Chapter 9
I give myself no time to think, because I know that if I do, the sheer rage and panic I feel because of this betrayal will blind me to everything else.
He still doesn't believe her. After all that she has went through, he still doesn't believe that what she is doing is for herself and maybe for him, too! God, could this man dig his redemption grave any more deeper? Oh yes, he most definitely can!
"Everything is still the same. You still believe that you are always right. You still don't trust me, or Nanheji. And you are still jumping to conclusions without asking me for an explanation...just like what you did on that night ..."
Khushi, this man that you have fallen in love with is as stupid as a man can get. His rage blinds him yet he doesn't stop doing the same mistake, thinking it will bear him different results.
We see each other through the glass, across the crowds.
As if I have said before, his redemption will be as far as the glass door that separated him from saving his wife on that horrible night; he will always be reminded of how he failed her without getting any respite of his pain.
Khushi's letter
Do you know how it feels to see the shattering of a dream that you never realized you had in the first place?
That summed up everything this brave young girl went through. It's so easy for people to say it was in your destiny, or God only gives what you can handle but how utterly ridiculous these words sound a victim who has been battered in every sense, body and soul. It's her ability to withstand it all that makes her so strong yet people take advantage such a human being. As if they know that this person can endure it all but is it fair to accept that this human being has to bear it all just because she can? How justifiable is this action? What will happen when she has it enough?
Chapter 10
Lavanya Kashyap. Another sin that I have forgotten…If I am honest with myself, I can admit that I had used her in an attempt to run away from what I was beginning to feel for Khushi…And Lavanya did not deserve that. I can only hope that she has been able to move on as well…
Oh, how I love you for addressing this sin of his. It's so easy for us to forget that in this entire ordeal, the people who paved the path for his sins were also affected; Lavanaya case in point. Oh, how much a year has made him think of others rather of himself.
Love is putting her happiness above all else. And if that means that she has to stay away from me forever, then I am ready for that too.
Maybe he had to go through such a path to realize this startling truth. I always believed that we are on this Earth for a purpose and a drive to realize a truth of our own; we will be put through tests in such a way that every time that purpose and truth only gets reinforced in our lives. This was Arnav's purpose and truth. Though he put his family above others, he did it through the use of materialistic aspects yet never letting anyone in his heart. This amazing girl named Khushi did it without his permission and he learned to give away his fear of being vulnerable yet firm in his love and he has to thank Khushi for that. Khushi's truth and purpose, you ask? To put herself above others. How apart are these souls in their mission yet they are entwined in their purpose and truth.
"As part of our duties here, will we be required to take measurements of the male models?"
The first line in your entire story that made me LOL in pure joy!
Chapter 11
What I absolutely LOVED about this chapter is that you showed how both individuals in their own ways were trying to be friends for one another. Arnav, in his dreamland has crossed that line but Khushi kept the aura about her intact with confidence and maturity. BUT, that doesn't not give ARNAV the DAMN FREAKING RIGHT TO TOUCH HER WITHOUT HER FREAKING PERMISSION!!! YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO ASK HER if she is comfortable with you being near her. Do you know if she is okay with you touching her? Do you know if she has put a mask on that nightmare just so she can find other avenues to deal with that pain? You don't, Arnav Singh Raizada. So I am not at all surprised that Khushi reacted the way she did.
Chapter 12
"I know. But we will face it together. In fact, we should start now. I'm going to hold your hand, Khushi. Try not to move away..."
It's such a rare feat for a man to redeem himself in the eyes of his beloved woman. And, to acknowledge that pain and pave the way to be there to share the pain with her; that's the unconditional love. And, so freaking unbelievable yet I know of such men and it warms my heart to know that such men are there for women.
"Laad Governor, will you stop staring at it, and understand what I am trying to say here?"
Only a soul like Khushi Kumari Gupta could propose to the man in such manner!
Epilogue
But now, I am concerned about the effect this has on her emotional well-being. How can she stay happy and at peace if she insists on answering the phone calls to the helpline? I am afraid that those calls will bring back those terrible memories that she has worked so hard to get away from. And I really don't want that to happen. Not right now.
For someone who works at a center and takes such calls, let me tell you, each day you prepare yourself to deal with the worst, and each day you leave with counting your blessings. I live each day as if it's my last and if I can help out at least one soul, then I feel my purpose and the truth of my life being replenished; to let go of your pain and be there for another person in pain. I applaud you for writing this beautiful piece of work from Arnav's point. I don't know to express such gratitude but I am proud of such women who survive such travesties and move on with a shield that is as powerful as the attitude with which they live each day.
