Part 7
Arnav stared intently down into Khushi's stunned eyes...
It had all happened in a blur...
When he caught sight of NK leaning down towards Khushi, his heart took over his body...
All thought vanished...
He didn't even feel anger...
All he saw were Khushi's trembling lips...
He strode purposefully towards her and pushed NK away...
Sliding his arm around her small waist, he gathered her close...
Before his lips touched hers, he drank in the beauty...
He wanted to cry at the innocence that shone from her face...
Heart beating furiously, Hands trembling, eyes burning...
His lips touched hers...
An ache, like nothing he'd ever felt, permeated his body...
Khushi.
He was kissing his wife.
His lips were joined to the woman he loved...
Urgency shot through his nerves...and yet his kiss remained gentle...
He could feel her body soften as she settled into the kiss...
When Khushi lifted her hands to his chest, and tilted her face upwards...his need became ravenous...
His mouth pressed harders to hers, and with the tip of his tongue, traced the line of her compressed lips.
His hand came up to cup the back of her head.
He threaded his fingers through her hair, tipping her head back, and covered her mouth with his with a hunger that took Khushi by surprise, evoking a longing she wasn't prepared to acknowledge.
She curved her arms around him, her lips moving against his, their tongues twisting and tangling in sensuous surrender.
Desperate for breath, Khushi pushed back...
Arnav caught the flash of realization in her eyes...
"Arnavji..."
Khushi's fingers came up to her wet lips...she could still feel his mouth on hers...still feel his tongue against hers...
"Naanav...what did you just do?" Nk's voice tried to break into their trance...
But Arnav still held Khushi's gaze..."Khushi..."
He looked into her eyes...her face held shock, but her eyes held sadness...
Her eyes were windows opening to a soul that harbored pain.
Unable to think and not wanting to feel, Khushi spun around and bolted from the room...
Arnav turned to follow only to be held back by a very livid NK.
"Naanav...What are you trying to do to her!"
Arnav's eyes shut tightly...
"She has begged you to stay away! She asked me specifically to keep you away from her! And now you've..."
Violently releasing himself from NK's hold, Arnav glared into his eyes..."You were about to kiss MY WIFE!"
Nk stood firm and crossed his arms..."By the end of the week, she WON'T be your wife, and I was NOT going to kiss her the way YOU kissed her..."
Arnav scowled...
"I told her she deserved love...she doesn't even think she deserves THAT now! And I was leaning in to kiss her cheek...Because I am her friend...and because she is still married to you..."
Arnav's world was caving in around him...His life that was so full of 'control' was now crumbling at his feet.
He had refused to make decisions or take actions based on emotions, but instead on logic, reason and self-control...and now, his love for Khushi was all that kept him alive...
"I can't lose her NK..." he finally muttered...
"YOU never HAD her! She may have been your wife in name, but you never treated her as an equal! You say you loved her, but you judged her INSTANTLY! She loved you, but you have broken her heart for the last time!"
Arnav, now overcome with fury, lunged towards Nk...
Before the situation could excell, Akash entered...
"Bhai! Stop!"
Akash struggled but soon managed to break the two apart '
"What the hell is going on! Bhai, you can't lash out at NK! He's all the support Khushiji has right now!"
Arnav turned on Akash and punched him in the face...
"CHOTE!" Nani called out...
All became still...
Arnav's tormented eyes darted around...
He had almost hit NK, and he HAD hit Akash...
With a widened gaze he moved back...
"Akash...I'm...I'm so sorry..."
Akash approached..."Bhai, I know you're hurting...and I want to help...but you AND I know that NK is Khushi's friend...You can't go around hitting him or me just because you don't like something we say..."
Arnav's fists were clenched, but he knew Akash was right..."I know, I know...I just need...I need to talk to her..."
"Naanav, I don't think that's a very..."
"It's a good idea." Nani said firmly.
All eyes were now on her...
"I said it's a good idea Chote. You both need to vent your feelings. And the sooner that you both release them from your heart, the sooner you will both find healing. But Chote, this doesn't mean that you'll get her back. This doesn't mean that she will love you again. It only means that you will understand each other better. What happens from there, is for God to decide..."
Nani looked to NK, "Nahneji, Khushi is still Chote's wife. And for the time being, as long as he no longer abuses her, you are to give them their privacy. I know you want to protect Khushi, so do ALL of us..."
Nani looked at Arnav, "Chote, if Khushi does NOT want to talk to you, then you WILL leave her alone. She finds solace in her friendship with Nahneji...and you will NOT do anything to jeopardize that."
Without waiting for them to speak, Nani turned and left the room.
"Bhai, I'm heading to the office, I will handle things for now..." Akash placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and left...
NK and Arnav.
Two men in love with the same woman.
Khushi.
One woman in love...???
