CHAPTER 3:

"hey sab jaldi karo… bhool gaye aaj haldi ka rasam hai… jaldi jaldi hath batao…" Anji was so busy. After all the marriage day was so close. She kept running here and there. And frequently she had to rush to her bhai. After all her mom had given her the most difficult task—to keep Arjun's temper in control.

"oh God… ye bhai bhi… ab kaha gaye?"

She saw a small boy running away as if seen a ghost. She watched him running to his mom. "Kya hua Rohan? Kya hua?" they boy kept his mouth shut but held onto his mom's saree. "ok koi baath nahi beta… ab ye khana khao…"

The boy was so obedient that even his mom was surprised. "are iss kya hua? Aaj pehle baar mere sare baath maan rahe hai". Choti knew why this boy had a sudden behavior change. "Oh God bhai…" he went to the room from where the boy came out. Arjun was picking up the pieces of a broken vase.

"kya hua tha yaha bhai?"

"kya hua matlab?"

"don't you play with me. Aapne hi uss bache ko dara diya na? bechara kithne dare hue hai?"

"acha tho wo bechara hai? choti, shaitan hai wo. Ye bache log ithne shor kyu machathe hai? ek jagah nahi bait sakthe hai kya? Aur dekh bhagthe bhagthe ek vase bhi thod diya."

"bhai, bacha hai wo. Abhi tho khelenge. Aur aap kahi usse maara tho nahi hai?"

"nahi, patha nahi wo kyu dar gaya. Mien tho bas ek baar dekha hi tha usse. Fir bhag gaya."

She started to laugh out loudly. "that was more than enough bhai. Bechara ek look me hi mar gaye. Patha nahi yaha aur kya kya hone wala hai."

"choti, tum bhi na. sachme ye shaadi me sab ithna shor kyu machathe hai?"

"oh god, ab aap shaadi ke shor ke bare mien batha raha hai. soch jab aapka bache hoge thab kya hal hoga. Ya tho fir aap unke tharah shor machane lagege. Ya tho fir wo bhi aapke tharah aise samjhe samjhane looks dege."

Arjun tries to hit his giggling sister. But she rushes out. She stops at the door. "jaldi thaiyar hoja bhai, haldi ka rasam shuru hone wale hai."

"oh no… please choti… not haldi…" but she already ran out. "Are yaar kaha bhas gaya?"

Its almost time. after lot of talks and promises about putting minimum haldi Arjun agreed for it. choti was so excited. She was going to the hall were everything was ready. Suddenly she felt someone closing her eyes from behind. She touched the hands trying to identify the person. She got it… "CHEATER…"

She pulled out the hands and turned to him. "apke himmath kaise hui mujhe aise pakadne keliya? Shayad apko patha nahi ke mein kaun hu? Aap aaj yaha kyu ayi ho?huh??"

"choti wo mien…"

"how dare you call me that?? I'm Anjali. Aur choti sirf mere bhai aur mummy-pappa kaeliya. Aap inme se kaun he?"

"choti, mien bhi tumhara bhai hu na??"

"bhai?? Acha farz nibhaya hai aapne bhai ka? Aaj mere bhai ke haldi hai. bohot jald shaadi bhi hoga. Aur aap aaj aya hai? kyu ab aapke sare mujrimo ko saza mila gaya hai kya ACP Rathod???"

Rathod gulped. He knew this was coming up. Even he expected the worst of her beating him up publically. Thank God… abhi thak nahi hua.

"bol… aap chup kyu hai?? ye koi time hai kya aane ka. Dekhna maa..(she said looking behind Rathod) ye kab aaraha hai?"

Rathod saw Arjun's mom coming upto him along with her husband. They smiled at him. He went down to take his blessings. Mr. Rawte held him up and hugged him warmly. "kaise ho beta?"

"teekh hu papa… sorry I'm late."

"its ok beta I can understand." Anji's mom also hugged him with love.

Sameer has been Arjun's best friend. (well 2^nd best friend, after Anji, as she took the 1^st place by herself) They knew each other for a long time and the family considered him as a son. He worked in Delhi with a small group and formed a strong team that had good name over there.

"papa aap janthe ho, aajkal bohot kaam hotha hai. isiliye late hu. I'm sorry"

Dad: its ok. Ab tum agaye ho. Waise agar sorry kehna hai tho apne Choti se keh do" they moved away for the works.

Sam: I'm sorry. Please mujhe maaf kardo. I really wanted to be here. Par kaam bhi ithna tha. I'm sorry

Choti: ab bas sorry hi bologe? Gale nahi miloge?

He smiled and hugged and she hugged back tightly. "its ok bhai, but I missed you."

"missed you too choti…(he broke the hug) ab bolo hamare dulhe raja kaha hai?"

"oh pucho math unke bare mien. Kabhi unhe shor sharable se problem. Kabhi guests se. kabhi bach se. tho ab haldi se. ab aap hi sambhaliye. Mien tho thak gayi hu"

"ok. I'll see from here. Waise kaha hai wo?"

"upar kamre mien. At last getting ready for haldi" Sameer kisses Choti's forehead and goes up to the room.

There Arjun was so irritated in his vest. "ab sab ye haldi lagane lagege. Aur mujhe bewakoof ke tharah beech me bittayege. Waise Choti ne promise kiya hai ke zyada nahi hoga. But I don't believe her. Patha nahi yaha mere baath koi sun kyu nahi rahe??"

Sam: ab mein agaye hu na?? ab mujhse bol sakthe ho.

