Chapter 9A: saat nibaana saathiyaā¦.
Riya wasn't missing those fumes in his eyes and she could read that something deep was happening in his mindā¦ā¦something which she knew was for herā¦..but again, she wasn't worried about her own lifeā¦she feared the dangers and risks that could come his way because the Suraj she knew was indeed dangerous and he could go to any extent to win!

She knew that Arjun wouldn't stop doing what he intended to doā¦She knew him so wellā¦ā¦She just hoped that nothing would go wrong this time!
She speaks to the advocate and finds that the 1st hearing is coming up towards the month endā¦She had to be preparedā¦well prepared to face himā¦..She had to win this case at any costā¦never could she go back to himā¦Death was better than a life with him, she said to herselfā¦..Yes she would die if she lost it to him!
Arjun looked towards her as if he had heard her mind voiceā¦.He gave her a reassuring smile and gently patted her hand
"Riya, tum akeli nahi hoā¦.jo bhi ho, main humesha tumaare saat dhoongaā¦

ETF officeā¦.A fresh case was already awaiting the teamā¦..
As they were settling down, Rathod stepped out announcing the caseā¦."team ek case haiā¦highway se kuch dhoori par dho laash mili haiā¦...lets goā¦."
As they drove, Shree started giving out the detailsā¦..marrne waalon ka naam hai Anitha Sharma aur Shravan Sinhaā¦..dono ek hi office mein kaam karthe haiā¦..Anitha Sharma ka husband Mr Vivek Sharma ek IT firm mein kaam karthe haiā¦.Shravan yahaan akela rehtha thaā¦usska parents Surat mein hai!

They stop at the point from where they have to walk through the rough terrain to reach the crime spotā¦ā¦
They start walkingā¦..Arjun, at each step turns back to see if Riya needed his help to step down but she never needed his helpā¦.even at the toughest parts, she easily strolls downā¦..
Rathod, Shree and Chotu weren't missing Arjun's new attitude to their female team memberā¦.Never before had he shown such a concerned attitudeā¦.They look alternatively nodding meaningfully and are happy at the new development alsoā¦.
At a place where Riya almost lost balance, Arjun tries to pitch in but she steadies herself never once clutching his held out handsā¦
She thanked him silently and moved on leaving behind Arjun thinking to himself
"Riya, lagtha hai zindagi ke khatin raaste tumhe bohat kuch sikhaa diya haiā¦."
Riya's mind voice: ek baar aapke haat pakadh li tho phir chod nahi paavungiā¦I cant afford to do that Sirā¦..main apne problems khud handle karna chahthi hoomā¦ā¦agar ghiri toh bhi khud uttna khud sambhalna chahthi hoomā¦.
At the crime spotā¦ā¦
The bodies are found lying near a over grown bushā¦ā¦They have been killed by a cut on their throats in the most cruel wayā¦ā¦
Riya was stronger now and she didn't hesitate one bit to examine the bodiesā¦..Arjun was a bit stunned at her changeā¦..He was realizing the indifference that had grown in herā¦..She didn't get apprehensive or tense when she saw the blood pool around the bodiesā¦.
At a distance stood Anitha's husband crying aloud at the loss of his wifeā¦..Arjun turned around and looked at him with a sort of empathyā¦..he had undergone that pain years backā¦..A quick flash of Roshni's brutal murder blurs his visionā¦.
But he quickly snaps out and returns to the caseā¦ā¦He and Rathod start searching for clues around while Shree clicks the photos of the bodies and the surrounding areas
Chotu comes back with some more info "sir, Shravan ki car mili hai kuch dhoori parā¦.usski friend ne confirm kiya hai ke woh Shravan ka hi car haiā¦"
Riya speaks up "sir, body pe koyi aur badi chot ka nishaan nahi haiā¦yahi lagtha hai ke ghale khaatne se mauth hui haiā¦[after a pause]..waise kuch scratches hai body peā¦shaayad haatha paayi ke waqt hua hogaā¦.ya shaayadā¦"
She stops and continues after a pause when Rathod urges "sir aur kuch kehne se pehle humein autopsy karni hogiā¦.."
Rathod: teek haiā¦.bodies ko forensic lab bhejoā¦
Riya: main bhi saath chalungiā¦.i want to do it myself!
Arjun heard that and looked at her wondering why she insisted on doing it herselfā¦She looked a bit upset too..ā¦He could see that Riya wanted to do the autopsy at the earliest and confirm something which was disturbing herā¦while Rathod nodded "okay."
Riya and Chotu go back with the bodies to the labā¦..
Shree goes to Shravan's car to check for any cluesā¦.
Rathod, Arjun start questioning the person who first saw the bodies and then also question Anitha's husband Vivekā¦.He says that she had left for office the previous morningā¦..He had dropped her before her office in the IT park towerā¦..His work place is a bit away from her officeā¦.So usually, in the evenings, she used to take a bus or a cab backā¦.. And he says that she usually returns before 8ā¦but yesterday, when she didn't turn up, he tried calling her but the phone was unreachable and then it got switched offā¦ā¦From then, he had been frantically searching for herā¦.
In the morning, a person from the nearby rural area had seen the bodies while walking to the highway and informed the policeā¦.From the ID cards, they had identified the people and called up Vivek and their colleagueā¦.
Arjun enquires "kya Shravan ke saat khaafi close thi aap ki wife..?"
Vivek is a bit flared up and voices in between his tears "kya matlab? Aisi koyi baat nahi thiā¦."
Rathod pitches in sensing a brewing tension "kya tum iss Shravan ko jaanthe teh??"
Vivek shruggs off "No"
Arjun doesn't ask anything more as Rathod takes overā¦.
The place is sealed, their possessions like the ID cards, bags are collected and taken to ETF officeā¦Both their purses, mobiles and Anitha's jewels are missing pointing the case to a highway robbery and murder
They interrogate the others related to the caseā¦There are few contradicting statements too...Anitha's colleague and friend at office tell them that Anitha and Shravan were team mates and were close friends tooā¦.
The security guard of their office say that Anitha and Shravan left office together around 7PMā¦The out time is also registered as 7 leaving no doubt about thatā¦.

