Chapter Five: Happily Ever After

The date was turning out to be quite a success. By the way things had been going on between them, Arnav had imagined somebody would throw hot coffee on him but fortunately, nothing of that sort happened.

Unfortunately, dear readers, he spoke too soon.

"Awnaaawww?"

Arnav closed his eyes in horror.

"OHMAYGOD AWWWNNAAAVVV! EETT IZ YOUU. OMG. LIKE AFTAH AWL DIS TAEM. LIKE... WOW."

"Hello."

"BAWY. I MISS THE FEELING YOU CUDDLIN UP NEXT TER MEH YEAH? OMG OMG OUT OF AWL DEE PLACES..."

Khushi had begun to laugh behind her handkerchief. Arnav had begun to look for places to hide.

"CAN I JOIN YOUUU?"

Arnav looked to Khushi. "Of course you can, my dear!" beamed a suspiciously affable Khushi

"NO!" yelled Arnav.

The entire restaurant settled down to watch this scene.

"Erm, no actually you can't, Amy. Erm, I mean ... I was just celebrating the fact that my wife is housing my kid, and I'd really appreciate some alone time"

That wiped the smirk off their faces.

Amy stalked off and out of the restaurant while Arnav grinned back at Khushi. "Wife?" she asked him with clenched teeth. "Oh sorry, I meant Ex-Wife ... did I forget to mention that?"

The order had arrived on their table. "bas***d" Khushi mumbled as she stuffed a bit of the chocolate cake into her mouth.

Arnav grinned into her face and smirked. He wished he hadn't annulled his marriage with Khushi Gupta after all.

"What?!" she snapped, her face full of cake.

"Nothing"

She glared suspiciously into his face. And then, she attacked the cake with renewed vigour.

"Khushi?" he asked her suddenly.

"Yes?"

"Will you do me the honour of helping me rectify a mistake?"

"What mistake?"

"Not remaining married to you"

"What?"

"Well, look at it this way. You're smart, funny, independent, pretty and you'll help keep the ex girlfriends away. I'm smart, funny, rich and I'm not sure if you have stalker ex boyfriends, but I do know enough of kick boxing to keep the bas***ds away. You're single, and so am I. We were once married. And also the fact that in a space of 2 weeks, I may have fallen for you.

There was silence in after his confession. "You ... what?"

"Umm, long story short. Will you date me? I'm in love with you."

"Huh?"

"I mean, if you want to, of course. Oh shit, I totally forgot to ask you about what you feel. I had this earth shattering revelation when you were stuffing your face with that cake ... I ... this is totally embarrassing"

"I cannot believe I'm officially dating Arnav Singh Raizada" she mumbled after ten minutes of silence. "Is that a yes?"

"Arnav Singh Raizada" she began formally "It shall be a pleasure to help you rectify your mistake."

They stood up then. And the next moment Khushi walked up to him and in a room full of strangers turning to watch them, she kissed him.

Ten minutes later they disentangled and walked hand in hand out of the place, as the patrons hooted and cheered behind them.

It was the perfect happily ever after.

Yes, A and B started dating and are now happily married, with one daughter who's just five months old. The daughter's name is Sunaina

And with this, I bid good bye to this story. No epilogue shall be written. Would like to add that A proposed to B EXACTLY as it was written down in the chapter, though the events leading up to the proposal were of course, different. Yes, A has an ex girlfriend called Amy. She does speak like that. Her tits are 85% silicon. I've asked.

Aakash even when you want to surprise your girl much later in the day and didn't expect your secretary to ruin your plans, never ever give her a VLCC voucher. Be happy that Payal trusted you and is ready to marry you.

Arnav and Khushi only a 10 bucks bet? Itna chindi? Itne paisey main toh Dairy Milk bhi nahi aati.

But one good thing came out of it.

Arnav asked Khushi on a date. She agreed. They went. He bumped into an annoying ex. She didn't get jealous but teased him. He called her his wife. Ex left. She ate cake. He realised his love. He proposed and now they are married and have a daughter.

I liked it though.. short and sweet.. but it did feel a little hurried and as if it did not reach its full potential.. now I am sounding like my high school math teacher..
