Asking what? Asking for the work? Yeah, that's fine as long as the member is notified that only the author can send them the work and no one else. If the member is adamant and demands for the work to be sent even after being told that only the author has the right to do that... then the DT will step in.

I shall rephrase my question even though you have answered it just for the benefit of others - What I asked was that can members/readers ask for chapters of a story to be mailed to them, not to the author of the said story but to the general population of IF?

Anyhow, thanks for clearing my doubts.

I am sorry if you think our responses were improper, but the problem I had was with the fact that the member, knowing Munchy isn't active on IF (as she says so herself in her first message), asked for other readers to send her a copy of the work. In this case, the author can't send the work, seeing as how she isn't even on IF anymore, so the request is not for her but for the readers which clashes with your statement that only an author can share his/her work. I hope the reason I disagree with the member's request is clear.

I am not asking anyone to post her work on the forum, that is why I had given my e-mail address. I am totally respecting her wish.

I'm just catching up with all this but - FYI - No-where does it say her friends can't speak on her behalf - in fact to quote you "ONLY she should be the one to say who can and can't speak for her."

@BlueMystique : Clear as water but what was the point of lashing out at the member when you could've provided the email ID of the author? This situation could've definitely been handled better and the DT would not have had to step in and I'm sure all of you know that.

@Nymra: You have no reason to respond back to the member when the DT has stepped in. =/ Especially in that manner.. considering how I just reprimanded 3 members exactly for that.. Am i suppose to assume you completely missed those 3 pages?

All I can say is Munchy is a friend, and I felt that the member was taking advantage of the fact that she is not here and asking for a copy of her work. It might not be reason enough for you, but it was for me.

Unfortunately, the DT can't be biased, friend or no friend. I understand your point of view as well but I can't neglect the fact that the other member was treated unfairly as well.

I apologize for all this going so much out of hand, and also for my responses, if they deemed disrespectful to anybody here. But I still stand on the fact that what ByHookorCrook was demanding was WRONG, and especially when it was demanded by her from the readers of my thread, it was my rightful action to respond.

And if you go through her messages, she was not able to understand the single fact (Asking for other person's work from other readers even if it is just for sharing is WRONG) that we were all trying to make her understand, if she had in the first response to her, it wouldnt have gone this far. We all here are very sensitive towards not just plagiarizers, but readers who wrongly share stuff, and the writer in question has specially left IF just for that reason. I hope you understand, this is the sole reason I myself reported my own thread.

I apologize to the DT, my readers and all who were involved for all this.

I hope to put this to rest and wish you all have a great rest of the day/night.

^Thats where you're wrong. I went through all the pages and the very first post of the member didnt come off as demanding to me.. Seemed like a request. It's the first reponse to the member that fired the member up. And after that, the member DID get the point which is why they asked for the email ID of the author =/
