
A- But do you like her
S- I don't know…anyways, did you hear about the party tonight?
A- Yeah, Amir invited me
S- So, your going right?
A- Are you
S- Yeah, come.
A- Ok, its not like I have anything better to do
S- Exactly
Raj and Kripa were working on their project in the library.
K- Raj?
R- Hm
K- What sond should we use?
R- Im thinking something everyone will like
K- Yeah like…
R- Maybe, since were using kids
K- But, if they really like the music they wont consentrate
R- True…
K- I think
R/K- Classical
They looked at each other, and started laughing.
K- We make such a good team
R- No
K- What?
R- We make a great team
Kripa was laughing. Raj never noticed how pretty Kripa looked when she smiled. To think about it, Raj never noticed Kripa's looks. For him, she was a buddy, and team mate, and maybe some how…a mother to him. But then again, this was the first year after they had gone into high school, that Raj was single. So, this is maybe the first time Raj ever noticed Kripa, in that sense. Raj went back to work.
R- Hey Kripa?
K- Yeah
R- You know there's a perty tonight
K- Yeah, Amir told me
R- So, I was thinking
K- yeah
R- How about we go to together?
Kripa dropped her pen and stopped for a second. Then the quickly went back to working.
K- Sure…
R- Great, so I'll pick you up
K- Ok…Raj…
R- Yeah?
K_ We've been going to every party this year together…you never asked me before, you just called when you were in front of my house. Why the special treatment this time?
R- I don't know..Kripa, do the work properly!
K- Sorry
Kripa looked back at Raj, and smiled.
It was last period, everyone was talking about Amir's party. Meem was sitting reading a book. Shazad came a pulled the book away from her.
S- Books Books Books, is that all you do bookworm
M- Hence the name "BOOKworm
S- Ok, but what else do you do?
M- I don't know
S- I'll tell you…you dance. Well at least tonight yur going to dance
M- What?
S- As you know Amir has a party tonight, as I know you weren't invited…but I want you to come. So you will, with me
M- As you don't know, even if I was invited, I wouldn't come..and Im never ever going to come with you.
S- But..
M- Shazad….thanks, but Im just not into all this. Im happy with my books.
S-Meem you…
The bell rang.
M- Bye
Meem left, Shazad sat for a second, then just rolled his eyes.
S- Where's the Party Tonight.
At the party. Everyonh was having a lot of fun. The music was loud and clear. Everyone was dancing. And, it's a party, so people were drinking, smoking as just living. Kripa, Shazad, Raj, Angad and Vedika all talking.
R- Im loving the party
S- Yeah
K- Ok, guys…it's a party, why are we just standing here?
S- Lets go get drunk
Angad just laughed and looked down
V- I'd rather go dance
A- Lets go then
V- Ok
S- Angad, you don't want to get drunk with us?
A-…..nah
R- Whatever, guys lets go crazy
Angad took Vedika's hand and they went to the dance floor. Angad and Vedika were great dancers, at one point everyone stopped dancing and just stared at them. Raj, Shazad, and Kripa were at the bar. They took shots of Takila. They were all having a lot of fun.
K- lets go dance!
S- Ok
R- Lets go!!
They went to the dance floor and everyone was dancing. Kripa was a born dancer, she was the head the their schools dance team, and everyone knew there was no one better then her. Everyone was having a blast. Great music, great company, Great evening.
Vedika got a call from home, so she went outside. Angad went with her.
V- Yeah mama. Don't worry, I'll come right now. I love you. Bye.
A- Is everything ok?
V- Yeah, its just. My family made a plan of going to my relatives house in Washington tomorrow, so I have to go home and pack.
A- Oh, ok. You need a lift.
V- That's sweet Angad, but I have my car.
A- Ok
V- Thanks for staying with me, sorry I kept you from your friends
A- No, its fine. Im not really into drinking and all
V- Same here…but you're a great dance partner
A- So are you.
V- Bye
A- Bye, drive safe
Vedika and Angad hugged, then Vedika left in her car. Angad watch until Vedika made her turn, he sighed and went back in. He was looking around the place, and went up stairs.
