Chapter 8

Virat rushed to Manvi, took her in his arms and drove to the hospital as fast as he could. When he reached the hospital, he shouted for a stretcher, laid her down and held her hands.

Manvi's face was paler than ever and she spoke weakly, "Virat, I am sorry if I hurt you. I never wanted to. I never wanted you to be cheated. Don't see me as an enemy Virat. I won't be able to bear it."

"No Manvi! Never!" Virat assured her as the attendees pushed the stretcher into the ICU prying him away from her.

Before the door closed, Virat saw a glimpse of her and he knew she was smiling. A lone tear escaped his eyes. He felt guilty for hurting her. Moreover, she was his best friend. He prayed to god almighty to save her.

"Hey Mr. Sinha. This is my brother. He would probably be a part of the Indian Cricket team for the world cup. He is really talented."

Virat suddenly turned back hearing a familiar voice. As Virat guessed, it was Misha! She had a victorious smile on her face and was clinging onto another man.

Virat knew that man; he was the same one with whom he competed for finalizing his place in the Indian Cricket Team. But what was he doing with Misha?

He instantly realized that his question will remain unanswered until he go and ask Misha, who he is. He walked towards her but came to an abrupt end when he heard his name being spoken by the man who was standing opposite to Misha, whom she addressed as Mr.Sinha before "But I heard it was Virat Vadhera who is going to find a place in the team."

"He was going to. Now he is not. He is quitting!" She said with a victorious smile.

"Why?" The other man asked amazed.

"Because he knows he will be a failure." This time it was Misha's brother who replied. He laughed and Misha laughed with him. Mr. Sinha joined in.

For Virat, it was like stabbing him straight in his heart with the sharpest of all the knives. He was stunned, shock will be an understatement.

He blinked a couple of times to make sure that it was Misha who was laughing.

"Was she cheating me? He asked himself. Virat felt a shooting pain in his heart when he spoke those words. Misha was cheating upon him, Manvi was right! She was a gold digger!

And now he knew why she did that, he knew why she said all those fake loving words to him, he now knew the reason! He was blind in Misha's love. The blindness stopped him from believing Manvi. He regretted for not believing Manvi. And now he knew, Friendship was bigger than Love!

"Excuse me, is there anyone who is related to Manvi here?", he was distracted when he heard a voice from behind. He turned back to see a nurse looking at him with questioning eyes.

"Yeah, I am here, I am Manvi's friend" I replied.

"Just wanted to say that Manvi's condition Is not so good, she is sinking..."

He didn't hear the rest. He felt the world crash in front of him and the floor below him slip away. He felt helpless.
