Part 6
She stared at him without so much as blinking. She knew he would come back and here he was in front of her. She wanted to scream, to tell everyone that she was right all along. They called her crazy, admitted her to a mental hospital- just because she listened to her heart. He was here now.
Suddenly she realized that her husband too probably thinks that she is crazy- afterall the doctors diagnosed her as a mental patient already. Would he accept her back in his life? Was she doomed to stay in that repulsive place for life? She decided that if he didn't want her back she might as well just stay in the mental institute.
But right now nothing else mattered to her. She didn't care if he wanted to be with her or not, she didn't care what he thought of her condition, hell she didn't care if the whole world thought she was crazy- all she cared about was that he is alive and in front of her. As long as he lived she could too. If somewhere his heart is beating, hers would too.
He waited calmly for her to get her thought together. It was excruciating for him to stand in the doorway and wait for her to react when all he wanted to do was to hold her in his arms. He stood still letting her calm down and come to him. He watched her expression changing by the minute. She was happy first then self-conscious then sad and finally happy again. His Manvi would have run to him and told him how much she missed him but here she was gauging the situation.
After a month long training Virat returned home. He wanted to surprise Manvi so he didn't tell her that he was coming home.
He searched the whole house but she was not home and his parents weren't around either. "Sam where is Manvi and others?" He asked one of the servants.
"Sir you are back!" "Manvi ma'am and Vanshika ma'am are at the temple and sir is in his office."
Virat sat in the living room and waited for his wife. After about an hour both Manvi and Vanshika came home to find Virat in the drawing room.
"Virattt." To his surprise she screamed and ran towards him. She hugged him and kept talking, "Why didn't you tell me that you were coming back today. Oh Virat I missed you so much. You have no idea. And."
"Shh Manvi my ears are ringing from your nonstop blabber. Calm down." He teased her but she ignored him and happily hugged him again. "I missed you so much. I love you."
"I love you more baby." He said pulling her closer.
"Ahem ahem." Vanshika stepped in between to remind the love birds that they were in the hall.
"You are back." She asked not bothering to either hide or wipe of her tears.
He cautiously walked towards her and wiped her tears, "I am sweetheart. I'm so sorry that I didn't come sooner."
She shook her head, "Doesn't matter. You are here now. Don't ever leave Virat. I can't live without you." Her words did it for him and he couldn't control his feelings anymore. He hugged her petite body, lifting her feet off the ground, "Never baby never. I can't live without you either. Lets get you home now."
He was about to move away when she held his hand, "No don't go please." He just came back and finally her heart was settling down but watching him walk away she felt a pang of sadness again.
He wiped her tears and assured her, "I'm right here baby. I will just go talk to the doctor and take you home."
She wasn't willing to let him go. She hugged him again, "No don't leave me. I can't take it again. Don't go."
He nodded and stayed with her until she fell asleep. It felt so right, holding her in his arms, so close, he felt alive again. All those months in a hostage camp, thoughts of her was what had kept him alive. He shivered thinking about what would have happened to her if he hadn't made it back. The very thought scared him and he pulled her close. She was with him now but her last email still haunted him, 'life without you is not worth living and I'm losing this battle with life. I don't know how long I will be able to hold on anymore.' He pulled her closer and brushed her hair off her head. "You will be fine baby. I'm here now and no one can take you away from me. I love you so much." He whispered and kissed her hands.
Kissing her forehead he laid her on the bed and walked towards the doctor's cabin.

"Mr. Vadhera I understand you want to take your wife home but we can't let her go until we are positive that she won't hurt herself or anyone else. You have to understand that there are certain protocols we have to follow with a mental patient."
"First of all she is not a mental patient. Secondly she is my wife and I don't want her to stay here. I will take care of her and make sure that she gets better soon." He told the doctor angrily.
Right then a nurse walked in hurriedly. "Doctor Mrs. Vadhera."
Both the doctor and Virat hurried to Manvi's room. Two other nurses were holding her hands and she was pleading them to let her go. The doctor took a syringe and walked towards her while she pleaded, "No please I don't like it. Please it hurts."
His heart broke into million pieces when he saw her struggling and screaming for help. The nurses held her hands tightly and the doctor was going to inject something in her that is when Virat lost his cool. His insides were burning with anger, how the hell could they treat her like that! Is that how they have been treating her ever since news of his death came out!?
