Chapter 10
At the end of their college day.
Swayam and Taani are near the entrance.
Taani- Bhai you go home, I have some work to do here
Swayam- I can wait
Taani- No, No, go home. I'll be long
Swayam- Ok call me when your done
Taani- Ok bye
Taani goes to the rehearsal room and waits for Rey to arrive.
After a while Rey arrives and sits on The floor right beside Taani.
They sit in silence until Rey starts talking.
Rey- I'll tell you mine, if you tell me yours
Taani- Whatever we say or do here today stays here
Rey- Fair
Taani- ... I was stupid and naive. I didn't know, actually I couldn't see the world for what it really was. I lived in my dreams. Because of that I never saw the danger signs. I let myself believe what people showed me, I never doubted anyones intentions and because of that I got hurt
Rey- Taani thats not good enough
Taani- Why
Rey- You said you wanted to make me bleed for cutting your wounds open, but here you are scratching your wounds not cutting them
Taani- I was in a relationship, my very first one. I was excited, I didn't want to listen to anyone. I hid this guy from my family, it was a secret that my family didn't need to know, because they would have disapproved of me dating.
I believed the things he promised, I didn't learn to trust actions, I believed in words. I will regret that for the rest of my life. I remembered the wrong lessons.
Because of that, I let a person in. Not just any person, but someone who broke me, used me, lied to me and burned me alive. I still feel the flames he lit. I still feel the ashes under my feet. I still feel every wrong he did. Thats how bad he scarred me. He pretended to love me, he used me, he beat me, he took my confidence and filled my heart with fear.
Taani was tearing up, but she was trying to hide it from Rey. She didn't want him to see her like that.
Rey- I'm sorry
Taani- Why are you sorry, you said you needed this
Rey- I didn't know, it was that bad. I assumed he left or cheated . I never expected this
Taani- I guess, I should've been clearer
Rey- No, I guess I was being selfish. I am so sorry
Taani (she giggled)- I think you're avoiding the subject now
Rey ( He slightly chuckled )- No, I am not
Suddenly the atmosphere became serious again.
Rey- She was different, it was like we knew each other long before meeting. We knew each other so well. She was my friend, she was my life and she was my love. And then she changed. The last thing she said to me was she was using me to get what she needed. I can't stop her last words for repeating in my head. Did I only mean that much, was I only a stepping stone
Taani- You're not a stepping stone. People are going to use you, but only you decide how much they get
Rey- People are going to hurt you, but only you decide how deep they can cut. They only problem, we don't realize when we start feeling the pain, so they manage to cut deeper than we intend
Taani- If the decision lies within us, why do we only realize when it's late
Rey- We learn the lessons we underestimated that way, it's like those lessons are saying I told you so
Taani- Well now we know
Rey lies down on the floor and covers his eyes with his arms.
Rey- Teach me passion Taani, help me find my muse
Taani- Teach me to love myself Rey
Rey- Looks like we both needed this more than we thought
Taani- Ya you're right
They sit in silence for a while. Then Rey decides to speak.
Rey- They just don't understand what it's like and they expect me to move on like it's nothing. But it meant so much to me
Taani- They don't understand, it literally feels like someone rips you apart and you have to sow the pieces back together. It's a long and painful process
Rey- Ya, um anyways why did you want to meet here
Taani- Oh yeah, I almost forgot. You are going to dance to a song that I'll sing. Freestyle it, you'll understand when you hear the lyrics
Rey- Do I have too
Taani- Yes you said you wanted to find your passion, well come on find it
Rey- Are you challenging me
Taani- Take it however you want, but I never lose
Rey- Fine bring it on, I will find my passion today and if I don't you win. But I won't lose
Taani- Winner takes whatever they want
Rey- deal, lemme get ready and we'll start
Rey changes into workout clothes and Taani prepares the instrumental of the song she has picked.
When he is ready Taani starts singing.

After he is done and his breathing is back to normal.
Rey- I won
Taani- No, I win
Rey- No I found my passion
Taani- No you didn't, you never lost it, you hid it. Today you stopped hiding, you danced for yourself and let your emotions do the dancing. So I win
Rey- You're crazy...um by the way, thank you, your song selection was nice. I feel like myself for the first time in a long time
Taani- Good for you
Rey- Taani, just so you know no one deserves what you had to go through not even you. That person you were with, isn't a man. Whatever said to you was a lie. And I am sure he's the one regretting things now. Don't beat yourself up about it, you're in a better place. Remember it was never your fault
Taani- Thanks a lot Rey, This really means a lot to me
Rey- You know today I realized, after everything I should put myself first and when the time is right let someone else in
Taani- I like that Idea
Rey-... I don't feel like leaving yet, do you want to dance for a while
Taani- Sounds like fun, you pick the song
Rey goes to the stereo and plays a song. He walks over to Taani and cutely asks for her and she gives it to him. They both start dancing together and enjoying themselves with each other.
They both lose track of time until Rey's phone rings.
They let go of each other and Rey picks up his phone.
Swayam is calling him.
Rey- Hello
Swayam- Hey Rey, I know it's late, but it's 1 in the morning and Taani is still not home. She said she was gonna be at school and I know you had GS work, did you see her there
Rey- Ya I saw her, she's most likely still there, she probably lost track of time
Swayam- Thanks, I'll go pick her up. I was just worried, she's not answering phone
Rey- Dude it's normal, you're her big brother. Anyways I'm near the college so I'll go pick her up.
Swayam- Thanks man, I really owe you
Rey, Swayam- Bye
He hangs up the phone and looks a Taani.
Rey- Looks like we had too much fun
Taani- Oh shit bhais gonna kill me
Rey- Hey don't worry, if anything happens I'll take care of it. I promise so please relax
Taani- Rey you don't need to
Rey- No arguing with me, haha, get ready let's go
Taani- Alright
They prepare themselves then leave.
Outside her house.
Taani- Thank you for the lift
Rey- No problem, call me if you need help
Taani ( she smiles fondly at him )- I will. Bye
Rey- Bye
Taani Walks towards her house. Rey waits for her to enter her house before leaving.
In the car.
Rey- That girl is crazy
At the Shekhawat.
Taani enters the house and sees Swayam on the couch.
Before Swayam can say anything Taani starts apologizing.
Taani- Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, Sorry bhai, I lost track of time. And I'm so sorry I didn't call
Swayam- Taani, relax. I'm your brother not an army sergeant. Just next time it happens make sure to call me, I was so worried
Taani- Yes bhai
Swayam- Now go to bed
They both go to bed.
