Chapter Four
Arnav and Khushi made to wriggle out from under the table and in the next moment, they banged their heads. "UGH" Khushi shouted. "Get out of the bloody way!"
Arnav cast one look at the fire breathing Khushi and then, got out of the bloody way.
* * *
"Payal?"
Payal raised a blotchy head right into the eyes of a very concerned Khushi.
"Khushi ' I '"
"Atleast tell me what went wrong, darling?"
Payal sat up straight on her bed and looked into Khushi's eyes. "I ' Khushi, this week, Akash has been increasingly on the edge around me. I've been feeling so unwanted around him. So unwanted, so unloved. I kept thinking this was just work and whatever, but today also happened to be our anniversary, like the day we met. And Akash forgot. I didn't mind, I didn't even tell him off. But then his secretary phoned him, you know Wanda at work? She PHONES him and she tells him it's our anniversary. Akash shoots me this major guilty look and shoots off. And after three hours he comes back and hands me this huge box and apologizes for forgetting and gives m a hugeass lecture about how stressful it is at him at work and all. And then I opened the gift and guess what the gift was? A VLCC make up voucher. A BLOODY VLCC MAKE UP VOUCHER. And then I started thinking that what if THIS was what our marriage resulted into? Akash being busy at work and being reminded about anniversaries by his secretary? What if we just got divorced. No marriage, no nothing"
Khushi stared back at her client and friend and then leaned forward as if she was about to tell Payal a secret. "Payal" she asked in a stage whisper "Are you pregnant?"
Suffice to say, Payal exploded.
Twenty minutes later'
Akash rushed into house and shouted for Payal. "Khushi where is Payal?" he asked urgently and continued without waiting for a reply. "I had been planning to surprise her by acting all cold and distant for a week, and then Wanda ruined my plans and so I had to do something so that she has a proper surprise in the evening and then she turns to me and tells me that she doesn't want to get married!"
Arnav and Khushi looked their confusion. "Akash" Khushi began. "Payal is that way" Arnav interrupted. Akash sprinted away as Khushi and Arnav looked at each other and glared.
Twenty minutes after the "twenty minutes later"'
Akash and Payal emerged out of the room and grinned. "Is the wedding back on?" asked an anxious Khushi. "Yes!" they shouted together. "Give me ten bucks, Khushi" Arnav whispered into her ear as Akash and Payal walked out of the house. "Damn it" muttered an irate Khushi as she turned towards Arnav and slapped ten bucks onto his palms.
As an amused Arnav watched on Khushi stomped away. "I've still not forgiven you!" she shouted as she walked away. Arnav began to laugh and fell back on the sofa
"Khushi!" shouted Arnav as she walked away. "Will you go out for coffee with me?" he asked her, just as she walked up the stairs.
Khushi froze for just a second before turning back to look at Arnav. With an inscrutable look in her eyes, she ran back up the stairs.

What happened in the original incident was B had walked into the house in tears, telling A how her boyfriend did not know and understand her. All this because B's boyfriend had gifted her a VLCC make up voucher, on her birthday. A didn't understand the fuss and asked B if she was pregnant.
It took me two weeks to get them to talk again.
