There is a saying that a true friend is a person who you can speak to after several years and you will never feel that you havent talked in all these years. Judging by that, Anjali and kushi are awesome friends. It is so kind of her to offer to let Kushi stay.
In most Arshi stories, Kushi has to accept Arnav with a past. Here, the first thing that was different was Arnav is the talkative guy. Now, I cannot wait to see Arnav accept Kushi with such a past and also, with the very remote chance that her husband will come back from the dead due to some mixup. That would be the ultimate surprise turn in the story. I cannot wait to see what twists and turns you would take us through.

P.S - Loved the personal reply to each of the our comments last time. Appreciate it a lot.

CHAPTER 4

Arnav came out of his sister's room and stopped to take a deep breathe. He was really a good actor wasn't he , within seconds how he had changed his expression not giving out what he had heard. He actually came to take Anu's water but then hearing his Di asking Khushi about whats wrong , he stopped outside her room . He knew that he shouldn't stand and listen to their personal talks but he couldn't control as , from the time he had met Khushi , he had witnessed some difference in her and so he stood there and heard the whole story.

He slowly walked back to his room and keeping Anu's bottle on his bedside table , and swiftly lied down on the big bed , beside Anu . He turned towards her and saw her sleeping peacefully , with her right thumb inside her mouth and he smiled a bit seeing this scene. He then patted her two times and then lied straight with his left hand under his head. He lied there looking at the ceiling and rewinding what he had heard.

"Maine Bauji ko bola iss bare mein.. aur unhone mana kar diya' yeh keh kar ki woh Muslim hai'. Maine unko samjhane ki bahut koshis ki , ki aaj kal jaat paat ka din nahi raha .. par Hinu Brahmin hone ke naate unhone meri baate sunne se inkaar kar diya'. Maine 2 din iss bare mein socha ur lastly uss se shadi kar li'"[I told Bauji and he strictly refused telling that I should not marry Farhan , as he is a muslim , I tried to make him understand that caste and doesn't religion doesn't matter nowdays but Bauji being from a hindu Brahmin family refused to listen to anything else. And I got even more confused. I thought for whole 2 days and finally got married to him.]

"Khushan" he smiled remembering how Khushi had once made this name joining her and Farhan's name . He still remembered how she came one day infront of their group and told everymember about that name explaining " 'Khushi' ka 'Khus' and FARHAN ka 'an' " and how Arnav and his friends had laughed at Khushi and Farhan , teasing Farhan all the way , while Farhan had looked all embarrassed .

Farhan and Arnav were really great buddies , though not best buddies but still they were good friends and Farhan from the starting of college was in their group. And his smile soon faded remembering that Farhan was no more in this world.

"Phir main ek din Farhan ko ek aachi si naukri dhundne ke liye kaha aur usne army join kar liya'. Salary toh use aachi hi milti thi' par who saal mein.. sirf ek hi mahina humare saath bitata aur baki ke 11 aapne troop ke saath' Din ke din meri life hell banti ja rahi thi'. Uski aami mujhe kabhi pasand nahi karti thi.. aur mai samajh gayi ki chahe mai kuch bhi kar lu who mujhe kabhi pasand karegi bhi nahi."[One day I asked Farhan to find some good job , so that we can live peacefully , and he found the job in army and soon he joined them . There was a steady income for him , which we used to get everymonth , but he himself used to come and stay with us for a month and rest of the 11 months he used to stay with his troop. Day by Day my life was becoming a hell with his aami , she never liked me and I understood this that whatever I may do to please her she would never be pleased with me.]

"Aise kar ke saal guzarte gaye'. Aur kuch mahine pehle.. who aapne ek mahine ke chutti pe aaya'. Aur jaise hi who chala gaya aammi ne phir se mujh par wohi torture chalu kar diya'. Aur yeh ek hafte pehle hi' army se 2 log aaye aur'."[Like this year started passing , and few months back he came for his one month stay , the time he used to be here , his Aami would behave all well with me and the time he left, her torture on me used to be back , this time also that happened , after one month when he left , she was back to her normal self and then it happened 1 week back , one day two men from the army came and'..]