ETF conference tableā¦..Rathod starts the briefingā¦."Anitha aur Shravan, ek hi office ke dho log, khaafi acchi dosti bhi hai, kal saat baje ek saath office se nikhalthe hai aur kisi reason se itne dhoor Shravan ke car mein jaathe haiā¦..wahaan unne kuch log loot lethe hai aur ghala khaatke maar dhaalthe haiā¦"
Arjun sat there as usual twirling his and pen deep in thoughtsā¦.Something was amiss amongst all thisā¦..
Shree pitches in "sawaal yeh hai ke woh dono wahaan kyun gaye??? Dono ka ghar toh dhoosre direction pe haiā¦.."
Rathod: shaayad dono ka affair chal raha ho aur akele waqt bithaane keliye long drive pe gaye hoā¦.
Arjun: baat ithni simple nahi hai Rathodā¦.ā¦.kuch toh choot raha hai!
Rathod looks at him raising his eyebrowsā¦
Arjun tells his point "Shravan akele rehtha thaā¦agar dono ka affair tha aur saat waqt bithaana hota toh wahaan jaatheā¦.itni raat ko aisi sun saan jagah kyun jaayenge??"
Before Rathod could respond, Riya storms in with her findingsā¦.the preliminary autopsy report in her handsā¦.She speaks out as she takes her seat "Anitha 3 months pregnant thi Sirā¦."
All are shocked and look at her as she continues "aur usske haathon mein aur body ke bohat saare places mein kuch ghehre scratches haiā¦.unne dekh kar laghta hai ke kisine jaan boochke kisi pointed cheez se..[she stops and looks around at the men who were listening to her]
Rathod: matlab kisi ne usse torture kiya hai?? par kaun?? Agar lootna hi tha phir torture?
Riya adds "sir woh scratches puraane haiā¦kal ka nahi"
All are shocked and rise up hearing thatā¦ā¦"WHAT?" Rathod voices his shock out loudly!
The discussions continueā¦.they also go to the IT park to question people there and they also search Anitha's deskā¦they take her belongings from her draws there tooā¦.One of her close friend, Nisha who sits next to her is on leaveā¦they decide to question her the next day and leave from herā¦..
Later that nightā¦..Arjun offers to drop back Riyaā¦.Their drive is silent as always but Arjun opts to break the silence as he wanted to know why she wanted to do the autopsy herselfā¦
"Riyaa"
She turned to him "yes sir"
Arjun: main kuch poochoom?
As she nods, he continues "iss case ka autopsy khud kyun kiya tumne?"
Riya gave a faint smile seeing the ACP so curiousā¦.He always posed an "I don't care attitude" and preferred to find replies all by himselfā¦.."Its also part of my work, right?"
Arjun: come on Riyaā¦.baat itni simple nahi haiā¦.itna toh main samajh hi gaya hooom!
Riya: [giving a genuine smile this time] zaroor jaan na hai?
Arjun: haan agar tum bathaana chaaho tho? force nahi karungaā¦
Riya had to give up nowā¦.Saying no to Arjun wasn't her forte any dayā¦yes she said it once but that had a reason to itā¦but this didnt need such a stubborn attitude..she could tell him her thoughts about the case..."mujhe Anitha mein meri hi ek jhalak dikhiā¦."
Arjun was a bit taken aback by that but he waited for her to explain and she did speak up "Vivek jithna seedha dikhta hai utna hai nahi!"
Arjun knew it too but he probed her "tumhe aisa kyun laga?"
Riya: ek simple si intuitionā¦shaayad aapki training kaam aa rahi haiā¦.lag raha hai ke jo humein dikh raha hai woh sach nahi haiā¦ā¦baat kuch aur haiā¦..
Arjun nodded "hmmā¦.."
Riya: logon ko aur acche se pehchaane bhi lagi hoom shaayad!
