It all started with 300 Rupees 33
C
With one hand.
With both hands.
Then she placed it back on the table.
While making sure Roshni was still watching her.
Then she held that phone in her right hand, tight.
Throughout the rest of the meeting.
Karan spoke "Jalebi, can you give me the new numbers that I had given you earlier today? Did you have a chance to edit it?"
She turned to see Karan, while still holding his phone and said "oh, sorry Karan, I have it but it's in my office. Let me go get it."
"I will go get it ma'am." Spoke Jenny.
Khushi saw Roshni still gawking at her phone holding hand, still. She spoke "no thanks Jenny, I will get it."
She got up, and walked out. With that phone.
Roshni looked at Arnav, he seemed too careless and neither did the rest of the people seemed to care.
That was odd.
Why would she take his phone and leave the room? Thought Roshni.
And why didn't Mr. Raizada say anything.
Another voice broke her outrageous thoughts.
"Are you in Mumbai for New Year's Mr. Raizada?" He heard Karan's question while still waiting for Khushi to join them. He replied "I believe so."
K exclaimed "GREAT! You can come to New Year's Eve Party then. I have already had the proper invitation sent to your office."
Before he could answer, Karan spoke "K, relax! Mr. Raizada, Singhania group is hosting New Year's Gala for all their business associates, a tradition my father started long time back and we tend to follow it. It would be nice if you could join."
"Thank you for the invitation Karan, but I don't think I can make it, I am not much of a party person." He replied while his eyes searched for Khushi.
K spoke "well that makes two of you."
He asked "what do you mean two?"
She replied "Khushi, who else?"
Utterly surprised to hear that, he wasn't sure he heard it right, he asked "Khushi?" She replied "yes, she doesn't like parties either."
"What? How is that possible? Khushi doesn't like parties?" He couldn't help but ask in his outright surprised voice.
K went on "no she doesn't. It's always some excuse. Usually the perfect excuse is Aashna. Even though Naina is there. How many parties has she attended since she has been with us Bhai?"
Karan replied while signing something "three, I think, if you count the award ceremony."
K continued "Yeah, and the other two, she only went because Dad had asked her to come, she never says no to him. No wonder my dad loves her. If it was for him, he would anytime replace me with her." And she giggled.
"Me too." said Karan.
K continued "Yes, my dad loves her more than both of us combined. That's why whenever dad asks her to go to somewhere, she always agrees butā¦..she obviously doesn't want to be there. The last time, she sat with my parents the whole time and left as soon as possible. And oh, please don't even get me started about her dance stories. She doesn't even dance, that one time she danced was that night on that song, ohhh that was one crazy night. The DJ played the song, she heard the song, she somehow got herself to go to the dance floor and started cryingā¦ā¦what was that songā¦ā¦Teri Meriā¦..I thinkā¦ā¦"
"Why do you always bring that up K? If she hears you talk about it again, she is going to kill you." Interrupted Karan. "She is not here right now, she won't know I was talking about it. And don't tell her or I will kill you."
He just sat there listening to this brand new information about his wife.
About Khushi.
KHUSHI.
Who was nothing but a party person.
What were they talking about?
Who were they talking about?
He wasn't even sure if they were talking about the same Khushi or not.
He asked again "so Khushi is not coming to the party?" K replied "no, of course not. She didn't the last three years. I doubt that she will come. She basically HATES parties. And you know what she hates more?"
He asked "what?"
"Weddings!" Replied K.
Weddings. He heard wedding. She hates wedding. Khushi hates weddings.
Everything suddenly went numb.
He couldn't hear anything anymore.
Too many memories flashed in his mind.
Too many negative memories.
Weddings.
Part D Continuesā¦ā¦.
