CHAPTER 43:

Ar: reopen Aryan Varma case file. That's the only thing I can do for Baba. Unhe insaaf do.

Sam: baba told me about Aryan. Kya hua tha?

Ar: I am not sure about the whole matter. Sakshi have some information. Lagtha hai, Mumbai police did a mistake in his case.

Sam: ok, I'll see to it.

By then Aisha knocks and walks in with Aman and Sakshi. She could read that the air was less dense now.

Ai: did we disturb you?

Sam: no. its fine.

Ai: good.

Sam: hum 11 baje ke flight me wapas jarahe hai.

Sak: Aisha, do you have everything that you need? I mean...hum kafi jaldi nikli thi na...so did you pack well?

Ai: hm... kuch kuch tho hai.

Sam: then why don't you come with us? Jo chahe lelo... aur fir wapas aajao.

Ai: par...

Sak: he is right. 2-3 hours ke trip hai. pack karke, sham ke flight me wapas asakthi ho. agar nahi hai tho... mein jaake pack karke bhejthi hu.

Aisha didn't know what to say. She definitely needed some items. But it would be tough for Sakshi to pin point those and bring down to her.

Aisha thinks again and then agrees.

Sam: ok, in that case mien ek aur ticket ke intezaam kartha hu. Let's make it fast.

He briefly looks at Arjun, meaning our talks are not over' and leaves.

Ai: ok... mien zara baba se milke ayi. Sakshi I need your help.

Sak: ya sure.

They leave the room. Sakshi had experience staying here. She wanted to know if there was anything particular that she should take care of.

That left Aman with Arjun. Aman has not met Arjun formally till now.

Arj: hai. Aman... right?

Am: ya...

They shake hands and he takes seat in a chair nearby.

Am: we have not met yet officially.

Ar: ya, but I know you.

Am: I know. Sakshi told me.

Ar: hm... so hows it at office?

Am: it was tough.

Ar: kyu?

Am: kyunki, waha already ek second in command tha. And it took some time to get a little space for me.

Ar: I didn't get you Aman.

Am: maana.. ke aap waha nahi tha, but you were always there. Sabke dilonme. Aur ek naya member banke aapke jagah lena... it was damn tough. I never went to take your position. Because I could never do that. Jo jagah apke hai, wo apke hi rahenge.

Arjun smiles at him.

Ar: aisa kuch nahi hai Aman. Halaath ke sath badalna hoga. Sabko. It may be tough, but we have to. Aur waise bhi, ab thak tum apne jagah bana chuke hoge.

Am: yes I have. But we are still waiting for you Arjun. Pure team aur mien bhi, I never got a chance to know you, and I would love to.

Ar: I should say that it won't be pleasant.

Am: and who wants it to be pleasant?

It was easy to get along with this guy, as if he had known him for ages.

Ar: it will take time Aman. I don't know when...

Am: please Arjun. Never let your hopes down, especially infront of those who actually care for you. Rathod aur Aisha ko meine dekha hai. Even Sree, Liza and Chotu. It's a complete family type bonding. And trust me, they do miss you.

Ar: I know. And I miss them too.

Am: hm... waise manna padega... you are a real lucky man. Aisha jaisi wife, naseeb walonko hi miltha hai.

Ar: hum bohot lucky the Aman. Shayad isliye hamare khushiyonke beech ye reality check aya... 2 saal ke.

Am: hm... 2 years. I just can't imagine that.

Ar: me too.

Am: actually I knew Aisha before... as Nadiya. Jiss waqt wo undercover thi, mien bhi wahi tha. I should confess, I did have a small crush on her back then.

Arjun smiled at his honesty. "I hope wo tumhare taang nahi thoda tha"

Am: well.. almost. Hamesha dur raho' kehke bhaga dethi thi. Fir wo ekdum gayab hogayi. I never knew then I would meet her in another avatar.

Ar: hm... ETF wali Aisha is really different.

Am: nahi Arjun. Actually I saw her in Alahabad. And I seriously wish ke mien ab kabhi bhi usse uss haal me na dekhu.

Arjun had heard about that location from Sakshi. But he didn't know the details.