And with that and she broke into tears'. All this Anjali was trying hard to control her tears ,hearing Khushi's condition , how she had lived all this years , but seeing Khushi cry , she asked

"Khushi kya hua uske baad bata mujhe???" [Khushi what happened after that tell me???]

And she after controlling her tears said

"Aur unhone bataya ki Farhan.. ki Farhan aab iss duniya mein nahi raha'. Who marr chukka tha'. Mai tut gayi Di' meri zindegi usi waqt khatam hogayi'. Unlogo ke jaane ke baad kya hua mujhe kuch samajh hi nahi aara ha the.. bas itna mehsoos kar sakti thi ki mujhe kheech kar kahin le jaya jar aha tha.. kuch der baad samajh aaya ki mai ghar ke bahar raaste par.. sab ke samne khari thi.. par tab bhi mai senseless feel kar rahi thi'. Tab tbhi laga aur phir mujhe samajh aaya ki aaammi mujhe zor zor se hilla rahi thi aur mujh mpe chilla rahi thi'. Unke bte ke maut ka zimedaar mujhe tehra rahi thi' who mujh par bahut der tak chilla ti rahi bahut kuch bolti rahi par mujh par toh jaise kisi chiz ka aasar hi nahi ho raha tha.. aur phir unhone mere muh ke upar darwaza bandh kar diya' Mai wohi intezaar karti rahi.. par darwaaza nahi khula' "[And they told us that Farhan was no more' he has lost his live'. I broke down Di , it felt like my life ended , I didn't knew what happened and after those men left , I didn't knew what was happening but I was being pulled out . After few minutes or so I realised that I was thrown out from his house and was standing among the neighbours. Still I was standing like a senseless person , until I felt somebody shaking me and then I looked and found aammi shaking me and shouting at me , accusing me of killing her son. According to her , I was the reason behind her son's death. She accused me and after throwing me out of her house closed the door on my face. I waited for her to open it , but It didn't opened.]

He didn't knew when he had felt asleep , but his sleep was broken and he was woken up with the continuous slapping of small palms on his chest and without opening his eyes and smiling he held the owner of those tiny hands and brought her up and made her sit on his chest and then he opened his eyes to see a shocked Anu . He laughed seeing her shocked expression and she in her own cute manner tried to frown making Arnav laugh more.

Seeing her mamu's charming face and infectious smile Anu too started giggling , while clapping her hands. Then Arnav with the support of his elbow sat up and then picking up her in his arms , brought her to his level , and started rubbing his stubble with her cheeks making her feel ticklish and then making her laugh and then he said

"Good Morning Princess'.."

And she smiled at her mama and holding his chin with both her hands said

"Gun molning.." making Arnav smile and he making a sad face asked

"And where is my good morning kiss sweetheart ?"

And understanding what her mamu was saying she moved towards him and gave him an opened mouthed kiss on his right cheek and then he instantly forwarded his left cheek for her and she kissed there too.. and then he said

"Now its mamu's turn'.." and with that he lied her down on the bed and lifting her top revealing her belly he started tickling her there with his stubble and bubbles of laughter escaped her mouth and she started moving. And he lifting his face and smiling naughtily at her asked

"Aur thoda karu ???"

And she nodded her head in a No and that's when the door opened and both of them heard Anjali'svoice

"Chote aur Choti tum dono uth gaye ???"

And both Arnav and Anu turned their heads to face Anjali and Anjali smiled at their timings and said

"What ? Aise kya dekh rahe ho ?"

"Di aapne mere aur meri princess ka play time disturb kar diya'"

"Maine kuch disturb nahi kiya, aaj tum hi late jage ho Chote'" [I have not done anything , its you who have woke up late.]

