I wonder why the government is so worried about "sharing" that they have a shit ton of laws on it? Afterall, it's just harmless sharing, it's not like people are stealing, right? "Sharing" intellectual property without the owner's permission is illegal, no two ways about it.

Oh Dear God.. this seems like a huge misunderstanding to me. First of all, ByHookOrCrook, I'd like to apologize to you for getting bombarded like that.. but as soon as someone had misinterpreted you and lashed out at you, you should've PMed the DT. And as for AngelTeen, BlueMystique and inspiringstars.. It's understandable that since ByHookOrCrook was asking for chapters of an author to be sent to them, you guys responded the way you did when the author had personally, removed her own work. But, to accuse a member like that of being insulting or being disrespectful towards an author just for asking for her work to read, was way out of line. But, if the author doesn't want to give her work to you to read, ByHookOrCrook, that's her call. Only the author decides who she'd like to share her work with. The readers cannot decide for her and neither can they forward her work without her permission to someone else. That is not permitted. However, AngelTeen, BlueMystique and inspiringstars, could've handled this much more maturely. And it's the first reply to ByHookOrCrook's comment was what left me dumbfounded. There was so many ways to tell the member that the author is no longer active and has removed her work willingly. You guys could have merely given the member the link to the author's email ID if you had it [which most of you did, as proven in your comments], instead of accusing the member of being disrespectful. As the member stated in their comment, they were away from the site this entire time due to personal reasons hence they were not aware that the author had removed her own work and neither does she know of the reason why.. I don't see on which bases, the member was bashed.

Henceforth, when ANY of you feel a member is being disrespectful for whatever reason, contact the DT. Don't continue to throw comments at each other because it doesn't help you or the DT.

I apologize if the DT feels my behaviour/response was out of line but I was just incensed to see a member so openly asking for chapters of a story be sent to her which is of course wrong and stepping on the rights of the author. However if my response was found disrespectful, I apologize.

^No, that's understandable as I've stated already. Plagiarism is definitely a touchy topic among writers on IF.. however, that doesn't mean that we lash out on others members like that. Not all members are the on the look out to steal work. Some just want to read it. So generalizing members isn't right.

^And i've backed that up in my warning, did i not? I said very clearly that only the author decides who she'd like her work to be shared with. All I'm saying is that it was wrong for you, and the other two members to lash out on that member in the manner you guys did.

And for that I have apologized and shall do so again if that be deemed improper by the DT. :)

^Not without the permission of the author, no. The author needs to know where/who they're work is going to and if they're OK with it. Sending work of an author on IF without their permission is not permitted at all and strict action will be taken against the member...
