Hello NBji!
Surprised? ;) I didn't want to say anything about catching up with Parinay because I have promised and failed to deliver a few too many times! But I was determined to catch up this week and post on the last chapter, at the very least, and if it weren't for the impromptu family trip, this comment would have come yesterday! Enough of that, now for the fun stuff.
I always have a philosophy that characters make a story, plot comes second. Because if you can develop your characters well, even the most simplest of plot will flow wonderfully and become a masterpiece. Parinay is one such story. I am not saying the plot was simple, it was anything but, but it was complicated because of the characters, their actions, their regrets, their pain, their hurt, their joy, and most importantly, their choices.
Arnav - What can I say about the arc this character has taken? About the transformation he went through from the man who was breaking every promise he made to the man who held onto one promise to change his life around? His determination to be the best man he possibly could be, to deserve Khushi, was heart warming. In my last comment, I mentioned that he didn't deserve either woman, I am glad to see that he proved me wrong! The compromises he made, the stand he took from leaving AR and Shantivan, to fighting for/with Khushi to gain them another chance! And through the ups and downs, he never reverted back to the man he was, and for that I commend him and you, for creating a character like him.
Khushi - She was a great representation of what a woman should aim to be. She's headstrong, believes in herself, isn't afraid to fight for what she believes in, and most of all, isn't afraid to take chances. I loved that she walked away, I loved that she made them suffer, I loved that she forgave, I loved that she was hesitant, I loved that she fought to get what she deserved and nothing less, I love that she held out for the love marriage she always dreamed of having, and most of all, I love that she got her wish fulfilled!
Lavanya - Her character took an arc too...twice. From the girl that hated Arnav for the wrong he had done to her, to the girl that threw herself at him because of her lonliness, to the girl that was well on her way to being a great role model. Thanks for bringing awareness to the horrors women in Africa have to go through. Even though La wasn't in the story for the most part, her presence was always there, and that's a great way of using a character potential.
Aakash - I do love you Aakash! I loved the he was the confidant Khushi had, and to fight with his own brother and family for her was absolutely amazing. Again, a character that wasn't around for long, but had a very big impact on the story.
Payal - I found her character quite interesting. She was the bridge between Khushi's life before and after marriage, and even though she pushed Khushi into something without knowing all the facts, I quite liked the fact that she learned from her mistakes and didn't pursue the same path the second time around.
Anjali - Again, a very interesting character. She has her faults, like thinking that she knew best and could decided what was right for two people about to enter into a marriage. But then again, she did learn from her mistakes, and tried to make it right by explaining to Khushi. I liked that she owned up to her mistakes!
Nani - I loved loved LOVED the chapter you wrote about Arnav and her, it was a complex relationship that got strained under two extremely stubborn people. I realize that she did what she did out of love, and Arnav would never be able to let go of the guilt that he didn't speak to her before she died, but that's the sad fact about anger, isn't it? It robs us of the memories, the precious ones, when it takes over us, and when we realize that the anger isn't worth it, it might be too late.
Sharanya - What a great friend! Fiercely protective, but not someone who holds back when she knows that her friend is in the wrong. It was wonderful to see that Khushi had lost a family for those 2 years, but had gained a brilliant friend who is no less than a family member! Especially loved the scene where she tells K that Arnav has his faults, but paying the fees wasn't one of them!
And the plot and writing itself was brilliantly done! Kept me on the edge of the seat until the end!
I don't know if you remember, but I said in the previous comment that I would be really interested to see how A would convince K that he loves her! Well, brilliantly done!
I loved all the ups and downs and all arounds! With boomerang, I hope to be on the roller-coaster with the rest of them.