Ar: matlab?

Aman at once knew he had spoken a bit more than needed. Arjun was unaware of her excile life.

Am: wo...

Ar: please Aman. I did hurt her. And I want to know to what extend.

Am: wo waha ek dance teacher thi... shayad. I saw her... wo kaafi upset thi.

Arjun goes silent.

Ar: I wish I was there. Be by her side back then.

Am: I know. But its good that you never saw her back then.

Ar: you remember her well it seems.

Am: uss waqt wo mere liye Nadiya thi. Aur uske kuch pictures bhi mere paas...

Arjun looks a bit suspicious.

Am: well... I swear I didn't mean any harm. And I promise to give it back to you. (smiling) please goli math chalana...

Arjun laughs at it.

Ar: its ok. So you have passion in photography.

Am: ya...

Ar: I would like to see those pics.

Am: I will mail you.

Ar: thanks.

Am: par uske baad mujhe jhatka hi jhatka tha. Pehle uske ETF me entry... fir... Mrs. Rawte... OMG... it was too much for me.

Ar: so sad...

Arjun smiled at Aman's expressions.

Am: but then I knew... I would never ever get to know Nadiya. Because aise koi thi hi nahi. I saw her love for you in her eyes. And again I would say... you are really lucky.

Ar: thanks.

Aisha knocks and walks in.

Ai: flight 11 ko hai. Sam keh rahe hai ke by 10, we should leave.

Am: ok.. you get ready.

He shakes hands again with Arjun and leaves quickly.

Aisha was still not in a mind to go. She sits by his side.

Ar: kya hua?

Ai: jaana zaroori hai. I'll be back soon.

Ar: ye mujhse keh rahi ho ya... apne apse?

Ai: Arjun... you will be fine na? I'll be back by late night.

Ar: I'll be fine. bas jaldi ajaana. Ab akela rehna mushkil hai.

Ai: I know.

She looks with a gloomy eye to him and then leans on to his chest.

He pecks her forehead and moves her up. "jao... its already getting late"

She reluctantly gets up. Fresh up and then arrange her hand bag. It was time. Sameer, Sakshi and Aman reach his room.

sak: apna khayal rakhna. And for a change... call karna.

Ar: Sakshi!!

Am: bye Arjun. see you soon.

Ar: bye.

But Sam doesn't say anything.

Ar: bye Sam.

Sam just nods and walks out followed by Sakshi and Aman. Aisha comes closer to him and wish him bye.

"I'll be back soon."

"hm..." that was all that he could say. 2 years he had missed her and now she was leaving for a half day. And he has already started to miss her.

The flight back to Mumbai was in complete silence. Others could see her eyes. It already betrayed her heart.

And back at the Sneh Bhavan, he was already reciprocating his feelings. He could not imagine the situation if she had never found him. He would have been left half dead, so was she.

At Mumbai airport, the trio came to receive them. Aisha got a warm welcome back as they knew that she would need it. She was eager to go home and pack her things. Sakshi went with her for help.

All the necessary dress, other items, some of Arjun's personal items including his laptop and so on... the list was big. It took almost an hour to complete settling.

It was truly a feel of going back home.

Home was where the heart dwells.

With her packed bags she reached the office. Sam had already seen to her long leave. But then an unexpected guest arrived, Raghu Sir.

Sam: sir... aap yaha?

His tone was not so happy.

Ra: mien yaha mafi mangne aya hu. I know that I should have told you before, but then...

Ai:its ok sir.its over. Ab hum waha kuch nahi kar sakthe. So let it be.

Rag: thanks Aisha. Par Rathod...

Sam: galthi sabse hui hai sir. So iss sorry sabkuch bhool sakthe hai.

Raghu was pleased with what he heard. He enquires about everything back down there. Sameer explains all. After some time Raghu leaves. Sameer and Aman also retires to their cabins.

Ai: flight kab hai?

Sr: relax Aisha. I already told you, it's at 6 pm.

Ai: but abhi bhi bohot time baki hai.

Li: sorry yaar. Hum flight schedule nahi karthe.

Ai:Liza..

