Smita,😊
Here is my interpretation to Part 98.
Brilliant Smita! Brilliant! I am wondering why it took me so long to identify! I am wondering whether to say Eureka! I have finally got it or I am sitting under the Bodhi tree and being enlightened!
Usage of CHAIROSCURO is absolutely stunning! Now that I think of it you have been using this technique in quite a few updates! Today my theme is CHAIROSCURO
What is CHAIROSCURO? Well it is a technique used both in painting and literary works to bring out strong, bold contrasts affecting a whole composition!
Akash & Payal took the stage amidst cheers and shouts of encouragement.
Achaa ji main haari, chalo maan jaao naa...
sang Payaliyaa, trying to manaofy an Akash sulking in the corner.
Akash sang,
Dekhi sabaki yaari, meraa dil jalaao naa...
Payal tried to make Akash look at her, but he resolutely turned his face away.
"If you don't receive love from the ones who are meant to love you, you will never stop looking for it" ~ Robert Goolrick
Chhote se kasoor pe, aise ho khafaa...
Payal said.
Roothe to huzuur the, meri kyaa khataa...
replied Akash.
Dekho dil naa todo...
pleaded Payal.
"I want him to see the flowers in my eyes and hear the songs in my heart"
~ Francesca Lia Block, Dangerous Angels
Chhodo haath chhodo...
demanded Akash.
Dekho dil na todo
Are! chhodo haath chhodo
Chhod diyaa to haath maloge samajhe?
warned Payal, a cross look on her face.
"If you suffer and make your loved ones suffer, there is nothing that can justify your desire"
~Thich Nhat Hanh, The Art of Power
Ajii samajhe!
declared Akash.
"And nothing in love is free,
So if it's not worth fighting for,
It's worth nothing at all"
Akash looked ridiculous with a petulant look on his normally pleasant face and Payal's efforts to tease, trick, & prod him into laughter tickled the audience, especially the older ladies.
As the applause and laughter died down, the stage became dark.
"Dance with me?", Arnav asked Khushi softly, holding his hand out.
"Laughter is the sun which drives the winter from the human face" ~ Victor Hugo
Khushi laughed and put her hand in his, expecting him to join the guests dancing off-stage. His hand engulfed hers, and to her shock, he led her on to the stage.
"Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all is a form of planning" ~ Gloria Steinem
"Arnavji...? What...?" Her voice was a thin thread.
Arnav smiled.
Mami's mouth fell open. "Hamre Arnav Bitwaa dancing?"
Anjali looked at Nani, shocked. Buaji clapped her hands, delighted. Amma smiled. Aarti & NK looked at the pair with anticipation, wondering what they were up to.
"Sometimes people surprise us. People we believe we know" ~ Joyce Carol Oates, The Falls
The applause was deafening, the children leading in shouting their encouragement. Baba smiled.
Arnav handed over a CD and his coat to Chotu and Vivek standing in the wings, and brought Khushi to stand at the centre of the stage, facing him.
"You planned this? With Chotu & Vivek?", Khushi looked into his naughty eyes.
"Hhmm.."
"The summit of happiness is reached when a person is ready to be what he is"~ Desiderius Erasmus
"Arnavji!", Khushi was frantic. "What will NK Bhai & Aartiji think? We haven't practiced the dance. All the others have been training for a week atleast... If it is bad..."
Arnav looked into his wife's beautiful eyes. He took hold of both her hands.
"Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn" ~ Gore Vidal
"Khushi, we are in our garden. It is lit by many strings of fairylights, making it look like a paradise.", he whispered.
The beginning strains of the song floated on the air.
"I can smell the jasmine.", Khushi whispered, lost in him and the magic of his words.
"Your happiness is a gift because it literally brings out the best in you" ~ Robert Holden
Aapki kashish sarfarosh hai...
the husky voice crooned.
Aapka nasha yun madhosh hai...
Arnav ran his hand over Khushi's hair and down the softness of her right cheek. Khushi closed her eyes in pleasure.
Kya kahe tumse jaane ja
Gum hua hosh hai...
He twirled her gently within the safe net of his arms, their eyes locked, unable to look away.
"Eyes can only capture objects that already seen in mind. And mind can only see things that already written in heart"
~ Toba Beta, My Ancestor Was an Ancient Astronaut
Aapki kashish sarfarosh hai...
Khushi lifted her left hand and rested it on his right shoulder and curled it around his neck.
Duba rahoon sada tere khayalon mein,
Uljha rahoon sada tere sawalon mein..
Khushi bent backwards, lying warm and safe in the cocoon of his strong arms, his face close to hers.
Tere bina kahin ab na karaar hai,
Jaaneman tujh pe toh jaan bhi nisaar hai...
Arnav raised her back to standing position, and kneeled down in front of her.
"In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art" ~ Rumi
Khushi sang,
Jaana re jaana re maine jaana,
Tu mera tu mera deewana...
Khushi circled his kneeling figure, the wind playing with the soft silk of her pink-red pallu and the even softer and silkier strands of her hair. She lovingly placed her hands on his shoulders, and helped him rise to stand by her.
Na meri khata, na mera dosh hai
Aapka nasha yun madhosh hai...
Arnav seemed to be whispering his love to her. He turned her, and drew her to rest against him, her back to his front.
"I would like to be the air that inhabits you for a moment only. I would like to be that unnoticed and that necessary" ~ Margaret Atwood
Her head rested in the crook of his neck, and he held her close with his arms around her waist.
Kya kahe tumse jaane ja
Gum hua hosh hai...
