First of all thank you reading, liking and commenting on this you didnt have to but you did, and that counts for a lot, so really, thank you!
This story could have easily been fleshed out if I had decided to explore Khushi's plight, or Arnav and Khushi's journey towards love, but for me the story was never about that, it was always about Arnav meeting his happiness figuratively and literally, and I hope I was able to portray that. I wanted to meet Arnav at different points in this phase of his life and explore his emotions and thoughts relating to someone he holds very close to his heart. His love was unconditional when it came to his Khushi, because that is what true friendship is, as for the discovery of love in a romantic sense, it was always there, but it took him a while to realise it. Sometimes it can take just one conversation or one look from another and you begin to see that person in a new light there is always a right time and place for everything, this was their time. Arnav and Khushi have known each other since they were children, they know everything about each other, and so a change in their relationship is simply never considered, as what they have is too precious to share in any other light. And it is with this level of comfort that Arnav holds a sense of proprietorship towards Khushi, she is in every sense his happiness. They have always been so close that the two beings could readily merge into one; they are in every sense each other's, always have been, and always will be. With this thought you may consider why I never explored Khushi's perspective even once in this story, this is because this wasn't her story, it was her Arnav's.Khushi has a story of her own, she has a happy childhood and a perfect romance, with a perfect marriage, and suddenly everything is lost, the only dependable anchor she feels she has is her childhood friend who truly understands her. If I began to try and portray Khushi's side of the story then I feel I would have lost track of what this story was intended to be about. And so I kept Khushi almost detached from the story. You saw her pain, and her metamorphosis through the eyes of her family and best friend, you painted a Khushi you wanted to see in your minds based on what the family members and Arnav were telling you. I wanted the family member's perspective because I wanted the readers to feel like they too are a family member rooting for their beloved Arnav and Khushi, willing them to find each other. The family perspectives were purposely placed in a different timeline as I believe that hindsight is a beautiful thing; it can help you see with clarity something which is lost in the present.
Something which I feel perhaps annoyed you is the fact that I never once explored any conversation between our two central protagonists. Arnav and Khushi's relationship is impenetrable, it's rare and so we can never begin to fully understand the purity and strength of it, these two can speak intimately with their eyes and therefore any actual conversation between the two, frankly felt too private to intrude upon, hence why I didn't. Many wanted to know what Arnav told Khushi in the park in the third update; in my mind, they had a conversation about a childhood game so many of us have played, the moral of being lost and finding in each other struck a chord with Khushi that day that led her to shed some of the depression that weighed heavily on her fragile shoulders.
As for the seasons, autumn as beautiful as it is signifies death, spring a new beginning and summer always holds a sense of romanticism, does it not? I hope that this story has lived up to your expectations, and I'm sorry if you think it is too short, but this is the way I saw this going when I was politely coerced into making this OS into a short story! Finally if you have any questions please do ask and I will be happy to answer them.