"Yesss Di that's because today is Sunday'.. na'"

"Ohk ! Ohk ! job hi hai Anu ke khane ka time hogaya hai'"

And Arnav turning towards Anu said

"Sweetheart have your breakfast , till then I will also take my shower and then we well do lots of masti'"

Telling this he kissed her forehead and getting down from the bed went to his wadrobe and then inside the bathroom.

The moment he entered the bathroom , Khushi came and knocked on the door of his room. Anjali who was picking up Anu from the bed , turned and said

"Aare Khushi aandar aa na bahar kyu khari hai'" [Khushi come inside na , why are you standing outside.]

But Khushi waited outside the room till Anjali came out with Anu and said

"Chale Khushi'"

And Khushi nodded and they started walking back towards Anjali's room when Khushi said

"Di woh kal raat maine jo bhi'."

Anjali looked at Khushi and then keeping her free hand on her shoulder said

"Khushi yeh baat kisi ko tab tak nahi pata chalegi jab tak tu nahi chahegi' aur hum sab gharwaalon ko yeh bolenge ki Farhan abhi yaha hai nahi , isiliye tu kuch dino ke liye mere saath rehne aayi hai.. ok ?" [Khushi no one will get to know this , till you want me to tell anybody , and we will tell family that since Farhan is not here , so you came to Delhi , to spend some time with me.]

Khushi looked at Anjali and then her eyes started brimming up with tears and she nodded a yes.

Anjali seeing her tears nodded a NO asking her not to cry and said

"Khushi you have to be strong to start a new life , I know its tough , but you have always been a tough person isn't it , right from the time I have known you . So now try to forget the bad moments of your past thinking it as a bad dream and move on , that's what life is about MOVING ON."

Khushi nodded her head in a yes when she heard Anu saying

"Lona lona nai'"

And both Anjali and Khushi smiled and Khushi wiped her tears and smiled a forceful smile , and then changing the topic she asked

"Di ek baat batao , Anu , Anrav ke saath kyu soti hai.. I mean raat ko'."

"Alnavv'." Said Anu while smiling and Anjali turning towards Anu said

"Choti' Arnav nahi Mamu'"

And Anu smiled again and said

"Mamu'" and Anjali kissed her on her cheeks and said

"Good Girl."

Khushi smiled seeing this and then Anjali turning towards Khushi said

"Kyunki Anu Chote ke bagair nahi soti hai , isiliye Chote ko har roz time par ghar aana padhta hai'. " [Coz Anu never sleeps without Chote , so Chote everyday comes home in time.]

"Matlab ???"

"Matlab yeh ki Chote ko toh tum janti hi ho' ki who kaisa hai' I mean parties , yeh woh' haan who bara business man bann gaya hai' par uski purani aadate abhi tak nahi chute hai'so Anu use ghar se baandh kar rakhti hai aur use late night tak bahar rehne nahi deti hai'" [I mean' U know chote right' the way he parties and all' yes he has become a great business man but that has not changed his old habbits , he is still like that'. So Anu keeps him attached to the home and he comes back early.]

And they heard Arnav's voice from behind saying

"Aur Di aur jija ji ko bhi raat ko time mil jata hai' isn't it Di ???" and Anjali blushed a little and turning towards Arnav said

"Chote ???"

"Oh ! Cmon Di aapki yeh long lost sister , aab utni bhi innocent nahi rahi ki uske samne mai yeh sab nahi keh sakta'. Who bhi aache se samajh rahi hai.. mai kya bol raha hoon.. isn't it Khushi " [Oh cmon di she is not that innocent that I cant say all this infront of her and moreover she too understands what I am speaking.] he asked winking at her and Khushi smiled seeing the brother teasing his sister.