Arjun turns around to see a grinning Sameer at the door. He was happy but all of a sudden he was angry. As Sam came to him, Arjun held by his collar. "kameene kahinke?? Ya bhi koi time hai aane ke?? Mujhe yaha pe sab shaadi ke naam pe badnaam kar rahe hai. aur tum ab aarahe ho??"

Sam: "are Arjun chod. Jaise bhai waise behen. Abhi abhi there behen ke daat sunke ayah u. aur tum kya keh rahe ho? You know our work. Najaane kin kinke paav pakdke leave mila hai. aur patha nahi mere team waha sathyanash kar rahe hoge mere bina."

Arjun: mujhe kuch nahi sunna. Bas ye stupid haldi se mujhe bachao

Sam: sorry too late yaar. Choti neeche tumhare wait kar rahe hai.

Arjun: oh no. ab koi chance nahi hai. Sameer tumhe thode jaldi aana tha. I missed you.

Sam: I missed you too bhai. But I'm so happy for you. Bas uss bechari ke bare mien soch raha hu. Kaha bhasa diya usse bhagwan…

Arjun: you… ( he punches Sam's stomach.later both start to laugh together. They hug each other warmly)

ye dosti kitni ajeeb hoti hai...
mile do dost to baatein lambi...
na mil paye to yaadein lambi...

Arjun was taken for haldi. As he expected he was covered in haldi. Choti took all her power to put it all over his face and shoulders.

Choti: Sam Bhaiya… patha hai ab meri man me kausa gana aaraha hai… 'yellow yellow dirty fellow…'

Sam: ha choti, lagthe hai ye gaana sirf iske liye hi banaya tha.

Choti and Sam gives high 5.Arjun is fuming.

Sam: choti, kahi tumhe jalthe hue haldi ke bu tho nahi aaraha hai??

Choti: ha…thodi thodi aaraha hai.

Arjun: ab dikhatha hu kaha se aaraha hai.

He runs behind Choti and Sam. First he covers Sam with the haldi that he took from the plate just before running. And the wraps Choti tightly putting it on her dress, hair and face. "ab har jagah se yahi bu ayege…" the family was having great fun with the ceremony.

There at Roshni's home she too was covered in haldi. Her friends were teasing her with Arjun's name. after haldi, she had her mehendi. There was his name among the beautiful design. She was so sure that this mehendi is gonna be so dark because she knew he loved her too much. He was man who every girl would dream of. A person who was so sincere to his love and to his family. A man who was dedicted to do the right thing let it be his personal life ya professional. And she loved him for what he was. He is. He would be for her. Her smile was evidence for the love she had for him. She looked at his name in his hands.

Mehendi lagaugi mien sajna ke naam ke….

Kuch na khabar mujhe ab subah sham ki…

At last the shaadi day came. Arjun was ready in his cream color sharvani. Choti looked like a princess in the baby pink lehenga. Sameer was always with him helping him out. And then the baraath reached Roshni's courtyard. Choti and Sameer was dancing enjoying their best.

Roshni was looking so good in her red bridal wear. It looked as if they were made for each other. A Jodi created by someone from heaven. The marriage was completed with saath pheras and him filling her maang with sindoor.

They reached the home for grihapravesh. Arjun's mom welcomed them with an aarthi. Choti was too excited to be with her bhabhi.

Anji: bhabhi, agar aapke koi bhi problem ho tho mujhe zaroor batha dena. especially agar wo meri bhai ke bare mien ho. I'm always with you.

Aejun: acha tho mien abhi se out hu right?? Not fair choti…

Sameer: isme not fair wale kya baath hai. Roshni, iss akdu ko sambhalna thode mushkil hai. koi bhi help chahiye tho batha dena.

Arjun: you too brutus…

Roshni: iske koi zaroorath nahi hoga Sameer bhai, I think I can handle it.

Choti: oho… tho pehle se sare plan ke saath aye ho… hm… interesting, very interesting.

Roshni and Arjunwas actually blushing. He winked at her and she blushed more.

Mom: ab bas sathao math mere bachonko. Chalo Roshni. Thak gayi hogi. I'll take you to your room.

Mom takes her along with choti. Arjun keeps on watching them. sameer hits him on the shoulder. "sabr kar mere bhai…" arjun rolls his eyes. "hm…. Bolo bolo. Ab bohot jald ther bhi number ayega. Delhi mien koi hai kya?? Suna hai there team me ek ladki bhi hai!! kaise hai wo??"

Sam: achi hai. par life partner wali baath nahi hai. wo sab baath mien discus karega. Ab Roshni ko koi surprise plan kiya hai kya?? Hey you can tell me"

" chup.. shaitan…"

Choti goes out of Arjun's room after wishing her bhabhi good night.

Mom: Roshni, hamare ghar me tumhare swagath hai. koi bhi zaroorath pade tho, mujhe batha dena. Ye apka hi ghar hai. ok?

Rosh: ji maa.

Arjun comes in to the room. She was waiting with her dupatta down her face. He lifted it and pulled her chin up to face him. She smiled lovingly at him.

"welcome Roshni… iss ghar mien… hamare pariwar mien… mere zindagi mien…" she lowered her eyes blushing. He hugged her gently. She knew that he had made a promise for a life time to her. And he would never back off. And so did she…

zindagi ek khubsurat safar hai..
agar ek sahi aur sacha saathi ho..

us khubsurat safar ko aur yaadgar bana deta hai...