On the dance floor, Kripa and Raj were dancing. They got very close. Although there was so much noise, Kripa could still hear Raj breathing. Raj could still hear Kripa. After a point, they forgot they were in a party. Maybe it wasn't them, maybe it was the Takila.
Raj touched Kripa's cheeks, brushing the hair away. Kripa looked at Raj, even though it was dark in the room, Kripa could still see Raj's eyes looking at her. Raj was about to kiss Kripa. She backed away, but Raj pulled her back. Slowly they kissed. Suddenly, the music blasted, and they pulled away. Kripa looked at Raj, and Raj looked at Kripa.Raj looked around, but everyone was just into their dancing. When he looked back,Kripa was gone.
S- Dude, did you just kiss Krips?
R- I need a smoke…wanna come with me
S- Sure bro
They went outside, to smoke and talk. Kripa went upstairs jst to wash up. She sae Angad sitting on a chair in a room watchng tv.
K- Hey
A- Oh hey
K- What are you doing here? Where's Vedika? Oh, wait are you here with her?
A- No she left
K- Ok
Kripa came in, she sat next to him.
K- Whats up?
A- I don't, Vedika had to go, and I just got bored
K- Try getting drunk, it helps
A- You should know
K- it's a party yaar, if you dotn have fun it in, why are you here?
A- I don't know, I guess drinking and smoking is just a been there done that kind of a thing for me
K- Really?
A- Yeah…I've been there…a lot. So, it isn't really a big thing for me, I really don't care for it.
K- And…
A- And Vedika isn't into drinking, I didn't want to leave her alone
K- Oh that's so sweet.
A- Yeah..I like her
K- I know, I saw. You two ripped the dance floor
A (laughing) - What about you?
K- Nothing much…I kissed Raj
A- WOW!
K- Yeah, and I think that he asked me out
A- To the party?
K- Yeah
A- So? What do you think
K- Well….what should I think?
A- I think…hey you wants chips?
K- Yeah
Angad handed Kripa te bag of "Lays" that he got from down stairs. Kripa and Anagd watched TV and ate chips. And talked…
The party ended and Shzad was still outside, Raj went inside. Shazad was really drunk. He was playing with his phone, and suddenly called someone.
S- Hell…hello?
M- Shazad?
S- Hi Meem!!
M- Shazad? Why are you calling me? Are you ok?
S- I like Takila
Meem rolled her eyes, and spoke sternly.
M- Shazad, go home…or someplace else. And please, don't call me when yu drunk..if you can, don't call me at all.
Meem hanged up, and sighed.
M- Why do I tolerate you? How can I like you?….But I do.
Shazad put his phone down. He looked at the floor. Raj came outside with two glasses.
R- Drink?
Shazad looked at it. He remembered Meem.
S- No Thanks…I think Im gonna go
R- Where?
S (laughing) - Home…or someplace else.
R- You sure?
S- Yeah.
R- Bye bro. Give me a call when you get home
S- Why?
R- You're my kid, Im gonna be worried about you
S- I love you bro
R- Same here son
The hugged and Shazad left. Raj went inside. Angad came down stairs, and saw Raj.
R- Hey you..you boy. I forgot your name.
A- Angad, its Angad brother
R- Right Angad
A- Look, Krip akinda passed out up stairs so
Amir- don't worry about it
A- what?
Am- Don't worry, it's a rules around here. In parties everyone gets drunk, so who ever's throwing ht party lets them stay over the night. Well, that's what I do atleast.
R- Kripa, Im am coming! Up Up and AWAY
A- Calm down Superman..lets go
Am- You can stay too
A-No thanks, I'll just take him up stairs
Am- Ok, bye
A- bye
Angad took Raj up stairs and put him next to Kripa of the sofa.
A- Good night
R- Ok mommy
K- Shut-up, you silly boys. Let me sleep.
A- Kripa does your parents know…
K- my parents don't care.
A- Ok
Angad didn't want to leave his friends here alone, but then again..staying would just be a waste of time. And, his Bua would kill him…and that would waste a lot of time. So he tucked them in, and left.
Raj and Kripa were just sleeping next to each other…