Sr:hey Aisha... uss Akdu Rawte ko waha rehne do. Kisika wait karna kithna mushkil hai... unhe bhi patha hone do.

Ai:aise math kaho yaar. Even he...

That lightened everything. Later she moved aside and called him. And on the other end he was waiting for the call too.

The wait was tiring. At last Lord was mercifull and she was in her flight back to him. Every moment she could feel closer to him. It was similar to that feeling that she used to have when she missed him. But this time with a change. She did know he was there back in his room waiting for her to return.

It was after dinner time that she would come. He waited eagerly. He tried to speak to Baba to let him wait for her and then have the dinner. Upon insistence he had to take food and his medicines. Eyes were getting droopy but he tried to keep it open. But he couldn't.

Baba had sent a car for her. She reached in no time.

Ba: wo so gaya hai. Khana khane ka naam hi nahi keraha tha. Kafi mehnat karna pada.

Ai: sorry baba. Aaj se mien sambhal dunga.

Ba: aao khana khake jao.

Ai: mujhe bhoog nahi...

Ba: chup chap khana khalo. Don't make me force you too.

She smiled at the gentle fatherly figure. She quickly gulped a few morcel of food and was about to go in.

Ba: ek minute Aisha.there is something ineed to tell you.

Ai: ji kahiye.

Ba: kal sabere mien uske physiotherapy session firse shuru kar raha hai. Its actually the ayurvedic practice of massaging and some more. Unke legs me sensation hai. Ab dheere dheere thakath lana hoga. Its not only going to make him stand up, but also brings back his lost confidence. Dard kafi hoga. I need your help.

Ai: I will help.

Next morning he woke up and saw her by his side. He didn't know when she came back. It was great to have her back. She felt his hands on her hair and woke up.

Ai: good morning.

Ar: kab ayi?

Ai: raath hogayi thi. Aap sorahe the. isliye nahi bulaya.

Ar: good to see you back.

Ai: I know.

Stayed there itself for a while and then got up with a start. "oh no... Baba ne kaha tha ke aaj apke physiotherapy session hai. We need to be ready soon."

Ar: we?

Ai: haan. Mien bhi hogi waha.

Ar: nahi Aisha. Don't come that time. I'll be fine.

Ai: kyu?

He didn't want her to see him in pain. It was a tiring exercise for him last time.

Ai: don't worry. I'll be there. Ab fresh hothe hai aur breakfast karthe hai. I'm starving.

She tried to act normal though she was worried inside. After breakfast and rest baba comes with the special oil for his massage. As usual a sheet was placed below his legs to avoid the oil reaching his bed. She was getting more worried and just sat by his side. He held her hands as he knew what was coming up.

Baba said a silent prayer and started his massage. At first it was slow strokes and gentle movement. She felt his hold tight on her hand and his eyes were closed. Soon the massage movement went harder. There was wincing on his face. She strokes his forehead. "its ok... it will be fine"

Baba tried to move his legs, bending it and so on. He wanted the blood circulation well on his legs.

After a tiring 40 minutes, Arjun was left sweety and panting. Baba nodded her to take care and left the room.

Ai: Arjun...

Her voice did have a slight hint of crack. She cursed herself for that.

Ar: miene kaha tha na... don't be here...

Ai: kyu nahi? I am here and I wil be here.

He opens his tired eyes to her.

Ai: we are together here Arjun. Aur har kadam me tum mujhe paoge. We will take this step together.

Ar: Aisha meine...

Ai: sh... meine kaha na... aap mujhe ab aur nahi bhaga sakthe. I will have you back Arjun and trust me, when I want something I'll get it. Iss bar mere zidd hai... ke hamare zindagi ab bilkul pehle jaise hoge. We will move ahead. Hard times har kisike zindagi me hothi hai. We too had its share. Ab bas... aur nahi. Samjhe?

Arjun nods yes teary again. She wipes it off.

Ai: ye aasu aapme suit nahi karthe ACP Rawte. Isme gussa ya pyaar hi ache lagthe hai.

He smiles at that. She holds his hands in her palms tight and held it close to her heart... it was a promise of her being there.
