"Don't worry, Di. I will get it". Khushi climbed on to the rickety ladder to reach for the box in the top shelf. "Khushiji, it's ok. I will ask Hari Prakashji' " Anjali started, but then realized that Khushi was already high up on the ladder. "Khushiji, please be careful". Anjali said, watching Khushi. Khushi smiled, as she picked up the box, "Got it, Di". She turned, excited; her foot slipped and she fell onto the floor.
Arnav was in a meeting. "Mr. Singhania, I agree with what you are saying, but I don't think we should approach it that way. Instead, we should.." Arnav stopped as his phone rang. "Di? What?" He ran out of the room.
"Where is she?" He asked Payal as he ran into the living room. She indicated towards his room and he ran up the stairs and straight into his bedroom. Khushi was sitting on the bed, her ankle in a plaster cast, with Anjali next to her. They looked up as Arnav ran to the bed and hugged Khushi tightly, pressing her face against his chest. "What were you trying to' what if something had happened.. why did you have to.. look at you.. your ankle.. you crazy girl.. " Arnav rambled on, scared, seeing his wife's broken ankle. Khushi's eyes teared up seeing Arnav's concern. "Arnavji, I am fine. It is just a small fracture. I will be up and about in no time". Arnav was furious; he sat down on the bed next to her and grabbed her arms. "Are you crazy? Just a small fracture, Khushi? Why do you have to do everything? You should realize that I can't be there every time to catch you when you fall.. you are unbelievable, Khushi". Anjali touched Arnav's shoulder and started saying, "Chotte.." Arnav turned to her angrily. "Di, why did you let Khushi get on the ladder?" Anjali was first scared and then she burst into laughter. "Relax, Chotte'" Suddenly there was a sound of baby crying. "Looks like baby Arpit is awake. Let me go check on him. You sit with Khushiji, Chotte". Anjali smiled, touched Khushi's face and walked to the door.
When Arnav came out of the bathroom, Khushi was sitting on the bed, switching channels; she looked annoyed. "Sweetheart", he walked to her and took the remote from her. "Are you alright?" She looked at him, made a sad pouty face and shook her head. "It has been two days and I have been just sitting in this room. I am bored, Arnavji". He took her in his arms, touched her cheek and kissed her forehead. "I have been working from home, so that I can give you company, Khushi. Tell me what do you want to do?" She looked at him, and sighed. "I don't know. I am bored." and she hugged him tightly. He smiled and hugged her back. A few seconds later he pulled away. "I know what will cheer you up." He stood up from the bed and asked her, "Are you hungry, Khushi? Maybe I can make something for you". He smiled; Khushi laughed. "You? Cook me something?" She laughed again. Arnav was hurt; "I am Arnav Singh Raizada. I can do anything." Khushi listened to him, but laughed again. "Yeah, right!" He moved closer to her and kissed her on the lips. As their lips parted, she looked at him, her eyes wide. "Look, I can even force you to stop laughing". He touched her lips with his finger and said, "Don't you dare laugh at me again, Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada". He threw the remote on the bed and walked away, annoyed. She called after him, "Arnavji, don't be angry.. Arnavji". She smiled and shook her head, as she watched him walk away.
"Chotte? Did you want something?" Anjali asked her brother. She had seen him hanging around the entrance of the kitchen for the past ten minutes. Arnav slowly entered the kitchen, running his hand through his hair. "Well, Di.. I.." he started.
Khushi opened her eyes and sat up on the bed. She smacked her lips, "Jalebi", she said. Just then Arnav walked into the room with his file in his hand. "Arnavji," she called him. "Can you take me down?" He smiled, walked to the bed and carried her in his arms. He placed her next to Anjali on the dining table and sat down opposite to her. Nani and Anjali looked at each other and smiled, as Khushi looked at the plate of jalebis on the table and picked one up. She took a bite off one jalebi and licked her lips. "Di, this is really good. Thank you!" Anjali smiled and shook her head. "I didn't make it, Khushiji". She moved her head and eyes in Arnav's direction. Khushi looked at Arnav , then at the jalebi in her hand and then again at Arnav, her eyes wide. She dropped the jalebi and moved the plate away. "I am not hungry anymore." Anjali smiled seeing Khushi's reaction. "These two, always fighting", Anjali thought, smiling and shaking her head. Arnav was disappointed; he looked at Khushi, thinking, "How dare she? After all the effort I put in it." Nani asked, "But Khushi, you just ate one, what's wrong?" Khushi folded her arms and leaned against the chair, "I don't feel like eating jalebis". Arnav snapped, "Fine, then don't eat it. Hari Prakash, take the jalebis away." Khushi stared at the jalebi plate and the pile of yummy hot jalebis, trying to control herself from grabbing it, as Hari Prakash took it from the table. Then she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up to see Arnav taking the plate from Hari Prakash; he then sat down next to her. He took one jalebi and brought it close to her mouth. "Do you want to try one more, Khushi?" She looked at the jalebi, quickly took a bite and then gobbled it. Arnav picked up another one and fed her. Nani and Anjali looked at each other and giggled. Anjali, trying to control her laughter, asked, "Khushiji, looks like these jalebis are sweeter than the first one you tried." Khushi smacked her lips, looked at Arnav and said, "Di, this one is in fact the sweetest jalebi I have ever had". He smiled and fed her one more; she looked into his eyes as she took a bite off the jalebi. They looked into each other's eyes, without realizing that Nani and Anjali had quietly left them alone at the dining table.