***********************************************************************************
When she got up and didn't see him she panicked. Maybe it was just a dream and he wasn't there at all or maybe he didn't want to be with her anymore. She started looking around for him, why did he leave her again? A nurse walked in to give her medicine. "No I don't want it. Where is Virat?" She yelled.
Right then another nurse walked in, "She is talking about her dead husband again."
"He is not dead." She cried and tried to run away from there but they caught her. She tried to free herself from their grasp but she couldn't. She cried for help, where was Virat, why did he leave her.
"No please I don't like it. It hurts." She pleaded and the next thing she knew Virat was there.
"Stop right now." Virat yelled and walked towards her. "Leave her hands right now." He said with pure hatred. The nurses immediately left her hand and walked back.
As soon as she saw him she clung to him and he wrapped his arms around her protectively.
"Mr. Vadhera please let us do our job." The doctor ordered but Virat was having none of it.
Pointing his finger towards the doctor he threatened, "Now you listen to me carefully, she is fine. She doesn't need you to inject anything in her. You come one step closer to my wife and you will not see daylight. Get out."
"Hey shush I'm here. No one will come near you. Shush." He tried to calm her down but she still clung onto him. "I'm not crazy Virat. I'm not." She said with teary eyes.
He cupped her face and looking into her eyes he replied, "I know."
He pulled her closer and kissed her hair. "I'm sorry baby I'm so sorry."
He carried her in in his arms and laid her on the bed.

PART 7
It took almost a week for Virat to convince the doctors and get Manvi discharged from the mental institute. In that week, the hospital became his second home and he didn't leave her side even for a minute. She was distant and cold towards him but he didn't care. He understood her better than anybody else and he acknowledged the fact that she would need time to recover. She was hurt, he had hurt her too much and now he was set to bring his old Manvi back.
"Sweetheart it is time to go home." He said excitedly but she didn't react. She looked at him indifferently and started packing her clothes. He held her hands and kissed it softly, "Allow me." He gently made her sit on the bed and packed her clothes.
He placed a beautiful pendant around her neck while she stared at him lovingly through the mirror. He kissed her neck and whispered, "It looks lovely on you baby. Don't ever take it off." She looked away, smiling, and nodded her head. She admired the pendant, it was beautiful and the small diamond on it added to its beauty. As if he read her mind he said, "Not as gorgeous as you sweetheart."
She turned around and lightly brushed her lips with his, "Thank you." He was about to say something but she placed her index finger on his lips. "What is the occasion?" she questioned raising her eyebrows.
He wrapped his arms around her petite waist and pulled her closer. Tracing her jawline and neck with his lips he spoke slowly, "I want you to wear this always. It will remind you of me when I'm away."
She blushed deeply seeing her passionate husband. He kept kissing her and traced her back with his fingers which took her breath away. "I d d don't n need a locket to r remind me of y y you." She stuttered.
He laughed at her reaction and kissed her lips passionately. "Of course you don't. Humor me please and wear it."
She nodded and responded to his kiss as passionately if not more.
He traced the abandoned locket and looked at her. She was lost in her own world whilst staring out the window. Why are you so distant baby? How do I bring you back? He looked at the locket one last time before putting it in his pocket.
"Manvi." He called but she didn't hear him. He put his arm around her shoulder which made her shudder. "Lets go?"
She nodded her head and moved away from him. He watched her stand in the doorway waiting for him. He found his resolve weakening. How was he supposed to bring her back if she wasn't willing to let him in, why was she so distant?
On the way back she didn't speak a word so he decided to break the silence. "Are you happy to go back?"
No answer. He asked again, "Manvi are you happy to go back?"
She looked at him with a blank expression so he asked again, "Are you happy to go back?"
Finally she understood that he was talking to her. She thought for few seconds before nodding her head and again she looked out of the window, lost in her own world.
Both Vanshika and Varun were elated; afterall their children would be home soon. They stood in the doorway ready to welcome Virat and Manvi. All this while guilt was killing them inside and now they were relieved that Virat was bringing their daughter-in-law home, where she belonged.
Vanshika stared at Manvi, she wanted to hug Manvi and apologize but Virat had warned her against doing anything that might make Manvi uncomfortable or emotional. Controlling her emotions she caressed Manvi's cheeks and whispered, "Welcome home beta. We missed you."
For a minute Manvi had tears in her eyes and she flung herself at Vanshika, hugging her tightly. Her reaction surprised Virat. She was indifferent towards him, only him! "Ma I missed you too." She whispered and wept while Vanshika stroked her back to calm her down.
