Rathore was leaving in next two days, in these two days he will hand over his responsibilities to Arjun.
The day he announced about his leave, little did he know he just invited a typhoon for himself.
At 2.30 pm at night, someone rang the doorbell of his flat.
Actually, it was more like banging the door than ringing the bell. He cursed the person behind the door, and went to open it, rubbing his eyes. And after opening it, he was not .1% surprised.
It was she.
''am I in trouble?'' he said, still rubbing his eyes, and not so caring about it.
''yes. Very much.'' She calmly answered and barged into the room.
He silently followed her, and sat on the couch. She was pacing up and forth in the room, like a tiger does in its cage. But the difference was this tigress was free. He silently sent a prayer to god.
''what the hell? Why are you going? And him, ETF chief? Why is it? Why didn't you recommend another person? He cant be the chief. It's a huge responsibility and he cant handle it. You are not going anywhere.'' She said all in one breath.
He sighed, and said'' its not my decision, its DlG sir's decision. So…'' he never finished.
''I care a damn about who's decision it is. You are not going anywhere. And he cant be the chief. He cant order me. Its only your right and I wont accept him.'' She said, glaring at him.
''you know its impossible.'' He said, tried to put some sense into her.
''of course not. You don't know how much contact I have in higher levels. You will be spared from this mission.'' She said, quite serious about it.
Sameer was little surprised about her reaction. He said, ''why are you so hyper? Is it because he will be your boss?''
''oh come on.'' She said, rolling her eyes, ''don't tell me you have not figure out anything between us. You are a cop, for heaven's sake.''
''I have not figured out anything, except maybe there is a possibility that you both know each other in past.''
''yes, we know. And trust me, I regret it every moment.'' She said, let out a breath. Then she was back again, ''but that doesn't mean he will be my boss and give me order or shout at me in front of the whole office. I wont tolerate it.''
''are you scared?'' he said, little scared about her reaction. She looked directly towards him, looking dangerously.
''what did you say?''
''don't tell me you are scared of him. If you are not, then why are you here at 2.30 pm at night? Why are you hyper for him? Are you scared to face him?'' he said it all, actually challenging her.
She let out a smirk, and went towards the door, and turned, ''I know exactly what you are doing, Rats, and trust me, its working. I am not scared of him, and I wont listen to any of his orders. All the best for your mission.'' She left, not before banging the door hard,
He sighed, and thanked the god that his plan worked. He provoked her to face arjun, and he was succeeded. But he also prayed to god for the well being of the people in ETF, as they are still unaware what is coming for them.
Next day, (first day of Arjun as ETF Chief)
He entered the office, as usual just in time. He looked around, mentally registering who is present and who is not. His eyes only searched for someone and instantly he knew that she is not here.he angrily went to his cabin.
Riya entered , full 40 mins late, sipping coke from a can and checking her blackberry.she wished everyone morning, and everyone prayed for her as she was going to scolded by Arjun, the chief in a very short time. She settled herself in the chair, while other members were busy chatting, engrossed deeply in her blackberry.
Arjun entered the room, and everyone stood up for respect, except her. He continued to glare at her, but she completely ignored his presence, like he don't exist for her. She continued to type something in her blackberry, occasionally taking sips from the coke.
It was a murder case. Arjun gave everyone info and everyone went towards outside. Riya also got up from her chair and went towards the door.
''you are 40 mins late.'' He said, still glaring at her.
''whatever.'' She said, and about to open the door, another hand stopped her and pressurized the door to be closed.
''done be late next time, or you will be very sorry.'' He said, and walked out.
''I am already very sorry.'' She said, and went ahead of him, as her words stopped him in his tracks.he was hurt by her words, and kept looking at her as she walked away from him.
Later at the night, Arjun was all alone in the ETF headquarters.he was thinking about the day, it was never so tiring.and thanks to Riya for that.
She was completely detached and unhelpful the whole day. Neither his glares or shouts had any effects on her.it was not she was not doing her job properly, but she was not listening to his orders for once.