Soon after feeding Anu , the trio went down for breakfast . The breakfast was served and everybody was busy eating when Nani asked

"Khushi bitiya, Farhan bitwa kaisan hai' bahut din ho gaye unn se mile , Chote ka toh unke saath bahut dino se koi baat chit nahi hua'" [Khushi bitiya how is Farhan bitwa ??? Have not met with him for ong and even Chote doesn't have any contact with him]

Khushi hearing Nani's question all of a sudden looked at her and she didn't knew what to say , she was very bad in lieing anf that too to elders whom she loved and respected a lot . She started looking down in her plate and started thinking what to say when she heard Anjali voice from beside saying

"Nani actually Farhan is not here , so Khushi decided to come and stay with me for few days."

"Are wah !!! yeh toh bahut hi aachi baat hai'." And turning towards Khushi said

"Khushi bitiya.. aapko toh pata hi hai.. ki yeh aapka parivaar hai.. toh be jhijak jitney din marzi yaha rahiye.. hum sab aapke yaha rehne se bahut khush honge.. aur haan aagar chote ne aapko taang kiya toh aap hume aakar bata dena'" [Khushi bitiya you know that this is your family only , so you stay here as many days as you want and we all will be too happy and ya also if Chote disturbs or irritates you then you can come and complain me..]

Khushi nodded while Arnav in a complaining tone just like a small boy said

"Nani' this is not fair ' yaar sab uski hi side lete ho.." [Everyone takes her side.]

And everyone sitting there laughed along with Arnav while Khushi just forced a smile which was not gone unnoticed by Arnav.

Since Arnav was sitting on the opposite side , so all the while he was noticing how Khushi didn't eat anything and kept on nurturing her food .

How time to time she kept down her spoon and then picked it up .

How when somebody cracked a joke , for formality's sake she forced a smile .

How those smile never reached her eyes .

How her eyes showed all the pain she was going through.

After the breakfast everybody moved to the sofa's in the hall and sat there talking.

Arnav sat on a sofa with Anu in his lap and they were playing , though his eyes time to time went for Khushi , to see what she was doing .

Khushi was trying to enjoy , but no she was not able to do so .

How can someone be happy when there is so much pain hidden inside her.

After 5 minutes or so the bell rang and Hp opened it and soon they heard a male voice saying

"Jaan mai aagaya'"

And all of them saw Anjali's cheek turning into a deep shade of red and she embarrassed looking down.

Arnav smiled and said

"Di jao jao.. tumhare woh aagaye'."

"Chote !!!"

"Rani Saheba'"

She heard him and turned around and was engulfed into a tight hug by Shyam , that also infront of the whole family and everybody started laughing.

After they parted from the hug , she stayed in his arm snd said

"Tumne batayana nahi tum aaj hi aane wale ho'" [U didn't told that you are coming today..]

"Surprise jaan.."

"Yeh thodi na thik hai'"[She said in a pouting tone']

"Awww I missed u sweetheart" and telling this he bend to kiss anjali when Mami said

"Damadji.. we all are present.. aap Anjali bitiya ko room mein le jae'"

And anjali all embarrassed moved away from his arms and everybody laughed.

Khushi was looking at them and was trying hard to control her tears , it was reminding her of she and Farhan used to be after their marriage.

And Arnav , his full attention was towards Khushi , he was noticing her expressions.

Soon everybody waslooking into old albums of their college days and that's when Khushi saw a pic of Arnav and Farhan together smiling. She started moving her hand over Farhan's face and the tears she was holding for so long started flowing out , Drop wise . Exceot Anjali and Arnav nobody understood and knew the reason and Mami trying to tease Khushi said

"Lagat hai' kisi ko Farhan bitwa ki bahut hi remembering ho rahi hai'" and everybody started laughing while Khushi wiping away her tears , faking a smile ran upstairs towards the guest room.

Arnav right from the breakfast was keeping an eye on her , was noticing her and he saw the dark , sad aura surrounding Khushi . It was so unlike Khushi and he said or vowed to himself

"I promise .. mai purani Khushi ko , meri enemy , wohi hansti muskurati Khushi ko zarur wapas layunga'." [I promise I will bring back my enemy , that fun loving all time smiling Khushi back . I will surely bring back that old Khushi.]
