The way you describe the workings of the Ministry is what I find most absorbing… at least, they are getting some work done unlike in the show, where Arnav just sat in front of his laptop, barked orders into his phone or walked around with a file! How quickly Arnav realised Khushi is indispensable, and is bothered by it! But as he got to know more about the political scenario, he somehow doubted that he would find someone who had her particular combination of honesty and intelligence, all backed by an exhaustive knowledge of his ministry… nice to see that he doesn't shirk from giving her her due, even if it is only in his thoughts. Arnav's dilemma is fascinating: should he give in to his respect and admiration for Khushi or wallow in a past that he has to struggle to recall? It's almost like Arnav has to force himself to hate Khushi… each time he has a convo with his Nani, he recalls the past and then allows his anger towards Khushi to overcome him! Each update leaves us with more unanswered questions about that past and also with our imaginations running riot! I can understand Khushi's disillusionment with the way things went on in her department and ministry… one is always pretty idealistic when one starts a new job but, more often than not, one ends up adapting to or compromising with the existing circumstances… I face the same with the school system in India!
Khushi admiring Arnav for his work ethics and his drive, thus making the necessary changes she had hoped for is nice step forward in their equation. One whole committee had been restructured in just one week, and the other secretaries looked upon her with surprise and respect… I would have thought this would have given rise to petty jealousies! He had entered this place like the rays of sunshine behind him, dispelling the gloom of neglect and apathy that she had been trying to fight for years... The bureaucrat turning into a poet is a nice change! Their little sparring match with regard to DR. Shyam Manohar Jha was a nice change from the usual tension between them. Both, to no avail, trying to ignore the physical attraction brewing between them is fascinating. "I want results, Ms.Gupta. That's all I care about." He should start caring about the humans involved, too… both Arnav and Khushi are so keen to show the other that they can cope with anything, that they are ignoring the emotional and physical toll it taking on them… how long before the breakdown? A pale crescent moon had risen in the sky behind her, and he thought about how similar they were. She was cool, calm and collected, and always brought a serenity with her. She was also distant, in many ways. Remote... Well, poetry seems catching… now the honourable minister is at it! He clenched his fist, and punched the seat in front of him… wonder what his driver's reaction was to that!
Arnav not wanting to waste public funds on a needless trip is a welcome change! My dad used to work for the Ministry of External Affairs and has worked at various embassies… according to him, our ministers expected freebies and diplomatic treatment not only for themselves but also for their family members! Go figure! Can't wait for Tuesday to learn what Arnav's condition is! Is he going to 'blackmail' Khushi into accompanying him?