During investigation, she was busy in her blackberry. He so wished to throw it out of the window and yelled at her for being irresponsible, but controlled it.he was suspecting if she is aware of whats going on, then suddenly her question startle him and everyone.
It was a murder of an old man. He was the only person lived in his house. There was no past of any threats, or any enemy. They were interrogating the house's watchman, who told them no person entered the house. They were busy thinking what to do next when suddenly…
''iss ghar mein security camera lage hain. Waha pe kuch videos to honge hi.'' She said, not looking at anyone, still busy in her phone. Everyone looked at her, then at each other. Shree mumbled a thank you and left to check the videos.
Arjun was also surprised. She was aware of every tiny details. Then why is she behaving like this? And he mentally slapped himself too. How can he miss this part. Actually he was so engrossed in observing her that he forgot to concentrate in his job.
After checking the video, they found a person hiding his face killing the old man. They were thinking about each possible way of who could be this man, and she was still busy in her phone.Arjun blood boiled to the limits.
He divided the job to interrogate, to find details , to tap or check videos to all of them, but there also she was unwilling and in co-operative. She was told to go with Saakshi and Chotu, but she went with Shree to check the videos instead.he barely controlled his anger, as he didn't wanted to create a scene.
During the discussion also, she was busy to cut his pov and proof her pov. They would have been fighting, if arjun had not controlled his temper. She was hell bent on pushing his limits.his temper was going to explode any minute, but thanks to saakshi for reminding the time, he called it off for a day.
He closed his eyes, and turned his chair. Why you are pushing my limits Riya? I am already sorry for hurting you so much, and you are trying purposely to test my patience. Don't do this, please. I would not be able to control myself. Don't push me. He mentally pleaded to her.
He decided to leave the office. He was almost out of the room when suddenly, he heard the ring of the reception.
There was no person in the office, so he decided to took it.
''hello? Whoever it is, I am Riya Mukherjee.ETF Officer. I have left my I card on the conference room table. Please hand me over it ASAP. I am in City hospital. Fast.''
He listened to her words, and before asking anything, she hung up.
''what is she doing in City hospital? Is she hurt? Why did she need I card?'' thousand questions ran in his mind as he took her I card and walked towards ETF SUV. He started the suv.
After some mins, he was in front of the City hospital reception. Riya was shouting at the doctors and some police officers.the officers shut up as their eyes fell on ACP Arjun Rawte. Riya noticed their silence and turned, only to look at him with an irritated eye.
She ran towards her, and snatched her I card, without saying any thank you. She showed them the card and signed some papers.
''if for your stupidity something happened to the patient, I swear I will kill you all.'' She threatened, and the nurse shook in fear.
The police officers told everything to Arjun. Riya carried a girl with her, she was bleeding badly. Doctor didn't wanted to operate her, as it's a police case. So she called police, as she didn't have any proof of her as an officer.the officers thought she herself ran her SUV over the girl, they were shouting about that when Arjun entered.
The officers left, and Arjun went towards Riya, who was clearly angry.she sensed his presence and said, ''thank you for my icard. Now you can leave.''
Arjun was not in a mood to leave. He asked, ''what happened to her?''
''none of your business.i can handle.''
''I can see that. You have to call in your office at this time at night. If I was not there…..'' his words were cut by her words.
''I was driving, and suddenly, out of nowhere, this girl came in front of my SUV. Some persons were chasing her. And one of them was the brother of local MLA.''
''are you sure?'' he was shocked. She nodded.
The nurse came again to sign some papers. She said, ''apne patients ka naam aur relation nahi fill kya.'' She gulped, as an angry Riya glared at her. She asked with great courage, ''patient ka naam?''
''Roshni, Roshni Sharma.''
''Aur aap ke saath unka rishta?''
''we are sister.'' She said and the nurse sprinted away, clearly relieved to ran.
Arjun thought his ears were betraying him. Only word was echoing in his ears, ''roshni.'' He looked at her madly as she has gone crazy.
''itna nostalgic hone ki zaroorat nahi hain uska naam sunkar.'' She said, looking at his eyes for the shortest period, then walked away, may be towards the caf, leaving behind a shocked and nostalgic Arjun.