He couldn't understand her any longer. Why was she doing this to him? She barely acknowledged his presence but she was readily hugging his mom. He felt like his worst fears were coming true; he hurt her too much and now she didn't want him.
Days passed by but nothing changed. They were together yet far away. She maintained her distance from him but he never gave up. She was normal with everyone else but him and it was killing him inside.
Manvi's Point Of View
She had everything that she could ever ask for, her family, her home and most importantly her husband. No matter how hard she tried she could not forget the past and she could not move on. Being admitted to a mental institute was a low point for her and she hit her rock bottom when she saw her husband at the mental institute trying to calm her down. She didn't know what he thought of her but one thing she knew was that everything must have changed for him once he saw her in that state. Who would want a psycho wife? She knew it was only sympathy that kept him with her. He told her numerous times that he loved her as much as she loved him but she couldn't believe it, she couldn't trust herself any more. Her self-esteem was at its lowest and all she saw in his eyes was pity for her.
She decided she would ignore him for as long as she could. She accepted that it was only a matter of time till he left her. She was scared that this time she would die from heartbreak and she waited patiently for him to say the words, give her death sentence.
Occasionally she looked at him, she promised herself to not melt in his gaze but his eyes always tried to convince her of his undying love. But her heart was broken into pieces before and she didn't trust herself to be enough for him. Why would he want a broken girl?
Without looking at him she placed his tea on the bedside table and placed her folded clothes back in the wardrobe.
"Manvi" He called her and she turned her head to the side to listen to him.
"Can I talk to you?" He asked nervously.
She just nodded her head without really looking at him.
Virat's Point of View
He waited patiently for her to recover and get comfortable with him. When she first saw him at the hospital she embraced him and slept in his arms but after that night she was always distant. A month passed by yet she had not even so much as said a word to him. When he asks her a question she answers it with either a nod or if he is lucky enough he gets a word reply. He decided it was time to talk to her and know what she is thinking. She talked with everyone else but him and he wanted to know why. Being away from him all this time, has her feelings changed towards him? He decided if she wanted him to stay away he would. She could stay with their family and he decided he would go for another war or someplace far away so that he would not hurt her anymore.
"Sit down please."
She was a little hesitant at first but finally she obliged and sat nervously on the couch. He sat next to her and slowly held her hands. She jerked her hands away from him and stood up leaving him extremely hurt and resolved to leave for her good.
The moment she walked away from him he made his decision; to leave her so that she can live her life without any interference from him.
"Manvi I'm leaving." He managed to whisper.
She stopped dead on her tracks. She knew it was coming, sooner or later he would go live his life and yet it hurt her to hear him confirm it. She realized that even though she kept telling herself that he would leave, her heart had started hoping that maybe he would stay. She turned around to tell him something, stall him for a moment but words refused to slip out of her mouth. So there she stood in the doorway clutching her dupatta close to her heart.
Her reaction didn't make sense to him. He thought she would again act indifferent and leave the room like she always did instead he saw tears in her eyes. He didn't know if the tears were for him. Her eyes told him what she never did- it was accusing him of something and there was hurt in there. He decided if he had to leave he would atleast get his answers from her. There were so many questions he needed answers for but in front of her tears they seemed unimportant. He rushed towards her and cupped her face, wiping off her tears. For once she didn't stop him instead she leaned towards him.
"Hey shhh. Manvi please stop crying. Shh." He whispered and held her hands. He expected her to move her hands away and leave but she didn't, she hugged him!
For a few seconds he stood stunned but as soon as he gained his senses back he immediately wrapped his arms around her and hugged her back.
"I'm sorry baby." He kept on whispering.
She wanted to let him go and run away but she decided she deserved atleast a hug before he leaves. So she stayed close to him without any fear. She was confident her heart would stop beating when he leaves so she had no fear and no more pain.
"Always stay happy Virat. I love you." She confessed while still hugging him close.
He didn't know how to react to her sudden confession. He was overwhelmed with the closeness, her affection and without a second thought he pulled her closer and kissed the side of her neck. "I can never live happily without you. I love you so much you have no idea." He said while moving down to her shoulders.
She stood numb at the revelation. Oh how stupid was she! How could she not see his love for her all this time?! She stayed away from him, punished him and herself all this time for nothing. She felt guilty for hurting him and for not giving him the love that he deserves. He loves her but she doubted him and their love. She decided she has had enough of self-pity. It was time to fight for her love, their love and she would do it.
"Don't leave me please. I can't live without you." She clung onto him and begged him with silent tears.
This was all that he needed to hear.