The audience stared at them without drawing breath for fear that the magic bubble would break, that something precious would shatter to pieces if they disturbed it, that the aura of love and passion would vanish into thin air if they so much as breathed.
"Love is a promise, love is a souvenir, once given never forgotten, never let it disappear"
~ John Lennon
Teri adaaon ka, jaadu joh chal gaya
Deewana main hua, dil machal gaya
Halka dhuan utha, mausam badal gaya
Roshan hua sama, parwaana jal gaya...
Arnav curled his fingers around the back of her slender, creamy neck, the strands of her hair clinging to his fingers as though they did not want to let go of him.
"I want morning and noon and nightfall with you. I want your tears, your smiles, your kisses...the smell of your hair, the taste of your skin, the touch of your breath on my face. I want to see you in my every breath" ~ Lisa Kleypas, Again the Magic
He held her as she bent in time to the music.
Khushi sang,
Jaagi re jaagi re main soyi,
Teri hi yaadon mein khoyi...
Arnav caught hold of her arms and lifted them away from her body to circle his neck.
Ab mera jahaan, Teri aaghosh hai...
He pulled her into his arms, holding her close and sheltered against his bigger, stronger body.
"This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of yourself. Finally, to take a step without feet"~ Rumi
Aapka nasha yun madhosh hai...
Kya kahe tumse jaane ja...
Gum hua hosh hai...
Aapki kashish sarfarosh hai
Aapka nasha yu madhosh hai
Kya kahe tumse jaane ja
Gum hua hosh hai...
The music died down. The pair stood lost in each other, unaware of where they were.
"Being with you and not being with you is the only way I have to measure time"~ Jorge Luis Borges
There was a moment of perfect silence in the huge hall as the guests stood electrified by the raw passion and love they had just seen on stage.
"I'm not sure this is a world I belong in anymore. I'm not sure that I want to wake up"
~ Gayle Forman, If I Stay
Then, slowly, the children began to clap their hands. The adults woke up from the dream they had been lost in, and started clapping hard. Arnav and Khushi blinked their eyes, returning to the real world from their paradise of love and dreams.
"The soul, fortunately, has an interpreter - often an unconscious but still a faithful interpreter - in the eye" ~ Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre
They smiled at each other. Then they bowed to the audience, and Arnav carried his wife down the steps to her seat, gently cradling his world, his wife and his unborn child, in his protective arms.
"Once in a lifetime you find someone
Who touches not only your heart but also your soul
Once in a lifetime you find someone
Who stands beside you and not in front of you
Once in a lifetime you find someone
Who loves you for who you are
Once in a lifetime you find someone
A very special love as I have found you
I'M SO LUCKY TO HAVE FOUND YOU"
Well! Well! Well!!! What do I say to the master writer!
This update began with the Akash and Payal number that had the audience in laughter seeing the normally pleasant faced Akash in angry mode. His wife, Payal persuading, cajoling an indignant Akash to smile at her, resorting to various means and even threatening in the end.
Their endearing performance had the audience in stitches. The entire rendition was on a lighter vein and the audience lapped it up!
The audience who had a treat of laughter with the performance of Akash and Payal were given a treat of their lifetime when Arnav Singh Raizada walked with his wife, Khushi on to the stage. He who had abhorred marriage, avoided family functions led his wife on to the stage. Khushi was stunned by his action! Neither she nor anyone else had a clue to his thoughts. She realized his intention when he passed a CD and his coat to Vivek and Chotu! He had planned to dance with her!
"Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give"
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
This he had thought out well and was executing it. When Khushi felt nervousness gripping her for not having practiced, he put her at ease asking her to imagine just the two of them being in their garden and she who has full faith in him got transported to their personal Eden, their garden filled with the fragrance of Jasmine that he had planted just for her!
"When you establish a destination by defining what you want, then take physical action by making choices that move you towards that destination, the possibility for success is limitless and arrival at the destination is inevitable"
~ Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free
Their arrival on stage was greeted with a deafening applause, showing how well these two were loved and were lovingly anticipating their surprise performance!
With the beginning of the strains of the melody they both lost the awareness of their surrounding and it was just the two in their world. Their eyes kept conversing with one another.
"The soul, fortunately, has an interpreter - often an unconscious but still a faithful interpreter - in the eye" ~ Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre
Their actions conveyed their intense feelings for one another.
"The one thing we can never get enough of is love. And the one thing we can never give enough of is love" ~ Henry Miller
For them their love was all encompassing and it was out in open for the audience to see. Audience were mesmerized by this display of rapturous ardour.
"Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place" ~ Zora Neale Hurston
This was true to both of them and was true to the audience too for having witnessed such intense display of love.
"Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile"~ Franklin P. Jones
For them having found their soulmates in one another, they enjoy, relish and cherish each and every moment of their life together.
"Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need"~ Khalil Gibran
Both are aware of it. This was what has made their love intense, giving, caring and content.
At the end of the song neither the performers nor the audience were aware of the song ending. It was greeted by silence. All became aware of their surroundings only when the children started clapping! With the return to the earth from their personal Paradise Both of them took a bow with a smile. Then Arnav Singh Raizada in his own style took his petite wife in his arms and carried her down the steps!
The performance of Akash and Payal of Pacifying Love, a Dalliance was on a lighter vein.
In contrast the display put up by Arnav and Khushi was Ecstatic Love, a Rapturous Ardour, a love of great intensity.
Is this not CHAIROSCURO?
It is CHAIROSCURO and
LADY!! TAKE A BOW!
